Hey everyone. A lot of concern out there that I don’t know my meters-to-feet conversion. So let me clarify here: When I say “about 6 feet” etc. I’m referring to lengths commonly sold in the U.S. Most HDMI cables are marketed in whole numbers of feet Hope that helps.
I found this channel looking for a specific Denon review. I found that your knowledge and completely usable and understandable material is refreshing. One comment is I have a bit of hearing loss, your voice is not only pleasant, but it's extremely easy to hear and follow. That's more important than I can say. Please keep up the good videos.😎
Thanks for the overview, but ridiculous that cables have gotten complicated again. The whole point of HDMI and USB standards was to keep things simple for the consumer.
I’ve just found your videos, and your “in depth” tangents are the perfect mix of easy to swallow, and technical savviness that I’ve been looking for. Thanks for your work. Keep your chin up.
This video helped a lot. I purchased a cheap 5 pack of hdmi cables 7 years ago for my old 1080p tv and old blue -ray player. But I have been having some problems with cables starting 3 years ago and I'm like what heck is going on. I've now upgraded to a 4K tv last year, a newer blue-ray player, a PS4 and a new a/v receiver. A few cables I had to toss which was annoying part but someone told a cable is a cable is a cable, they are all the same and buy the cheapest. So now I know, thank you!
Yeah, I learned this the hard way, too. My old HDMI cable works well for 1080p content, but for 4K HDR the video would stutter. I learned that for 4K HDR the cable must be a certified high speed HDMI cable of around 18gbps or more. Live and learn!
Bought an Apple TV 4K and experienced audio drops, glitches, pink screens, etc. I realized I was running the same HDMI cables from my first 1080p capable TV. I have a Samsung with the connect box, so the stack is tidy. Found short Audioquest cables perfect for my purpose, 4K 4:2:2 with LPCM has been flawless.
👍🏾 for that thumbnail! Thanks for updating me on cables. My brother inlaw just gifted me an 8k cable for our incoming sony x85k, which I haven’t seen a review from you. Thanks again
I like seeing all your videos, infact I have been seeing most of your videos over the years but did not comment, but today is the day that I should take the first step to say thank you for all that you posted over the years, this video was something which mostly people would not know much about HDMI cables or even have the knowledge that what it does, and does not. Yes it was very informative and as technology keeps changing every moment one should also know that buying a TV is not just important but also what you connect also plays an important role which many of us would not know. Thank you once again. You make things simple to understand
When I was testing Oppo players, I asked a friend of mine with the company what he thought of expensive HDMI cables, and he asked, "Do you see a picture with sound?" and I said "Yes", and he said, "then your cable is good.", which has turned out to be solid advice. They built what is arguably the finest DVD/BD deck ever built, the 205, and it came with a cable. It always worked. I've had HDMI problems, but they all sprang from the AVR as source.
I have a 15 meter Active Optic Fibre going from my 4K player to my 4K projector. I also bought 2 optic fibre 2 meter length cables on Amazon; it gives you a perfect clean picture, no specks, they were about $30 each on Amazon.I’m changing all my HDMI cable’s over to optic fibre. Cheers
Late, but I just bought an OLED TV and soundbar, my first soundbar, and looking to understand the best set up led me to your optical vs HDMI video, breadcrumbed me to this one. Went to your site to see which cables you recommend...long story to thank you for saving me money. I wound up getting the 3 pack of color coded cables for half the price of the recommended cable, which may be great but seemed a rip-off. I appreciate it. The TV was quite expensive for me so not spending more than necessary on cables is appreciated.
Thanks! Super useful and was totally unaware ... except I know that older cables caused problems ... I just threw out all of my old ones out of frustration a couple weeks ago. Turns out probably a good move.
This is awesome. I just purchased a LG OLED C2 and it's epic. It told me to upgrade my HDMI cable through my invidiashield and I didn't know what to buy? This really helps ...thanks !
Linus Tech Tips did a great review on HDMI cables. Linus bought a $10K cable tester and a whole bunch of common HDMI cables and the results were pretty thorough. Basically, most of the cables touting 2.1 standards failed miserably. Including Monoprice. Infinite Cables consistently performed as advertised and are not expensive. The only exception is their fiber optic long HDMIs. They are expensive, but not as much as the uber-expensive cables for money-spending enthusiasts.
