I really hate to see Monday morning quarterbacking. In all likelihood, when this nurse and her husband bought the house and had children, their salaries covered their bills comfortably. The jump in the cost of heating, food, gasoline, and other necessities is hitting households really hard. Unless you were there on their wedding day to tell them that runaway inflation was going to be the reality in 2023, you have no basis for saying they shouldn't have had kids. At the time they had them, they could afford them. At the time they bought that big screen TV, they could afford it. Personally, I've always been one to live beneath my means, not just within them, becauseit allows you to save in good times and to get by and still save something in bad times. I've never had a big screen TV and my house is a lot smaller than what hers appears to be. Nevertheless, I really hate for people to tell families who recently fell upon hard times that they shouldn't have had kids during a time when they were more than able to afford them, unless you attended their wedding to make them aware of how drastically the value of a dollar would fall several years into their marriage.

Nurse here with a nurse wife. 9 years working. 2 homes with 400k equities, 650k combined retirement, 170k liquid combined, paid off cars. 2015 we were DIRT broke. Mindset and ability to take sacrifices and most importantly, a wife on the same boat as you

"a wife on the same boat as you"
That's EXTREMELY KEY! You need a husband OR wife that is committed to working towards the same financial goals or it won't work. So many people worship at the alter of consumption in the USA and don't care about growing wealth, security, and freedom. My ex was buying new cars every 18 months, buyingy all the latest tech stuff. I wanted to be in a position where I didn't HAVE TO WORK if I didn't want to or couldn't some day. If you can't agree on what's important in life, your relationship is doomed.
My ex is now single again and deep in credit card debt and negative equity on a home that was purchased after the marriage ended. I have a 1 year emergency fund, no credit card debt, my home is half paid off and I have more equity than the remaining loan balance, car paid off, etc. It's not a glamourous lifestyle, but I sleep well at night.

We were living paycheck to paycheck a year ago. We decided we no longer wanted to live that way so we stopped. We stopped buying anything other than absolute necessities. No eating out, no clothes for my husband and I. Thrifted clothes for our 2 kids and got hand me downs from other family. Worked as much as we could overtime as we were able to and payed off ALL of our debt, mortgage, credit card debt and cars. Now 12 months later we can splurge a little on eating out, find great deals for clothes for our kids, get ourself a little something, maybe get a little coffee for breakfast but we still live below our means. In all honesty I don’t feel bad for this women, she’s trying to live a life she can’t afford, just because you are a nurse doesn’t mean that you can live the life of a doctor. Nobody said it was going to be easy. All you have to do is live below your means and have some money saved up.

Alot of these people keep having more children but they don't increase their income. Its like nobody run the numbers before having another kid, or buying a house or car.

People are straight up crazy these days. Welcome to post pandemic inflation girl. At least they are lucky enough to have been able to purchase a home, honestly. Try purchasing a home today at an over 8% off rate plus double and triple the price of homes. Let me break out my tiny violin.

8% interest rate is not that high. In the 80's Interest rate 15% with a 20% down payment.. now you can just put down 3% & some loans require 0 down payment. Its alot easier buying a house now...

I've known a few nurses in my life and they tend to cope with the stress of the job by being free spenders in their off hours. Just saying. I had an aunt that would go on multiple fancy vacations a year for example. They think they are making good money so they can spend a lot more on creature comforts but the reality is the dollar doesn't go as far as their imagination seems to convince them it should. Add kids to the mix and its even harder.

Sounds like she's living a regular life. I heard that all her bills were paid and she had food in the fridge...they've got $50 a piece for gas for the next week, and still have $200 left. She's just used to having more money to waste, and now that the cost of EVERYTHING is going up,she's getting a taste of how working-middle class people have been living for years. They both need to pick up some extra shifts, and get rid of some debt; so they can keep more of the money they have coming in.

People who are living paycheck to paycheck really must closely re-examine their lives. It’s tough out here and things do turn up every so often, however, if you don’t have your priorities straight, the problem is you. Putting your “wants” ahead of your “needs” or living for the “now” rather than doing what’s for the best interest for your future is DANGEROUS. It’s all emotional not logical.

Put myself through college w 3 jobs all year round - kept 2 jobs til my 40's now consult/work from home. No vacations, no fancy cars, no designer lables. Happy eating simple food at home. [t's not that hard. Just focused on generating revenue. Life is not about stuff.

Well jobs don't make you rich. It dose not matter how many jobs you have, how much you make, or how many college degrees you have. I have two jobs, no kids, I live with my mom, I do not buy coffee at Dunkin donuts everyday like most people. I drink my coffee at home that my mom buys off her food stamp card, I also don't eat outy mom cooks for me and guess what? I am still broke why ? Because jobs keeps us poor and jobs are a scam this woman and this video is 💯 percent right. Everyone is talking about her and laughing at her but she's speaking facts. I don't see the video that way at all. She is doing with a video what our parents and grandparents did when they wrote in their diaries. They vented their frustrations and personal feelings. The difference is that they kept their thoughts private, which I personally think is the best way to go. Most people in today's world put all their personal thoughts out there for people to see and have no concept of privacy. That's not for me. I will not be spilling my struggles and frustrations for the whole world to look at, but that is how many people use TikTOk, IG, and other sites like that.

I get socked watching these people complaining, with all the opportunities that’s right in front of you in this country please what a victim. I wonder how much student loans they owe. You choose the lifestyle you live. Small house and Toyota Carolla isn't enough for them. You gotta leave NY, CA, NJ and those other pricey states. I left NJ after living there and in CA. Delaware and Pennsylvania are good living folks. 😊
