stacie sheppard I mean.. she has a mattress but it’s integrated into the frame, so it’s probably even heavier than your mattress. I like the idea of a mattress topper though because then I’d have an easier time changing the fitted sheets
Sheets! There are three things to look for in sheets-the thread count, the type of cotton used to make them, and the weave. Higher thread counts are good, up to a point. Too high and the sheets get stiff and they make you hotter when you sleep, because there is little space between the threads for heat to escape. 400-800 is good. Egyptian cotton is very soft. So is most Turkish cotton and pima (sometimes called Supima) cotton. If the fibers are combed/carded before spinning, that makes the thread smoother. The weave-a sateen weave creates a smoother feel on the surface of the sheet. A plain weave, the basic over/under/over that you learn in kindergarten, has a slightly more bumpy feel. You really need to feel the fabric before you buy sheets, as various combinations of these three factors create very different feeling sheets. (I used to sell sheets for Macy’s in the US.)
@@Tweeza57 a tighter weave is going to make it harder to remove bacteria and evidence of bodily fluids. generally you dont have to worry about your own bacteria at home. your sheets dont need to come perfectly clean thouands of times.

I totally agree with keeping your bedding simple. I have had huge comforters before, but my two cats sleeping with me made it too hot. So now I keep it super simple.

Great video. After spending time in Denmark and Sweden in the past couple of years I have changed over my bedding to a very similar approach. The one thing I do different is to fold the duvet intothirds and store it at the foot of my bed until time to go to sleep. Then I simply reach down and grab the top edge and pull it up and it unfolds over me into a comfortable nest for sleeping.

HOW TO MAKE A SWEDISH BED 1. Fondation base + legs (matress on legs) /or/ Slatted matress bed + spring matress + legs Option : add a bed frame with springs, a headboard, a footboard 2. Bed skirt Washable - rarely washed 3. Matress topper Option : memory foam Freshen up with bicarbonate (sprinkle, leave 20 min, vacuum), then air out on a chair outside 4. Matress protector Washable - every 3 times you wash your sheets 5. Flat sheet /or/ fitted sheet Washable - every wash 6. Pillow Wash once a year Option : memory foam 7. Pillow protector Washable - every 3 times you wash your sheets 8. Pillow case Washable - every wash 9. Duvet (1 or 2) Wash once a year 10. Duvet cover Washable - every wash 11. Wool throw at the foot of the bed for pets This setup does not change between winter and summer Air out your bedding outside regularly, use cotton bedding, a lower thread count means softer fabric, make sure to feel the sheets in store before buying your bedding.
Cats love comfort and love a clean bed. I find that their fur weaves itself into the wool blankets so I use white cotton sheets to cover my bed so they can't get to my wool or quilts.
A few weeks ago I switched to a single duvet for my double bed. I was tired of fighting with all the extra fabric of the double duvet that had been my "standard". Not only is the single less expensive, easier to wash and quicker to make the bed. It gives me more than enough coverage for sleeping. And, yes, I also have many feline co-sleepers!!!! I switched to all white bedding because it not only looks "peaceful" but it launders well, especially when I need to use bleach. The cats like to camp out on the bed at all times. For critters who spend most of their lives washing themselves, cats leave behind all sorts of "bits". I have an IKEA bed, so I guess mine is now Swedish through adoption! Love your videos & look forward to them.
My luxury bed setup (a good investment for my chronic bad pain), from bottom to top: remote-control adjustable bed, natural latex mattress, wool topper, cotton covered- and-filled mattress pad, linen sheets, linen duvet cover with no filling (warm climate, hot sleeper), cotton blanket in winter. So, most of the time, three layers of linen as only cover. I use two 700-fill down pillows with first a microfiber protector, then a cotton protector over that, then silk pillowcase on one pillow for night, linen on one for day, if on bedrest (less slippery). I was reluctant to try the wool topper because I thought it would be hot, but it isn’t, it just helps regulate the mattress temperature year-round, reducing hot or cold spots. And it’s machine-washable. I always leave a loose, warm blanket or throw for my cat to go under during the day when the heat is off (about 9-19 months/year here), she loves that, or even goes under all the bedcovers.