Link? I had a 5m inwall run of a 2.1 48gbps monoprice that did not work. Returned for a cable matters optical (and cable matters copper, ran both as backup) that both worked great. So i hear you on the monoprice house brand junk, surprised so many ppl push that outfit as reputable.
@@grimzadi2480 Their expensive but their reliable, if imma spend 2K on a T.V i will spend the extra $100 for a proper cable, what cables do you suggest?
Close, 1 meter = 3.28084 feet or 3’-3.37” & 2 meters is 6.56168 feet or 6’-6.74”. But completely agree that he misspoke on the lengths a few times & came to the comments to see if anyone else caught it.
Yeah, he said if you are more than 2 meters or 10' get an aoc cable, but which is it? Thats why I was watching the video since 9 feet is in between and what I want
Thanks Caleb for the video. I appreciate that you took the time to do this, especially since everything is clear as mud throughout the cable industry. It gave me food for thought and I'll be trying to look at the best options for me.
I like Blue Jeans Cables. They have a cable for any application up to HDMI 2.0. They won’t honestly certify any cable as HDMI 2.1, because the testing spec STILL isn’t well defined (the “mess” mentioned in this video). They address whether their “FE” spec cable will ultimately meet a 2.1 spec, and don’t lie about the answer. Also, they identify where each of their cable families are made. A very trustworthy source.
Thanks for watching, everyone! Please see the description for a list of resources used for info in this video as well as helpful info on recommended HDMI 2.1 standards and verification practices.
Pro Tip for advanced Users regarding stresstesting HDMI Cables: (because Resolution, FPS/Hz and even HDR are only one half of the video signal)
If you own a PC or Laptop with a modern GPU/Graphicscard, connect it to your TV via HDMI and set Resolution and FPS/hz to what you want to test (like 4K 60hz/FPS) ... then go into the GPU Settings (Nvidia Control Panel, AMD Radeon Software ect.) and look for the Setting that lets you choose the Pixelformat (like RGB... & YCbCR...). Based on the TV/Screen you have (it needs to support the higher end formats), there should be a couple of settings to choose from ... the most demanding Format (regarding Cables) is "RGB 4:4:4 Full Range" at 8, 10 or even 12 Bit. If your TV/Screen supports this, activate it and see if it you have a stable connection for about an hour. I've had plenty of self proclaimed high end cables which seemingly supported these types of outputs, but a lot of them had the tendency to randomly loose the signal (short interruptions aka black screens) after some time of usage. PS.: Sometimes TVs/Screens don't correctly report their supported signal formats to the graphics card and let you choose formats they themselfes do not support. AMD has a Setting called "HDMI Link Assurance" to prevent this from happending. Nvidia should revert to previous Settings (if you receive a black screen after applying) after about 15 Seconds, if i remember correctly ... don't quote me on that^^ And Intel ... *sigh* ... just don't try this stuff with Intel GPUs, trust me. Kind Regards
SVS HDMI cables are working to perfection, cables should not have to break the bank sound and picture are perfect and are fully in compliance everyone should have a look see..
I already knew about everything in this video from reading on it a few months ago but I literally decided to click and watch the whole thing because of that MASTERFUL thumbnail
The perfect video I didn't know I needed. In the market for a new TV and I'm going big. Looking to do that clean cable management behind the wall. Glad to know that I'm going to need specific cables for that, don't wanna burn my house down. Thanks
Thanks for the explanation on this type of cable I understand it a bit more than before this video. Yes, your technical videos like this are much appreciated and needed by some of your viewers like myself. If you can would you do a video on the components hooked up to your TV at home and in the office?
I had to buy an 8K fiber HDMI 48Gbps 50ft cable to go from my Onkyo to my viewsonic laser projector. Distance - is - everything when thinking about a digital signal. Even if you don't have 8K anything, you need the largest bandwidth straw you can get if you are running 4K from a device, into another device, and then out to another device. You need signal amplification and zero signal degradation. Fiber is the only patch cable spec that can do all of that. Anyway I went through two different fiber cables, the first one would glitch and sputter the signal like a copper HDMI cable did. So I spent more money on a very high spec fiber cable and - POOF- awesomeness ensued.
