- Let's clear the snow from the driveway and get to my Toyota Tacoma ad drag it out of the snow bank. I try using Cruise Control for the first time, as I blow the snow from the driveway. Surprising results! Clearing snow and recovering the truck. That's our job today! Cheers!
CAUTION: A flashing Amber Beacon is used in this video.

The most shocking thing about this video is the fact you are sitting in front of a gas fireplace!!! With all the firewood videos of yours I have watched, I was not expecting that.
Try putting snow tires on the truck, NOT all season or all terrain they do not work well in the snow
The only time I find myself wanting to use CC on the b2601 is in high gear on the road. Unfortunately, it won’t lock in at full speed - like one click off. So I really don’t even use it then. Looks like they made a good improvement on the LX.
Morning Ed! Yes, a big difference for sure. With the B, me too - I found it was not very helpful except when heading down the road. Have a nice weekend!
💥 How nice to have helpful neighbors not just to be there when you need help but to be there when your not there.
*Keep on tractoring!*
Also anyone who blows snow with a tractor one or one u walk behind any wind u always blow the snow with the wind not agensted it to keep most the snow off u
Wooow I’m amazed at how much work these compact tractors are capable of. How do you put a value on friendships. Your a fortunate guy GP Take care of each other and be safe.
Cheers Gary!
Great job Guy, Bob, and Ralph to the rescue. Your neighbors are really helpful, let them when needed. Good that the cruise control worked for you, anything to help just a little helps BIGTIME. You folks got winter, enjoy it all you want. We enjoy watching your videos and really appreciate them and the WILD BUNCH around there. Stay safe and keep up the fun. Fred.
LOL! Good morning Fred! There's always something going on up here. :)) We are finally getting snow. Enjoy your weekend and all the best!
First . ,😅😎
Damn you got the snow, we don't 😔
Sounds like your previous tractor didn't have cruise control but a throttle lock. Old army trucks had a handle you could pull out and twist. It would set the throttle but the speed of the vehicle depended on load and what gear you were in. Some equipment such as backhoes had the same thing as a crude form of RPM control. Nowadays cruise control on regular cars tries to maintain the speed of the vehicle under changing load conditions. Some equipment will try to maintain a set RPM.
I like how you even brought the coffee in order to replicate results testing the cruise control 🤣
Don't beat yourself up on the speed aspect.
Even good landscapers with tractors twice/thrice the size & power of that Kubota works at about the same speed, because they don't wanna overload the snowblower's impeller bearings & transmission.
No wonder Taco got stuck, listen to the blower hitting that snow at 8:05'ish, it's just one of those times you get snow with a weird consistency.
Even 15 inches of fluff is nothing to sneeze at, 15 inches times 3-4 snowfalls and a week goes by it compresses down to 15 inches of concrete.
Your neighbors, bless them, did you a solid one knocking down that bank before it froze solid!
Good Evening GP, Yes in deed Outstanding Neighbors are very precious👌😇👍 Cheers 🍻🍻
Cheers Dave!
LUV UR LONG DRIVEWAY ! * ! * ! Where are you located ? JimInCincy [ Cincinnati, Ohio ]
Good day Jim! Thanks - Ontario - Canada. Cheers!
GP your friend in Alaska here... We have been getting hit hard with the white stuff here to... My tractor is a L275 with a bucket and back blade... First year I've really thought of getting a blower... Back blade can only handle so much and with unfilled tires and no chains you only get so much... Tell no name guy up the road I said hi...
LOL! Morning G! I will tell him for sure. Cheers!
Cruise control snow blowing? Who suggested that 😂😂😂😂
LOL! A great idea. Super happy!
I mow my very hilly yard with my JD X738 4x4 gas. With cruise on it will hold speed better than I can with the peddle.
Gord, how long s your driveway? I thought mine was long at over 1/4 mile hahaha
Morning! It is 1.3 kms ( under a mile). Cheers!
Dear gp
Love snowblower,
Snow,video, good work,
Newbrunswick Canada 🇨🇦
Like the video Gord . thanks again ,
I couldn't agree with you more about having good neighbors is a blessing! You've got some great relationships up there! I just told one of my neighbors that I love to use my tractor to open up a blown shut, with snow drifts, driveway. I also told them about something 'new' on the horizon, so I don't have to endure those cold snow whirlwinds that many times happen while snowblowing on my BX-2200. I must admit, I'm a bit jealous of the snow you've got. We still don't have any and with temps in the high 50's during the day, it feels like spring. We're not out of the woods yet. Time will tell ...