This looks so lovely. We have a bed base, which is like a box spring but around 6 inches deep, and is a more ‘traditional’ method in the UK than slats, then a sprung mattress on top. Everything is natural fibres, from our wool pillow top mattress to the blanket we use as a mattress protector, and even our duvet is wool. It’s simple and easy. White sheets too as they’re so easy to keep looking good. We also have the same set up year round, as the natural fibres help with temperature regulation. We own two sets of bedding and wash weekly (and have had the same sets for 5 years, repaired as needed). Our bed frame is a bit more ‘fancy’ than yours - it’s a hand made wrought iron traditional frame, built locally. Painted a creamy white and with proper brass bedknobs. It was our housewarming gift to ourselves when we bought our home, and it should last several generations!
I've been binge watching your channel this past week and can't get enough. So satisfying and relaxing to watch. I even started watching the restoration channel you recommended before i go to sleep! Thankyou for making such beautiful content :)
So easy to listen to and watch your very elegant and comprehensive videos. Simple, elegant and lovely. Thank you so much for sharing your time and home.
I’m American and I make my bed the same way as you. When I started using duvet covers 25 years ago I thought it was silly to keep using a top sheet! Also, I have 5 kids and getting rid of just one item of bedding makes a huge difference in the time commitment of changing sheets. My kids find it easier to make their bed without needing to wrestle with the top sheet...bonus!
I love how minimal your bed looks, I have a double bed and switched my duvet to a twin size so it lays perfectly on top without much fabric overhang. It looks so clean 👍
Fascinating! All this time, I thought the foundation was a box spring, and the mattress topper was the actual mattress, and I wondered how comfortable that could be. Thanks for sharing! ❤️
I was curious if there was some special sheet-tucking method in Sweden that I never heard of, lol. Nope, just a simple bed. Mine is very similar here in Florida. Mattress protector, grey cotton fitted sheet, lightweight duvet with a tan striped cotton cover, down pillows with protectors and white pillowcases, and two throw blankets at the foot of the bed (grey one for me, brown one for my partner, though our feline family uses them more than we do!). Oh, and since there's two humans and four felines sleeping in our bed, everything is king-sized!
In Australia slat beds are quite popular but you can still get a mattress and base set up. The difference is, the base looks like a mattress on legs but you can't sleep on it as it has almost no padding and the mattress is about the same size as the base. You can also add a mattress topper if you want.
The most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in was at the Hotel Rival in Stockholm. That was years ago but I still remember how cozy it felt. I haven’t been able to replicate that feeling. Maybe your method is the first step! Thanks for sharing.
The most comfortable bed I've ever slept in was at the Time Hotel in Stockholm yesterday and the day before, whilst travelling for work. My goal is to replicate that style in my bedroom here in the UK, if I can get my wife onboard with that 🙂 PS: It was a shock getting back in my own bed. It suddenly felt rock hard...
In Finland, the duvet covers have holes at the top too, so you don't have turn the cover inside out in order to get the duvet in. You just put hands through the holes, grab the duvet and voila! That's why I never buy duvet covers from Ikea or H&M Home. They don't have holes! 😄 Otherwise we make the bed the same way than in Sweden.
Hello from the UK Benita, your bed routine is so similar to my own. We use pillow protectors and a mattress protector too (from Ikea actually) and I also use the bicarb on my mattress too. I use a flour shaker (it looks like a stainless steel mug with a lid that's full of holes) it's perfect for even sprinkling all over the mattress. I always add around 15-20 drops of lavender essential oil to around half a cup of bicarb too, it leaves a beautiful, restful scent. I also use this same mix to sprinkle across the carpet too (we're always careful to make sure our furbaby Jade isn't in the room until everything is vacuumed tho, so that she doesn't breathe it in.) Thank you for a fabulous video as always, have a wonderful week, hugs x
This is so similar to my set up here in Australia, even down to the deoderising with bicarb 😊 I have a mattress, topper, protector, fitted sheet, flat sheet, duvet (we call it a doona) and cover. In winter I put a light blanket over the top. In summer we kick it all off when we get in 😉 Otherwise it's the same all year round
Really surprised how calming that was. One thing I do differently......having three bed sizes and five bedrooms to manage, I color code the sheets and covers for each room. This saves a great deal of aggravation on laundry days. And everyone gets a favorite color.