I'm thinking of running the same set up. 4K source to 4k projector with 2.1 HDMI inputs. I would like the full bandwidth at 20 ft. What 8K HDMI Fiber did you end up using?
I've been involved in Audio/Video both as a consumer and professionally for 40 years. Cables make very little difference in spite of manufacturers telling you you should spend $2k on an 8ft pair of OFC speaker cables, they are full of crap. This is even more so for digital signals, as stated here it's more quality of construction, I'll never pay more than $30 for a 6ft HDMI cable. My Amazon cables both 4K and the 8K cost under $30 and pass Dolby Atmos/Vision no problem.
Yep I've been running into problems with handshakes between my TV, soundbar, ps5 and an hdmi switch box for the last week or two. Such a pain. The problem is that who knows if it's the cables or the devices??! Or, simplest SETTINGS in the devices. They have really over-complicated things.
Brother I found you a few years ago and you give great thoughts as well as instructions on how to configure a quality picture on various tv's. 40 years ago I was an audio geek and but now (exhales) I need the help. Thanks mate.
I kind of think HDMI has come to its end. If you have to totally re-spec everything, and the old cables won't work anymore, then maybe a totally new interconnect is called for.
@8:40you say "You'll be safest if you don't buy a cable under 1 metre or 6 feet" 1 metre is not 6 feet = it's 3 feet Did you mean 1 metre / 3 feet or did you mean 2 metres / 6 feet ??
For the longest time I used a R2000 ($100), 2m cable from my Samsung QLED tv to my Denon AVR. Recently changed it to a R199 ($10), 3m cable. I don’t have the specs of these cables but I can say the cheaper cable improved the picture. I’m still sing the more expensive cable from my Apple TV to the AVR, and it seems to work fine. Issue is only when I reconnect it to the tv.
We need a video that explains all the stuff about this new LEDs versus OLED versus I forget the other LEDs, so can you have a video like that much thanks
we mainly customize HDMI DP TYPE C VGA DVI Cables for any request of your order. You just only let us know, 1080P, 4k, 8k request, and we would choose the right cable Cores and even with the IC to confirm the 4K, 8K such as cable adaptors dp-hdmi or type c to hdmi. for hdmi and dp cable, we could make up to 10meters by thickness 7.3mm cable,. for more 11-200meters we advice made by Aoc fiber cable which be proved nice solution. we support Customize any connector and length of cable.
Cool video, already shared with a few people at work to expaln this as we get asked it a lot! Some more back to basic series for 2022 would be nice (Refresh rate, sound options (Dobly,DTS:X and OTS)
Audioquest is the king of snake oil 😂 I mean sure they look nice but they claim “better” Audio and video and those are lies. $80 for a 10ft cable is ridiculous.
Good stuff, having just went through my home gaming setup I had to learn a lot to make it all play nice, this is a good intro video to understand the basics on why stuff don’t work definitely a more advanced primer is required if your setup goes beyond the very basic, and he does state that however it’s something to be doubly aware of… I almost lost my mind setting mine up but it is so good now :)
Infinite Cables are the only cables to buy in my opinion. I have tried to buy cables by all given advice and quality was never as advertised and I had too do too many returns for weak signal handling.
Hi Caleb I'm new to all of this Before I just bought the HDMI cable by the length I wanted. Now I have an LG Smart tv 4K 2022 and a low end sound bar 3.1 I need to know a lot more. Like otherss have said its a jungle out there. Some computer stores have so many HDMI cables in store and the prices range from $3 to $150 and they have spec like ethernet or 4K or 8K on them. Most of the staff have never heard of HDMI ARC or E
The ARC still keeps coming off where the tv speakers are on instead of my soundbar. Thought I fixed it. The other cables next to the ARC kept kicking it off. Then over a day without the other cables in the ARC kicks off again. Even got the supposed "8K" cable does it. Must be either the soundbar or the U7G giving the problem as I had no problems with my old Vizio tv.
