    I see the 82 as an evolution of the 992, same nib, similar size, cigar shaped vs flat ends. Jinhao went further by making many colors, sparkles & easily swapped parts to create your own design. It is a No. 5 nib, I've swapped in some stubs & long blades & they work well. It is a great EDC.

    Mick! Thank you for your video. I think that I will buy one of these. The Sailor pro gear slim is very expensive for me.

    I love these pens, I found some with the extra fine as well as fude nibs. I have 13 and I have switched the caps, finials, barrels so they are very colorful. A few of the nibs have been a little scratchy but I know how to smooth them out. FUN Pens at $4-10 each!

    I have one. It is really a nice pen; the very fine nib was remarkably smooth for something so cheap. You cannot eyedropper it (the top of the barrel can come off) and it is pretty small but frankly very pleasant and reliable to use despite the cheapness and simply plastic components.

    Nice review. Personally, I like nibs which are smooth but with just a touch of feedback too. It gives them character and can make for a more engaging writing experience. Just my view. It's why I'm a fan of the Platinum 3776.

    I have several of these and love them, but my nib preference would be Medium. EF is too scratchy, but they often are because of my writing angle I believe. Got a couple of F which are quite nice too. I have found with every single one of mine the nibs have ink residue left in them which speaks to the nibs being testet before they leave the shop. I like that. I like my Sailor Pro Gear Slim and 1911s a lot. They are on top. Jinhao 82 can't by any means compare to the experience, mainly because of the nib. I love the smooth feedback Sailor nibs have. So there is that. Jinhao 82 will not replace Sailor for me, but I keep them in addition to. And the price point let me have more of them 🙃 Thanks for your review!

    It’s a great fountain pen indeed. But, 13AU$…? That is double the price I paid in Spain through ali express! They cost 3’60-4€ each here. Funny how the price varies depending on the country you live in, while they all still come from china.

    I have two of these and can’t complain. I just ordered two 9019. They seem to have the same nib as the x159 and I already have three of those, but the 9019 has an XL converter.

      Nib is the same. Has X159 on it.

    The Jinhaos are usually great writers. Have the 82s and ordered medium nibs for them. Also have the 159 and X750. Not sure that resemblance to PGS is a negative. : ) Thanks.

    I have to get this pen. It looks and performs well and for the price,,you cannot go wrong with it.
    I have Sailor pens and they, for me are exceptional. But, their price point is light years from a Jinhao
    Yes, the Jinhao is a steel nib but it performs well, well enough that it can be considered exceptional in its own right.

    You can actually interchange the "parts" between different colors of the Jinhao 82!

      My favourite 82 at the moment is a mix of the black, and the dark blue glitter. Looks great with those transparent sparkly highlights

    I find the nibs to be a bit on the boring side, apart from the fude nib, BUT they readily take most #5 nibs. I have one with a Kaweco stub and one with a vintage gold nib. Super fun pens!

    • @theoffstageme
      @theoffstageme  Год назад +1

      I personally prefer ‘boring’ nibs. I like a smooth, uniform, slightly wet ‘round’ line. I don’t enjoy flex, and stub nibs don’t work for me. So, a ‘boring’, consistent, reliable nib is exactly what I am after!

      What vintage gold nib fits this?

    • @UrbanHafner
      @UrbanHafner 3 месяца назад

      @@bluerosesanjuan8464 Any no. 2 type nib might fit, but it's always a gamble and you just have to try it.

    Is this pen flight-proof?

    • @theoffstageme
      @theoffstageme  Год назад

      As flight-proof as any standard cartridge converter can be. Fly as full of ink as possible, store nib up… don’t carry it in a white shirt pocket just to be safe. Most pens dont have too much issue if these steps are followed… but until some power fillers or eye droppers, there is nothing specific on this pen (like a shut off valve) to help with flying