We, in the US, have similar beds called a platform bed. Used to be, only low to the floor could be found. Now they come in various heights. Ikea is here in the States. So now have more readily available choices. More modern designs being done now by other manufacturers as well. Americans use the mattress toppers on top of a traditional mattress sold here with springs. It is a less expensive way to have a foam mattress enitialy. All my linens are white.Sheets and towels all white. I prefer the simplicity of it. If needed they can be sanitized and all laundry is faster to wash. No need to separate colors. I only use one flat sheet for my bed for the mattress topper. I don't like getting tangle up in my covers, so I use 1 quilt and one blanket. No top sheet. Love a freshly mad bed. Makes want to never leave it!!🥰
Concise and appealing, as always! I would just like to point out to those who may not realise it that almost every country has different bedding sizes... crazy but true! Ikea usually sells sets of either 150x200 or 200x240 (at least, in Switzerland they do, and they don‘t do the 200x210 size any more) with one or two pillow cases 50x60, so you have to get all your bedding from them because if you buy Swiss sizes your single set will be 160x210 and pillow 60x100cm, and a double is 200x200 with two pillows 65x65cm (the extralong size is 160x240). In Germany pillows are 80x80cm and a single duvet 135x200 or 155x210 and in France pillows are 60x60 (or a long bolster...) and duvets are 140x200 or 200x200.... the Brits also use inches, which convert to odd measurements like 137cm wide! It‘s all quite a confusing science depending on which country you‘re in!! I‘ve noticed Ikea adjusts some of their sizing, eg in France Ikea pillows are also 60x60, and their sizes in Britain are also adapted... Anyone else noticed this in their country? What sizes are used elsewhere in Scandinavia or eastern Europe?!
I live in Germany but bought a Spanish-size single duvet cover and pillow cover once on Ebay (it was from the Italian company Bassetti, so I guess they also make different sizes for different countries). and I think the pillow cover is 40x100cm and both are completely open at the end, which surprised me. You have to tuck the covers inside so the duvet and pillow don't fall out;-))
I have the smaller version of her Alex (Ikea) desk 😎 I have a good summer duvet, as I get quite warm during the colder months, and add either a throw or blanket on top of that if it’s really cold, and in summer I simply use a flat sheet and thin cotton throw combo. This way I can control the warmth and coolness, as well as mix the look of my bed (all made up).
Here in England I have a superking (6ft x 6ft) bed with drawers for duvet covers underneath. No head or footboard as I hate them. Valance on first in beige as neutral colour and covers drawers. Next memory foam mattress. Mattress protector, fitted sheet, duvet plus cover and four pillows = 2'each topped off with bedspread and 2 pillowshams in same colour as bedroom furniture. I'm addicted to duvet cover sets. Last count 27.🇬🇧🛏️shared with 2 felines and 1 hubby.
Encontra-se este tipo de cama com muita facilidade aqui em Portugal para além do Ikea em qualquer loja de móveis. Para esse tipo de camas é usado o nome em francês"sommier".
This is perfect time! Just last week my husband and I were having blanket wars, and I was sure that Scandinavian bedding would help. I've seen homes where each side of a larger bed has it's only duvet. It might be the answer. I'm also giggling at the image of you hiding under your throw to do your voice-overs. Very funny! I hope that you are well. Stay safe! Stay sane!
My husband and I have a king bed. We each have our own double duvets. I am in menopause so I have a moisturizer wicking duvet from Ikea and he has his own preferred weight duvet. Marital bliss😊
@@shirleyjay6992 try that with English men. They do not get the concept how important sleep is to a person and want to cling to you and take over one's side of the bed and duvet offering no personal space. I lay almost across the bed and lean against pillows. The menopause made it almost impossible to remain in one position all night and restless. When one person moves the other's sleep is interrupted and vice versa. No wonder the population is exhausted! Separate beds and one to share.
Benita Larsson ......and weirdly I love bleaching my whites. I think it’s something from my childhood with my Sicilian grandmother. Her sheets and towels always smelled delicious to me! Isn’t it lovely how “scents” and “music” can be you back into time???