This is my problem. Tv sound coming out and not youtube or netflix sound. Restarting tv fix it. But keeps happening againnext time you switch. Have you solved the problem? Thinking of maybe switching to shorter cable
One misconception is the "it works or it doesn't" nature of failure when pushing HDMI cables beyond their limits. I've only got my own experience to go on, but when I went from 1080p to 4k, I soon discovered that my good quality 10m HDMI cable was not up to the job, and particularly no good for 4k60 4:4:4. I would still get an image, but there'd by white sparkles/snow over it and occasional drop outs. Switching to a 10m Ruipro fibre HDMI solved all the issues for me. So whilst a better/more expensive cable is *not* going to improve your image, a cable that's being pushed just beyond its limits will show up as image problems, not as a blank screen.
At index 8:40 you said "Your best not to buy a cable under 1 meter or 6 feet" and then repeat the same thing again several more times in one version or another speaking as though they were similar or equivalent lengths. But 1M is not the same as 6' or even close... 1 meter is only 3.28 feet and 6 feet is actually 1.82 meters, 2 meters is 6.56 feet (some sellers offer 2m lengths). So are you saying either length is OK even as short as 1m/3.28 feet, or are you saying stay above 6 feet which would actually be 1.82m?
Hi Caleb, thanks for a great video! In South Africa we have an issue with long cable runs, old and newer equipment mixed in one installation. I found that converting baluns to Cat6 for longer runs work well, the trick comes in on the cost of the baluns, I found that the same applies as to the HDMI cable, the cheaper ones are crap, the high end ones sounds like snake oil so the best would be floating in the middle.
I had issues with the HDMI cable that came with my PS5. The video would periodically cut to black, even after following the suggestion Sony provided which is to change some setting in the console. After changing out the HDMI cable it went away!
@@dolivper what is the difference exactly though? do the 2.1 cables have more pins connected or do the old cables still have all the same pins but not the same processing chips in the cable connectors?
@@andreamitchell4758 I honestly have no idea, I just read on reddit that some of the very first PS5s on the market did not came with 2.1 cables (maybe now they do) so I decided to buy a new cable to replace the one that came in the box with the PS5 and I immediately felt the change with the higher fps, it went from like 50hz to 90-100hz
I suppose they did that because when the ps5 came out tv's did not support the new hdmi, so they just put in the box the cheaper cable (this is just my thought)
Im using a lg oled c1 4k 120hz gaming tv for a pc monitor. I just used a simple ikea hdmi cable and that works flawlessly🤷🏼♂️ and yes im actually running 4k 120hz 10bit picture.
So the question I would have, is how do I tell if the cable I am using is actually doing the job at the rated performance. Just because a cable works does not mean that the two devices have not negotiated to a lower bandwidth or speed to make a stable connection. In other words its more than just if I have picture and sound its perfect because a cheep cable can make picture and sound work just not at the rates needed for say a Xbox Series X. So for a couple TVs how do you display the status of the connection to verify that I am getting full 48 Gbits/sec?
I just bought a headset and I am having seriously annoying issues just trying to get it to work. I think I need a better HDMI cable, so I come on to RUclips and now my head is spinning because all this tech talk goes over my head. I have an xbox series X and all I want to do is get the best cable for it that I can and try to get this headset to work, can you please help me?
Advice please! My face will be about 9 feet away from the TV. My TV use will be evenly split between gaming on the Switch (SDR), streaming movies/Netflix, and streaming RUclips. Total TV time will average 10 hours per week or less. Unfortunately, the perfect TV you posted a month ago slipped by before I could get it on Prime day (the 77" A80J for only $2000 which is my budget). The three TV's I'm primarily considering are A) $1500 Hisense - 75" Class U8H Series Quantum ULED 4K UHD Smart Google TV B) $1900 Samsung - 65” Class S95B OLED 4K Smart Tizen TV C) $1500 Sony - 75" Class BRAVIA XR X90K 4K HDR Full Array LED Google TV Biggest concern going non-Sony is whether the upscaling for the Switch will be too lackluster. So S95B looks ideal, except that it's only 65".
