Stop Out nightclub, formerly Alalees was run by Alan and Lee who oversaw one of Ilford's most well known going-out venues. The corner premises had been well known before that during its time as Ajax until the mid-1960s. It was a sports equipment, toys and games shop which also had a huge impact on the local community. Within the Victorian terrace preceding it sat Bee Jay Amusements which was cashing in on the explosion of arcade video games from the late 70s. Clubbing and amusement arcades are both passtimes which no longer exist in many, if any UK town centres today.