Well after many many many years of making beds in a hospital in a time where the beds had to have the corners exactly right and the sheets put out on two chairs back to back to put the bedding on so it never touches the floor . Once bottom sheet are on along comes top sheet which of course is not tucked in at the bottom ,it is turned over for operations and if tucked in then a pleat is put in at the bottom to allow for feet . Next came the white cotton blanket again with a pleat in the bottom or turned back for then finally the top cover which of course one had to have the same length at both sides of the bed , Pillows were plumped up pillow slips put on two to a bed ,either put flat or putting out the back head rest the pillows would then go into armchair fashion . Then of course you would turn the bed down to put the patient back in very carefully if they had had an operation or were elderly and infirm, cover them ,up say a few comforting words put the locker back in an exact position put the chair away tidy . Draw back the the curtains surrounding the bed or the screens as it was then . Guess what then whats the next step . Go on to the next bed and the next bed and the next bed 34 times in all on the General Nursing side 76 beds on the Psychiatric Division , the Psychiatric Hospitals . I cannot perceive that anyone needs to be shown how to make a bed , but the lady is correct in airing the bedding outside ,we do that in the U.K. and in Europe ,makes a big difference . Regarding the bed making when one was training to become a nurse in 1969 .The Nursing Sister would watch you make it time and time again, and timing you of course and many times I considered it to be very nearly perfect and indeed many times perfect but Sister did not think so ,She would strip the bed put the bedding on the said chairs bottom of bed , Shouting Disgraceful Nurse So and So ,Will everyone look this Nurse cannot make a bed . Naturally one just apologised and made the bed up again ,asking the Staff Nurse , < What was wrong with it > ,she said but if ,or drop what you are doing to run and open or close the door when they arrived or left the ward s. But they were amazingly kind to us strict but fair .They were wonderful days and the pride in passing your exams after a long arduous training . were some of the best days of my life . Sending thanks to our wonderful amazing N.H.S staff during the Covid Virus . The whole of the U.K. are proud of you all and since the shock of the virus we realise that our beloved N.H.S is the best of the best The Pride of the British Nation . I expect like me all you Nurses know how to make a bed ,bless your dear hearts at this hard time I was around in 1970 ,72 when the Hong Kong flue hit us I know many died ,and this Covis Virus will be with us for a long time . I loved the bed making film bought back many wonderful memories
Thank you, Benita for your video. Your bed is a lot simpler that our beds in the USA. Something to think about how to simplify the bed making and cleaning process. Every week I need to wash the fitted sheet, the cover sheet and pillow cases and every month I wash the duvet cover, bed skirt, mattress cover and pillow covers. I need to get back into sleeping in a hammock...much much simpler!!
Hi Benita, we have a duvet, but we also use a flat sheet under that, so I don't have to wash the duvet cover so often (such a hassle getting it on again!). In winter we add a light blanket on top. We recently got linen sheets and they are great. We also use pillow protectors; that's all down to Ikea, I'd never seen them before I saw them in store there years ago!
I never understood the purpose of the flat sheet when you have a duvet. I remember flat sheets when I had a blanket as a child. I also remember getting all tangled up in it 😂 I get it now, thank you!
Great video! Thank you 😍I'm glad to say it's very similar to the way I make my bed. Although I do have different bedding in summer and winter. In Madrid winters are freezing and summers are boiling. So from May to September I use a top and bottom sheet with a trow (usually in July August you don't really need the top sheet or the throw because it's too hot!) and in winter a duvet with its cover. But all similar nevertheless. One thing I was going to mention, I found out a while ago after hearing it somewhere and I spoke to Dyson to confirm. It seems you mustn't use it to hoover up bicarbonate. It's something to do with humidity and it damaging the motor. If it was new and it got damaged for that reason the warranty wouldn't cover it. Most hoovers that don't use hoover bags seem to have the same issue. Thank you again. Take care 😍
I love all of your videos and I can't wait for the next one! Your beautiful home motivates me to continue decluttering and minimizing my possessions. Most recently, I am trying to get my bedroom closet to resemble yours. Thank you so much for sharing your home and organizing ideas with us! You created a perfect haven! I also love your clothing choices, as I dress similarly to you.