At 8:38 He says to not buy anything shorter than 1 Meter or 6 Feet,,, which is Confusing since 1 Meter is 3 feet 3 Inches and not 6 Feet... I bought my Cables at Costco which are 8 Feet and have 48 G/bps... Costco has a no Questions return Policy for 90 Days..
I’ve bought most of mine from the dollar tree. I’m still looking for one that doesn’t work. I had one go bad, but otherwise can’t tell the difference between those and the $35 ones.
I am certainly having a few teething problems ... one of the more expensive high speed HDMi cables I bought a year or two back has a plastic 'shielding' sheath which is so inflexible and heavy that it does not look at all comfortable in the flimsy TV inputs and it curls out of the side of my new Sony 55 A94L like Minnie mouse's ears. Every time I boot up my system something changes or fails to perform. In fairness I am still at the setting up stage - and I will eventually come to terms with my settings. Then I might stop fiddling with the 4 identical remotes and the menus which disable something I set up three days before. The HDMi cable is ill conceived and over complex - it is certainly not a plug!
I had problems with even an Amazon basics HDMI 2.1 cable (six feet), I'd have lots of graphical glitches with my RTX 3080 and 65" LG C2 at 4k / 120hz / HDR / 10 bit. Wasn't a problem with that individual cable, it seems all the cheap cables have this issue. Had to go and buy a $60 HDMI 2.1 cable from Best Buy (brand name Audio Quest). No more issues.
@@Redmanticore Yeah..No. You probably dont use any features of HDMI 2.1. Do you use them with 4k120 Hz in HDR and Dolby Atmos all at once? No? Yeah, thought so. Because I guarrantee you that deltaco wont handle it. Like at all...
This was very helpful. What do I think about this content? Well, I wish I didn't have to know it, but if I (or anyone else) wanst to get the most out of the investment in a/v hardware, it's required viewing. Thank you for putting it out in an easily-digestable format. 10/10
The only thing that you are not mentionning is that the thruput depens not only of the speed but the distance also. Cable with super fast need regenerator at both end of the cable.
I put good quality HDMI cables in the wall a couple years ago so I can plug the TV into the top HDMI outlets and connect the bottom HDMI outlets to the internet provider, sound bar, etc. How long until I need to open up the wall to swap in new cables? EDIT: 6' cables in the wall so I'm hoping I'm OK for a while. I just picked up a TCL QM8 65" on sale for $901. It works fine with the cables. Will be adding a Samsung 990C soundbar once the prices come down (Black Friday?).
Thanks for the content! Curious why you didn't mention HDMI over Ethernet and BALUN connections. I have running to my projector and it can support up to 4K 60hz with Dolby Vision and HDR up to 164 ft. It would be great to hear your perspective on it compared to the other options you went over.
Hello. I am considering on using the hdmi over Ethernet connection for a longer run around 25 to 30 ft. The devices that will be connected are the following: The PS5 and Xbox series x.
@@dkoneify speaking from experience I would go with an hdmi fiber optic cable instead . I ran an hdmi with Ethernet to my projector over 25’ and it kept losing signal when I played my ps5. The hdmi fiber optic cable worked flawlessly over long runs .
I just want to get the best cable for gaming on my Xbox series X and to try get this new headset to work. I am finding all this tech talk a bit too much to keep up with, so for the Xbox series X what cable is without a doubt the best cable to use and I will look into it. Thank you for any help you can give.
Curious if the future will be USB C cables for everything including replacing HDMI? Also, I think they should start color coding HDMI ports and cables like they do with USB versions. Make it much easier to identify with the standard user.
“2 meters, or 10 feet”… Why did he say that as if they’re the same around the 9:30 mark? Should I reconsider my choice if the cord is over 2 meters, or if it’s over 10 feet?
Since every HDMI is 2.1 "compliant" now, regardless of what feature set they actually support, there's bound to be a lot of "2.1" certified cables on the market that will most certainly crap the bed with anything that requires higher bandwith.
For those on a budget, Amazon Basics HDMI cables can be a great option. Right now, you can get a 1 meter, 48gbps HMDI2.1 Amazon Basics HDMI cable for just $6.39.

