Sounds similar to my journey getting diagnosed with ADHD at 30, i spent 3k+ in the first year just in appointments to get on the meds. Then when the ones i was prescribed started giving me some pretty unpleasant side effects, i was basically told I'd need to suck it up or go through the whole process again and at this stage i can't financially afford it..i had to use a credit card to afford the first lot of fees which put so much stress and pressure on myself and my life in general. With the price of just living in Australia currently, i can't just find another 2k+..so now I'm stuck with meds that somewhat help but are also causing a lot of problems in my life. The medical system is insane.
This is the current state of medicine in Australia. We don’t have a healthcare system, we have a sick care system. Want to be proactive with your health? Nope, go fuck yourself. Want to self medicate because the system is broken, sure we will throw you in jail. This country is a joke.