As someone else has stated, same as in the UK. Cant believe i am watching you make a bed, and finding it so relaxing and tempting to get into lol, its so fresh.thanks again x
I use 2 king size sheets. I don’t use fitted sheets. It’s easier to fold Flat sheets and fits the bed as it’s one size bigger. One I use as a top sheet. I learned this when I took off my sheets in a hotel and there weren’t fitted but only flat sheets. I live where it’s summer 9-10 months f the year so we wash and air dry on the line. I wash every 2 weeks. I wash my wool after our winter. I have a summer and winter duvet. Now in spring I use a sheet and blanket only. I also have a snuggle pillow and blanket. I also have a European pillow at the bedhead as it’s open style slat bed and in summer i put them under my feet. I think I need a knee pillow for sleeping but sadly I sleep on my stomach lol
I am allergic to dust and dust mites, and i bought anti allergic pillow covers at Ikea, this made me stop coughing at night, and it protects the pillow too. The pillow case goes on last, outside the protective pillow. One can also buy anti allergic sheets to have under the ordinary one, if one needs to.
Love this simplicity of your bed. We a box spring bed and it is fine. We keep 2 sets of linen for our bed, 2 sets for guests and that is more enough. Love duvets, versus top sheets - which I do not care for too much. I like to get up and out of bed in the mornings, however I prefer going to bed and being one with my mattress, sliding into my dream world. 🙃
I'm in the US & I do my bed the same way you do! Sometimes I have to wash things more often because my dogs are 14 yrs. old now & they have accidents! But...they are so worth it to me! I use a little soda in the wash or a little bleach to deodorize. But the layering on the bed (covers, sheets, pillow & mattress protectors, then it all goes on just like you! hugs, Judie
@@BenitaLarsson I will have to read the "other" comments from my fellow US people because my bed looks like yours & that is the same that I do! Hummmmm! A lot of the time I hang the sheets outside to dry for freshness after washing.
For me, higher thread count usually means a stiffer fabric. I too, prefer my bedding to be soft cotton. But I have to admit, that lately I have been using a sheet set made of micro fiber that is very soft, durable and came in the blush pink I wanted for my bedroom. tfs 💗
I found out about thread count actually potentially being stiffer in an H&M Home store. Very surprised to find knowledgeable and service minded staff in an H&M related store 🤓
You made me laugh out loud when you described the plaid situation. My cats sleep with me too, kids are always cold, I've my own two little hot fluffies so no need for extra blankets. At day time there's a quilted blanket on all beds though because of the fluffs hairs. Almost the same bed, mine is smaller. I love to dry the sheets and cover outside when washed, the smell of freshness makes me happy when I step in my bed in the evening. Lovely to read all differences in bedding.
Definitely a beautiful crisp white ...fresh clean bed.....oh and thinking of a lovely warm bath or shower beforehand.....and what wonderful night's sleep..😊👏👍....
Love your video. And seeing the differences. Our beds are so different from yours. We have a box spring and 16" mattress, bed skirt, sheets, blanket and quilt or comforter on top. Decorative pillows on top of that. I would guess the basic difference is the depth of the top mattress.
What do you do with the decorative pillows? It doesn’t sound as if they are meant to be slept on. Do you have a special place to put them for the night?
Here in Malaysia we use the bed sheet that comes in all beautiful n floral a pair of pillow casing and also a bloster cover...pillow casing v always have two as a protector n I wash them all every week...
In Australia, we have bed bases but majority need a mattress on top. They're not designed for just a topper. 😔 I've never seen one designed like a built-in mattress. If you make your bed as a morning routine, it gets easier/quicker. I tell my kids this... and Husband, lol. Yes I still go back to your original blog posts. Most recently was your old patio/gardening, we're heading into Spring.
Looks fluffy and comfy! I live in the southeast US so “cool” is what I strive for. I have a metal IKEA queen size frame with a very thick soft mattress. It’s very tall. My son said, “Mom, you’re not going to be satisfied until you have to take a running leap and jump up into your bed.” (kind of true 😂) I only like cotton sheets and cotton quilts and sleep under just the top sheet in summer.
I was so surprised to see how you didn’t use a fitted sheet! I am American and we usually use fitted sheets; when I lived in Korea, I slept on the floor on a thin cushion. Both have their perks for sure!