Please! Please do a video on HDMI SWITCH Boxes. In a kid's room & guest room we have 32 inch HDTVs (1080p) with two ports port one being ARC and connected to a compact soundbar, the other port connected to Switch. Connected to Switch are multiple sources eg Apple TV, Cable box, etc. From Switch we get good picture but no sound to soundbar via HDMI. Strangely, if just one device is connected to the HDMI Switch we do get sound from soundbar via HDMI. Also confusing is we get sound from TV Speaker and we can get sound from Optical Audio. We get HDMI sound from each device when directly connected. I got different cables rated 4k and higher, length = 1 meter, I even got a new switch, same model same problem. At this point the leading suspect is not TV, cables or devices, so what to look for in HDMI Switch Boxes? Are claims of 4K just nonsense?
Wanna hear something funny? My over 12 (twelve!) year old HDMI cables work PERFECT with my Playstation and Panasonic UB824 connected to my 4k HDR10+ panasonic tv. They are high quality cables though being the AudioQuest Forrest and only 2 meter of lenght. But they are the old model with black shiny connector and the other one with the green rubbery connector. The are ‘High speed with ethernet’ but no 4k or hdr mentioned on the box. Just 1080p and 3D. Is this ‘Premium high speed’ and ‘ultra high speed’ labeling just a sales trick or are my cables just an exception because they are from a very high quality brand that they still work flawlessly? If RUclips is in small or regular mode the speed seems to be OK, but if I change the screen to theater mode or full screen mode, I get a voice delay. Help. Great video. Thanks
I'm either extremely unlucky or there are a lot of junk cables out there. I bought 5 different 3ft 2.1 HDMI cables, and they all had issues. 3 would drop the signal no matter what TV and device I plugged it into. The other 2 couldn't carry a TrueHD Atmos signal, so I would get audio drops and pops frequently. I am desperate to find a good cable capable of 4k HDR10+ with TrueHD Atmos.
My issue has been that I have lip sync issues when i have my audio going to my receiver and video going to my tv directly from the 4k player. I was initially losing connection so i upgraded the cables. That fixed the connection issue. But i just get the audio to sync up. Even after playing with all the audio settings on the tv, player, and receiver

Cheers
Thanks. Much needed Caleb. More of these please. Reviews are cool but we have ton of options. Explaining tech we need, not so much
Late, but I just bought an OLED TV and soundbar, my first soundbar, and looking to understand the best set up led me to your optical vs HDMI video, breadcrumbed me to this one.
Thank you Mike! Glad the video was helpful to you
This is awesome. I just purchased a LG OLED C2 and it's epic. It told me to upgrade my HDMI cable through my invidiashield and I didn't know what to buy? This really helps ...thanks !
I just have to say that the Cable Guy thumbnail is absolutely everything!
Monster cables are king 🤴🏼
@@walterwhite1 King of the ridiculously overpriced
Linus and LTT's tests and reviews have been revealed to be sometimes fraudulent. Don't trust them.
Ever since I found your channel I watch every video and even more when I’m doing my research specially on tvs.
Liked just for the thumbnail! very informative as usual.
1 meter is 3 ft. A 6 ft cable is 2 meters. There were a couple of instances where you misspoke these measurements. 8:30 mark being one of them.
I’m also wondering which it is. His comment above does not clarify, he just reassures us that Americans use Feet😂😂😂
I know how to choose my cables, just saw the need to congratulate you on the cableguy thumbnail, you deserve a raise.
Thanks Caleb for the video. I appreciate that you took the time to do this, especially since everything is clear as mud throughout the cable industry. It gave me food for thought and I'll be trying to look at the best options for me.
OMG this thumbnail made my day, Great job Caleb!
Woooooow potentially the best thumbnail I’ve seen! Give whoever did that a raise!
Great thumbnail! Thanks for the info.
Lol Caleb's 90's acoustic guitar album coffeeshop picture 😂
Pro Tip for advanced Users regarding stresstesting HDMI Cables:
(because Resolution, FPS/Hz and even HDR are only one half of the video signal)
Yeah. I tried all 3 chroma fornats on a Google Chromecast with a plasma, and they surprisingly worked.
Don’t forget audio, it can be surprisingly hungry too. E.g. Dolby True HD can take up to 18mbs apparently.
