Is this reel strong enough to take barracuda? I went on this boat deep sea fishing, it was 12 hours of non-stop barracudas😭. Both my reels Penn slammer 3 4500 and Daiwa saltist 3000 were broken due to the main gears got destroyed.😭 I can’t believe Penn slammer 3 4500 aka the tank got destroyed as well.
60# braid and use a floro leader of whatever test needed. The length of leader should be from the tip of the rod to about the first eye from the reel. Just set the drag light to offset the lack of stretch
400 series is too big for surf casting lures and small baits. However, I have used my 400 for casting big baits from the surf. Bait and wait for style fishing, for shark, shovelnose, etc..
@@VINCEGOESFISHING thank you for the reply. Thanks for the info. I really thought it would be a good reel to pair with a 10 ft rod and throw some big baits for bull reds.
What is your rod recommendation for that Reel in the offshore application?
Pulled my first ever sturgeon 48 inch no problem pulled it right up with little effort

I never used baitcasting reel before. I just received it as a gift from my son. Can i use braided line in it? Your help is appreciated.
Yes, most people spool these up with braided line. Sometimes with a top shot of mono.