No fitted sheet I'm aware of would properly fit that skimpy mattress. My mattress is 12 inches thick. Hers looks like it's about 6 inches. Way too much time spent making that bed.
Debra Johnson well I believe that was her mattress topper; her actual mattress is below, and the legs are attached. I assume she doesn’t normally take that long, as she mentioned she only washes some of the layers every time. Plus, as this is a tutorial, she probably spent a bit more time than normal. I found it very relaxing! ^.^
Yay! I can’t believe I found you. I was thinking of your blog a few weeks ago but couldn’t remember your name (sorry) or your blog’s name (eek). I just remembered the cozy feeling it gave me and here you are. Glad to see you are creating and sharing 💕
I don’t have a schedule. It all depends on if it’s been really hot or if my cats have been bringing in a lot if dirt. Sometimes every week, sometimes ten days, sometimes a couple of weeks.
2 Pillows? I have at least 6-8 on a king sized bed. The most important 2 are down, as is my goose down comforter by ikea. They have several weights depending on where you live. We are in FL so everything is light. When i lived in upstate NY years ago I had a double ikea goose down comforter- it was 2 that snapped together at the corners- i think a 2 and a 3 - and i would snap apart in summer. I believe they come in 1-6, with 6 being the heaviest.
Well, I love the simplicity of your bed. Mine, of course, has the box spring and mattress which is much thicker than yours. I wonder if the comfort level is comparable. I like being able to take the mattress off to air out. I notice your sheet is not fitted. I prefer the fitted because they do not move around. My bed is queen size and I have 4 pillows because I spend a lot of time reading or watching things in my bed. Do like your bed a lot.
Hi' from 🇩🇰 Love how even we neighbors do that differently! I didn't even know there was pillow covers! And the bicarbonate I will have to look into. As always so lovely and minimalistic.
I have no idea why I watched this, but it was very lovely! 💜
AI wanted you to watch it!
Right?!
Me too
Same here. And now I'm wondering why I've ever put up with a mattress I can't even budge by myself!
stacie sheppard I mean.. she has a mattress but it’s integrated into the frame, so it’s probably even heavier than your mattress.
Thanks so much for this! I’ll keep an eye out for Egyptian cotton now!
Fitted jersey sheets are the softest option.
My go -to brand is Charisma Brand Pima Sateen- they come out of the box so soft. Wash them and they get softer.
@@Tweeza57 you have to consider that a hospital needs different things from bedding then a household

HOW TO MAKE A SWEDISH BED

Air out your bedding outside regularly, use cotton bedding, a lower thread count means softer fabric, make sure to feel the sheets in store before buying your bedding.
Of course cat came. They never miss the changing covers session
Yep, that is how I do it, too! That is how I was taught to make the bed growing up in Norway 🇳🇴 Sov godt! 😴
Elsker Norge!
I've been binge watching your channel this past week and can't get enough. So satisfying and relaxing to watch. I even started watching the restoration channel you recommended before i go to sleep! Thankyou for making such beautiful content :)
Thank you so much for watching it!
So easy to listen to and watch your very elegant and comprehensive videos. Simple, elegant and lovely. Thank you so much for sharing your time and home.
Aww, thank you so much!
I can imagine skipping five sheets will make a huge difference when doing laundry!
Flip the mattress over and turn it for staying an even surface every time you change the the bedding.
Thanks Benita, it is practically the same how I make my Dutch bed, but living in the USA for 42 years.
Yay, comforting to hear we’re not all alone in our ways over here!
You are not! We do practically the same in Germany. 😃
so relaxing to watch, thank you.
I’m so happy you enjoyed it!
Agree very relaxing
Hereby requesting... no, DEMANDING video of the voiceover setup with the throw over your head!
Hahahaha! 👻=me under the throw
Hahaha.. It'd be interesting to watch thou
Benita Larsson This must have been so hot!?🤔
Tina Mar it can get a bit sweaty 😂
@@BenitaLarsson yeah that sounds crazy lol
I love how minimal your bed looks, I have a double bed and switched my duvet to a twin size so it lays perfectly on top without much fabric overhang. It looks so clean 👍
Crazy that this video is so peaceful to watch.