Glad I found your channel. On Black Friday purchasing a Samsung S95B.
Wow,fantastic video.Wish more went into this much depth.Very helpful.
I find the 'tech talk' very informative. We need more of that!
I kind of think HDMI has come to its end. If you have to totally re-spec everything, and the old cables won't work anymore, then maybe a totally new interconnect is called for.
thumbnail brought me, content kept me, well done!
Loved getting into the weeds with you on this topic! No too granular, just about right 🙏🏼💯
@8:40you say
"You'll be safest if you don't buy a cable under 1 metre or 6 feet"
1 metre is not 6 feet = it's 3 feet
Did you mean 1 metre / 3 feet or did you mean 2 metres / 6 feet ??
I've been using Audioquest Pearl 48 HDMI cables. They're well-built, they work, and they aren't in snake oil territory.
Hi Caleb
I'm new to all of this
Before I just bought the HDMI cable by the length I wanted.
@docsmokyalian1397 Still does it.
Zeskit makes a true 8K cable.
What are your views on Fibre Optic HDMI 2.1 cables?
I have the FIBBR 8K HDMI Fiber Optic Cable 1M, 48Gbps 8K HDMI 2.1 Cable
White sparkles... Ohhh: snow, like analog! Just turn the rabbit ears...😆
PS5 does not come with a 2.1 hdmi cable, thats why you need a new one for newer TVs
@@dolivper what is the difference exactly though? do the 2.1 cables have more pins connected
or do the old cables still have all the same pins but not the same processing chips in the cable connectors?
@@andreamitchell4758 I honestly have no idea, I just read on reddit that some of the very first PS5s on the market did not came with 2.1 cables (maybe now they do) so I decided to buy a new cable to replace the one that came in the box with the PS5 and I immediately felt the change with the higher fps, it went from like 50hz to 90-100hz
I suppose they did that because when the ps5 came out tv's did not support the new hdmi, so they just put in the box the cheaper cable (this is just my thought)
That’s not true. Sony ps5 comes with 2.1 cable
Im using a lg oled c1 4k 120hz gaming tv for a pc monitor. I just used a simple ikea hdmi cable and that works flawlessly🤷🏼♂️ and yes im actually running 4k 120hz 10bit picture.
Excellent! How long is the Ikea cable? Seems like IKEA sources solid stuff (sometimes, LOL). I mean, they use Sonia for speakers, sooo …
@@Caleb_Denison i think it is 1,5 meters. Yes actually they supposedly have the best aa and aaa batteries as well🤷🏼♂️😃
I’ve been using the Belkin HDMI 2.1 cables and they’ve been great.
I immediately click and come straight to comment here after I saw that thumbnail. What the heck haha. Very creative. Love the movie too 😆
So the question I would have, is how do I tell if the cable I am using is actually doing the job at the rated performance.
The thumbnail brought me in and I’m glad I did. That you for all the info. Just subscribed. ❤️💯
The three TV's I'm primarily considering are
A) $1500 Hisense - 75" Class U8H Series Quantum ULED 4K UHD Smart Google TV
B) $1900 Samsung - 65” Class S95B OLED 4K Smart Tizen TV
C) $1500 Sony - 75" Class BRAVIA XR X90K 4K HDR Full Array LED Google TV
Biggest concern going non-Sony is whether the upscaling for the Switch will be too lackluster.
Hands down the best thumbnail of the 2020's
You didn’t say when or what to use a 2.1 HDMI cable for?! Can they be used on all HDMI devices, new and old?
I had problems with even an Amazon basics HDMI 2.1 cable (six feet), I'd have lots of graphical glitches with my RTX 3080 and 65" LG C2 at 4k / 120hz / HDR / 10 bit. Wasn't a problem with that individual cable, it seems all the cheap cables have this issue. Had to go and buy a $60 HDMI 2.1 cable from Best Buy (brand name Audio Quest). No more issues.
my 12 euro 2meter deltaco has been fine.
I recommend fiber hdmi cables for next generation gaming system and avr/pre processors
My LG TV only has arc. My 5.1 sound bar has earc. Can you suggest adapters that can convert my TV arc to earc to hear better sound than before.
eARC is backward compatible with ARC. The "e" means enhanced, you cannot convert your TV, and there would be no change in sound.