That's very interesting Gord. The cruise control on my ROPS LX is the same variety as you had on the B2601. I find whenever I engage it there is always an RPM drop when I take my foot off the pedal. Although, I typically only use it when I'm driving up the road, not actually working. I see more testing is apparently required! Hope you enjoyed the snow machine time the next day!
Good morning Chris! I am surprised it is not the same as mine but I would enjoy seeing that testing. On the B I could only set it in one position and although i could step on the pedal while in use, I could not reduce speed. Mine allows me to adjust speed on the fly as well. Maybe test it out and let us know how it worked out. Happy to discuss - Cheers!
I also notice a small drop of perhaps 100 RPM on my JD 1025 when I engage the cruise. I haven't tried under load but presume the outcome would be the same.
Great neighbors are a blessing! 👍 I found the cruise control works good with the back blade on my MX5400 until i get into the really deep drifted stuff.
Even 4x4 get stuck 😂😊 it's knowing the road and when not to keep going.
COMMENT FROM FORMER KUBOTA SALESMAN Engine TORQUE is what's pulling you up the hills. Torque kicks in at RPM's below the speed your setting to climb the hills. JimInCincy
Morning and thanks Jim! Maybe can you explain that a little more - are you saying that I should have dropped the engine RPM when going up the hill and would have better torque or...? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!
KUBOTA engines develop peak torque usually below 2,000 rpm's. Therefore you could have throttled down. Experiment to find power band. Ask your KUBOTA DEALER for tech support info Please supply engine PEAK TORQUE spec's.
It’s a bit out of season, but I have used the cruise control when I brush hog my pasture…it’s a 400 meters long and 200 wide. It would get tiring NOT to use it! If we EVER got some snow here…I might try it in the winter plowing. Great video GP
I now realize that without a large area of grass or brush to cut, you would not have used your cruise control in the summer. The Kubota L series cruise control is a pleasure in fieldwork. Pick an appropriate speed at PTO rpm and simply steer.
Agreed. You have great neighbors! What a fun group to spend time with - especially given the common interests.
Hey Gord! I haven’t needed cruise control myself but I will keep it in mind! Good job clearing the snow!
Great video GP. You have some really awesome neighbors! I know you would do the same for them as well.
A good man measures his life not in the number of his years but in the quality of his friends. Unkown
Hi GP, by full RPM, you mean 100% or 2600 approximately?? I thought it was not good for the engine to be ran full throttle and 80% of 2600 was recommended, so 2080. I might be wrong but I am curious to revisit my manual or call my Kubota dealer.
Gord I noticed that you have your front guard attached when you have your front snowblower attached. (I also notice this when you were running the B2601 with the B2782) I bought a B2650 with a B2782 front snowblower and was told I have to remove the front guard (same as yours without the steel mesh) when mounting the snowblower because of interference. Have you had any problems? Of course I would rather not remove the front guard if I do not have to.
Beautiful spot, lots of snow compared to Nova Scotia.
Great video Gord! Gotta love good neighbors! Boy the kabota sure is getting a workout! 👍
Very nice piece of equipment. I had a Simplicity Legacy XL diesel. I'm still kicking myself for selling it...
You do have great neighbors. I rather have good neighbors than a great house.
If I bought a Kubota it would have to be gear drive, because I have used a couple of BX's, and I really hate that damn treadle pedal. Just so uncomfortable. My ankle does not bend the way Kubota wants it to. I know you can lift up your foot and step on the back, but I think it is a stupid design. I love my John Deere twin pedal. I have heard all of the arguments, but my heel stays in one place, and I just pivot my toes left or right as needed. I can run it all day and it is just so much more comfortable for me.
Good neighbors are a huge blessing for sure!!! Have seen the nightmare some go through when they have the opposite!!!
Thanks for taking us along today, GP. I appreciate it!! Cheers!
Cheers Michael!
If I didn't need my lift capacity for log works on my tractor, I would totally be fine with a LX2610 for my snowremoval needs. Always loved Kubota's setup for front snowblowers. Good machine Gord.
Do you have a winter boots video, what are the ones you have ?
Morning Frenchy! Actually, I have snowmobile boots but generally, I only wear my work boots during the winter. Cheers!
Toyota get stuck - only 2 things what can be wrong - wrong tires, wrong driver...
should install some 'Mirror Dash Cam Backup Camera' for even mre comfort recording & cruise control ride
GP, you do have great neighbors. That makes all the difference in the world knowing you will be there for each other. All the best!
