    We added a wood stove to supplement our furnace and it saved us years ago when the furnace died in December and couldn’t be replaced for three weeks. Not to mention the power outages with no electricity for a heat pump. Cost about $1000.00 installed in 1988, about 12% of hvac cost. You can do the numbers for your situation. Might as well use some of that wood that you cut. Probably get lots of advice from Guy.

    Sorry you had so many problems last week Gord. Your blower does a beautiful job. We only got 3 inches of the wettest heavy snow you can imagine. Then it warmed up and 4 days later the drive is soft and any ground is mud if you drive across it. The Great Lakes are only 12-1/2% ice covered when they are normally 57% covered at this time. This is one warm winter. Well, take care Gord, hope the family is doing well, keeping all of you in prayer.

    What a different year for weather, we are in Ottawa, typically we are in a deep freeze and the snow banks should be so high you can't see past them to get of your laneway, this year. Its almost all melted, I'm 55, dont remember a winter like this, I have only plowed 4 times, 2 of them was cause I wanted to play. Crazy weather.

    Without getting into a lot of personal business. Could you do a video on the annual maintenance cost of having a property with a long drive? Materials, fuel, time invested, equipment depreciation, equipment maintenance cost and etc. I know things vary from year to year but it might open some folks eyes to just what it takes versus paying a contractor to do all the up keep! I'd like to see you do a video on what video equipment and editing software (if any) you use, as well as microphone. I think that would be interesting to see.
    I'm also curious as to why you change your discharge chute direction so many times while blowing. Is it just for visual effect? Because it doesn't appear that the wind is changing directions to blow the snow back towards you. Just curious.

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  4 месяца назад +1

      Morning Jeff. That's a good idea for the video. The chute is sometimes changed for video effect but mostly because of wind - the driveway snakes through the forest - lots of turns which causes the wind to hit me in different directions. Thanks and have a good one!

    It is not funny but in a way also funny. Ok so as the old saying goes when it rains it pours. I have not one but two large refrigerators' because I love to cook. Odd as it sounds I hate to eat and I eat one meal a day. No I don't snack. Well one Fridge broke down on me. I knew if I had to I could make it with just one but both Fridges were full and both freezers were also full. Meaning I had no place for the other food. Well as I decided to do my best and repack everything and try to make the other fridge hold all it can. I found out that too was not working. Ah but using towels to clean up the mess I had no choice but to wash them with my heavy duty washing machine. Yes put the towels in and filled it up with water. That was it the washing machine was broke as well. I about reached my point with that all happening and thought I need to just take my mind off things for a while. I decided to watch a few videos on my 65 inch flatscreen smart tv. Guess what? Yes Sir the tv was black and not working. I had it so I decided to watch a few videos on my computer. Yes that is right my computer was messed up. There is also another old saying. If it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck at all.
    Back a few years ago I was hit with a death in the family. But that didn't stop there. Long story short I had 8 family members die all with in 3 months apart. I bought a John Deere Riding lawn mower. 16 horse power. A tire went flat so I pumped it up. Went flat again . then another went flat the next day I had not one but 3 flat tires. I let a girl use my car to take her kids to a Church gathering and a Church dinner. It was a beautiful car. When I got the car back the next day the motor was blown. My brother told me he say me driving the night before speeding racing and doing burn outs. I told him no it wasn't me I lent my car to a girl to take her two kids to a Church gathering. He said that was no girl driving. Lesson learned never ever lend anything out to anyone.