Thank you, yes I like the deeper content regarding the equipment we may be using.
Thanks for the content! Curious why you didn't mention HDMI over Ethernet and BALUN connections. I have running to my projector and it can support up to 4K 60hz with Dolby Vision and HDR up to 164 ft. It would be great to hear your perspective on it compared to the other options you went over.
Absolutely! That sort of setup is usually the purview of installers and integrators rather than the average consumer, but it is also a great option!
Usb-C is the same mess nowadays. Fricking shame
I got my selft a 20ft optical hdmi 8k support and it works fantastic and its thin and flexible inside the wall
This kind of content is vital, thank you.
“2 meters, or 10 feet”… Why did he say that as if they’re the same around the 9:30 mark? Should I reconsider my choice if the cord is over 2 meters, or if it’s over 10 feet?
Excellent pic The Cable Guy 👏👍
Your videos are always so helpful! Thank you!

I Don't Have a 4K Blu-Ray Player Yet But I Do Watch Hi-Def Content via Streaming Services and I Still Have a Large Collection of Blu-Ray Discs. I Replaced the Aventon HDMI Cables With These And Although I Really Can't Tell The Difference I Can Honestly Say They Definitely Aren't a Step Down From Them, That's For Sure. I Don't Have Audioquest Cinnamon HDMI Money Right Now So I Went With These For Now. I Can't Wait Till I Finally Purchase a 4K UHD Blu-Ray Player To Go With My New 4K UHD...
Well I believe that HDMI should put on the jacket of the cable what version of HDMI it is so you don't have to guess
I have been a tech person (designer) for years! I have used HDMI for a long time. I have NEVER seen much difference in a HDMI cable! So, if you want to throw your money away looking for this "GREAT" cable, I'll be glad to take your cash. Can you say gold-plated HDMI cables?
I could only find 1 cable on amazon that was a 2.1/8K HDMI cable and I had never heard of it. It works great though, it was a Zeskit Maya.
Have you performed a stresstesting with it? I just bought that one and I wonder if I made a good purchase
I have Sony Bravia A80K along with connected to 4K Set Top Box...I was wondering about Which HDMI Cable to use to connect both with each other and your Video just dropped...Very Helpful....Thank You
Basically any HDMI cable will work. If you're using a PC with 4k/120hz/hdr/vrr then you need a legit HDMI 2.1 with 48gbps
HDMI 2.1, doing what display port 1.4 has done since 2016 but with more issues.
If I have HDMI 2.1 cable from my ATV4K to AVR that only has 2.0 HDMI
and then out to TV with 2.1 cable via eARC (2.1) am I losing the benefit of 48gbs because the AVR is not 2.1 capable?
Please explain😅
I purchased a Highwings 8K@60 Long HDMI Cable 15FT, 48Gbps 2.1 High Speed Gaming HDMI Cord 4K120 144Hz RTX 3090 eARC HDCP 2.2&2.3 Compatible for PS5, SoundBar, AVR, UHD TV, to connect my Dell Inspiron 15 7000 gaming laptop 7567 with a NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB GDDR5 graphics memory, to my TV for RUclips programs on a larger screen. If RUclips is in small or regular mode the speed seems to be OK, but if I change the screen to theater mode or full screen mode, I get a voice delay. Help. Great video. Thanks
9:00 Um, in america we use imperial measurement, not metric mister. Are you Canadian?
I'm either extremely unlucky or there are a lot of junk cables out there. I bought 5 different 3ft 2.1 HDMI cables, and they all had issues. 3 would drop the signal no matter what TV and device I plugged it into. The other 2 couldn't carry a TrueHD Atmos signal, so I would get audio drops and pops frequently. I am desperate to find a good cable capable of 4k HDR10+ with TrueHD Atmos.
It would save a us a lot trouble if manufacturers just put which version the cable is somewhere on the packaging🤷🏻♂️
And you don't think Chinese manufacturers will fake it?
Thanks. I new the basics. But need to upgrade .I have a basic setup. I have been sidetracked by major health issues. GOOD VIDEO 🙂😎