How's she goin'? If you have good neighbors, that's just great!! The cruise control has it's time and place. Once you get a good snow/ice base down on your lane the cruise control will be perfect!!! Take care!!
Morning Grampie! Hope you are keeping warm and enjoying the snow!
Stay with the Tacoma then I have a tundra and I absolutely hate it probably the worst truck I've ever had I'm going back to gm
Hi GP glad to see that all went well... Yep we use the cruise control on our Boomer 45 when mowing the field, got spoiled with it also... Keep Safe Buddy & God Bless...Chief..{NYS/ADK}
Morning Chief! All the best to you too sir!
Greetings from eastern Ontario. Had to laugh GP. Famous last words. Four-wheel drive won't get stuck! Enjoyed the videos. We have received over 100 inches of snow so far this winter. And last February saw the heaviest snowfall. Fingers crossed for this year. Cheers.
LOL! Cheers!
Down here in Wisconsin I took my snow blower off and put the loader back on we’ve had warm wet snow followed by cold temps that creates ice first time I ever bent my auger now the loader can handle it and back blade.
Good evening GP
Famous last words… I won’t get stuck.. hahahah
I have never use the cruise control. I don’t have any long enough… Well maybe out to me pew pew range. Hahah
I do keep that open just for fun…
Thanks for taking us along on another one of your adventures.
As always stay safe and always be kind.
Cheers
LOL! Good morning Gus. Guy keeps his pew pew open too (:)) - was just using it last week. Say hi to Sally!
I also have a Toyota Tucoma. The only trouble I had was in snow. That’s because it is really light in the back. I used a snow shovel and loaded down the beds and drove right out of it. Later
Excellent video, much enjoyed!
Great learning adventure. Thankz!
Thanks!
Good morning and thanks very much Rick! I hope you are keeping well sir!
Do you know ?
When we choose to "report" these spammers,
Who is getting the "reports"
Is it a waste of time?
Does it do any good ?
Just in case nobody tells you this. You look like your doing just fine. Don’t let them get you down. Means nothing but I would have no issues servicing my driveway. Party on with that cup of coffee!!!!!!
Cheers and thanks Stan!
Thank you for taking the time and effort to share your adventures.
Now Iam
Wondering about the decibel levels in the cab.
Does that blower add greatly to the noise levels?
Do you wear plugs?
Good morning Jean. I did a video on measuring the db on he chainsaw, tractor, splitters etc a while back (can't remember the video number) but if I remember correctly it was around 85 db, I think. Yes, usually - it is very loud in the cab. I wear ISOTUNES - they provide -27db and allow me to listen to my music from my phone while I drive. Very comfortable, especially when I am wearing my toque. Cheers!
So was whoever was in the pick up, did you switch off the traction control
GP...You should think about building a small hidden lockable sled shed up at the front of your property so that you can get in to get the snow blower on days like this. Just a thought. Better have a chainsaw in there too.
Morning Walter. I have thought about it several times but I don't own the land up there that I pass through. But I think it would be a good idea. Cheers and thanks!
Great video!! That tractor and snow blower definitely does the job sure is a sweet setup sure nice to have a cab over the open station for sure. It definitely is great to have great neighbors 1and they are lucky to have a neighbor like you also. That's the way it should be but unfortunately it's not that way in some places. That's way I was raised at 68 year's old I still do my best to keep the snow off road and my neighbors driveways and keep ditches mowed cause the county road district don't. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun enjoy
That's wonderful Mike! All the best to you good sir!
Can you let me know how much the whole tractor with cab and everything cost you?
Good neighbours are truly priceless!
Yup! my neigbhoor has blown my drive for years, he has a few tractors. i send him some gas money every November $400.00 Cash for good luck.
Now you just need auto steer and you got it made.
Gord you have great neighbours. They know if the shoe was on the other foot you would have cleared the end of the driveway for them. I wonder how much snow will be left on Monday.
Morning Chris! Yup, I am thinking it may be looking like spring come next week. Have a great weekend!
Yup GP, you have great neighbors! And as TTWT says: if you want great neighbors, you have to be a great neighbor. I know that if the roles were reversed, you'd be one of the first ones there to lend a hand! Thanks for bringing us along. And about the 6:09 mark that was just plain showing off!!🤣🤣🤣👨🚒
LOL! Welll.....maybe a little....Cheers and all the best DA!
i would prefer a hydralic front blade that would work better than snow blower
Get some heated windshield wipers. It helped us a bunch with our toolcat
You do a great job of staying composed when people are always chirping suggestions. That can be very hard to do!!
Never used the cruise control on my 1025r or lawn mower. Just not a long enough area to make the effort i guess.
Fun video GP! Definitely sounds better in cruise 👌👍
Blessings from Michigan 👊👊
Wonderful neighbors are 👌👌👌!!!
If I ever move back into a snowy area again I will definitely be buying another kubota with a cab and with the snowblower and rear blade! Still love watching your videos as I sit in the Southern California sun.
LOL! Good morning Anthony!
As always great video.... the summer boys in the woods are now called the winter boys to the rescue. They'll need help one day and i know you'll be there. Stay warm.
You bet Wayne!
It’s recreation for him. Propane for convenience.
Good neighbourliness is a pleasure
Nothing like great neighbors!
Good neighbors make life easier and glad I have some great ones. You also have some awesome neighbors GP. 👍✊
I sure do Bob! Very fortunate. Have a good one!
I’ve never seen so much snow in my life wow.
Great video GP.... you got it out like a champ though! Cheers!
Thanks SD! Have a good one!
What is in that beverage at the end? Coffee, tea, hot cocoa? Something stronger? :)
A little something to warm up. LOL! CC :))
GP good friends are a blessing. You are blessed with many good friends.
Cheers Tim!
you have great neighbors
Wow, that’s a lot of snow! We never get snow here! Too warm in South Carolina! 72 degrees today!
Love your videos - Thank you for posting. Quick question ... How long is your driveway? I'm thinking of going with the same setup.
Great videos Gord nice to have good neighbours but they know if they need help you would be there for them and that is the way we was raised take care buddy enjoy the time at the cottage
Cheers Tom!
Snow Tires or a All-Terrain that are “Three Peak” rated. This is the best rating you can get for a tire that is used in the snow. I personally use the BFG All-Terrain KO2 and never had a problem in the snow.
I like the “cruise control” idea for snow blowing
I have a disability it involves strobes
Hey good morning Gavin. I hope you were able to catch the note I put on the screen. I also just added a caution note to the description as well. I hope you were ok and it didn't cause you too much trouble. Thanks!
@@GPOutdoors u good just strobes r my weakness and I seen haft of your note
Hi Gord, I really enjoyed the two part video. Thank you for sharing. I was surprised to hear the cab noise level. I guess I should be looking for some type of ear protection with Bluetooth capability.
Dealer has my LX but still no build date. Rear remotes valves and backhoe sub-frame still missing. ☹️. Dan
It's kinda awesome having good neighbors.
I have that load control on my 3046r. It works great. The cruise control in general is a pain though. It doesn't dis engage well. It just comes to a complete stop. Haven't figured out how to get it to stop doing it. Owners manual isn't helpful. Glad yours is working well!
Definitely good to have great neighbors and great friends. Many hands make light work and provide some good company. Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed your video - especially since it is 37F and raining where I am. Much rather have snow at these temps.
I noticed the noise level inside the cab when using CC is substantially louder. Do you have a similar experience? I also have the LX 2610 thanks to this channel.
I enjoyed the video.
I have a Kubby B2601 with a front end loader for snow removal, and it is perfect for the amount of snow where I live, and the size of my driveway. Seeing this video I almost , repeat almost , wish I lived in an area and had a long enough driveway to need a set up like this. BTW, your explanation of your rotating the chute and moving the deflector up and down is dead bang on the money. Especially when talking about wearing the snow due to the wind direction. I used to use a walkbehind snow blower so I know what you're talking about.
Great video GP really enjoyed it. I also have good neighbours at my cottage. We all help one another lifting, launching and pushing various items around our cottages.
Send some down by us. 😊
Year of the snow!!
Do you use winter tires on your Tacoma?
Morning! I have never put winter tires on any vehicle I have owned. I put them on my daughter's cars for sure. And I probably should use them too. :)
@@GPOutdoors I’m pretty sure you would not have gotten stuck, winter tires make all the difference for traction in deep snow. Great video though.
Glad it all worked out.
Have you tried dropping the pressure in your truck tires in such situations? 🤔 For crawling around at slow speeds 15psi work pretty good as long as you have a means of reinflating before heading back out on the road. 😉
I have those same wheel chains on my old 135 massey Ferguson. It’s great how smooth they run. A major improvement over the old cross chains
👍👍👍
So I am guessing you have not retired yet. Will you live up at the cottage full time when you do? Tanks for the great videos.
Cruise control for snowblowing. Who knew it would work so well. I'll file that one away in the useful information bucket. It really is a bless to have great neighbours that will help you out without even having to ask.