Thank you so much!
Fascinating! All this time, I thought the foundation was a box spring, and the mattress topper was the actual mattress, and I wondered how comfortable that could be. Thanks for sharing! ❤️
Thank you so much for watching!
I thought this was a ikea ad for a second before I realized what was going on, very nice video, very cool
Nothing feels as cozy as a freshly washed and dried outdoors duvet covers and sheets. Makes me look forward to bedtime. I love your channel. 👍👍
I’m so glad you enjoy my videos!
In Australia slat beds are quite popular but you can still get a mattress and base set up. The difference is, the base looks like a mattress on legs but you can't sleep on it as it has almost no padding and the mattress is about the same size as the base. You can also add a mattress topper if you want.
that bed looks so comfortable.....
My goal is to replicate that style in my bedroom here in the UK, if I can get my wife onboard with that 🙂
PS: It was a shock getting back in my own bed.
Yes! I can’t find those here in Canada but they’re so helpful (Finnish Canadian 👋🏼)
That is exactly how I make up my beds here in the UK including the bed skirt/valance.
So we’re not completely alone in this here in Sweden!🙌🏻
I also do the rug with the bicarbonate!🙌🏻
I agree with her about the xl size of a comforter bieng cumbersome for sleeping comfortably.
I like “doona”! I think I’ll start using it!
@@BenitaLarsson it's so cosy sounding, isn't it 😊
Really surprised how calming that was. One thing I do differently......having three bed sizes and five bedrooms to manage, I color code the sheets and covers for each room. This saves a great deal of aggravation on laundry days. And everyone gets a favorite color.
Such a smart move!🙌🏻
Makes want to never leave it!!🥰
Oh yeah, a freshly made bed is a thing of beauty!
Ah, yes, very good point!⭐️
We run the pillows through a high temperature drying cycle every week to freshen them up.
I do that too occasionally! Freshens them up!
I put my pillow out in the sun for a few hours every couple of weeks 😊
Here in England I have a superking (6ft x 6ft) bed with drawers for duvet covers underneath. No head or footboard as I hate them. Valance on first in beige as neutral colour and covers drawers. Next memory foam mattress. Mattress protector, fitted sheet, duvet plus cover and four pillows = 2'each topped off with bedspread and 2 pillowshams in same colour as bedroom furniture. I'm addicted to duvet cover sets. Last count 27.🇬🇧🛏️shared with 2 felines and 1 hubby.
I watched this while folding laundry. So nice!
Ah, making the bed is one of my favorite things to do each day! Love this!
I’m also an avid bed maker in the mornings 🙌🏻
Here in Canada we call them box spring it needs a mattress on top and a frame to put the box spring on Thanks from 🇨🇦
Thanks so much! I’m starting to think I should make a round up of bed making from around the world. So many different names and ways!
Yes, bed frame, box spring, mattress, fitted sheet, pillows & cases, top sheet and duvet!
Hi Benita, here in Portugal it's not very common to find this type of bed. However,I do think that IKEA must have this option.
Lovely bed setting 😍
Ikea might, but then they also adapt their beds to the standards of the country so they might not .
My friend has the same problem. She makes the king bed up so she and hubby each get their own twin sheet and blanket.
Yes to getting a twin set each!
White bedding is so dreamy. My absolute favorite!
I agree! And you immediately notice when it needs to go in the wash!
Next came the white cotton blanket again with a pleat in the bottom or turned back for then finally the top cover which of course one had to have the same length at both sides of the bed ,
Pillows were plumped up pillow slips put on two to a bed ,either put flat or putting out the back head rest the pillows would then go into armchair fashion .

Benita I like that you don’t add extra cushions on the bed. I don’t use cushions either but always wondered why some are cushion obsessed.
Haha, yes the hammock sounds like the way to go 😉
So nice and fresh, well done. Thank you for sharing and explaining your technique.
Thank you so much for watching!🛏
Hi Benita, we have a duvet, but we also use a flat sheet under that, so I don't have to wash the duvet cover so often (such a hassle getting it on again!). In winter we add a light blanket on top. We recently got linen sheets and they are great. We also use pillow protectors; that's all down to Ikea, I'd never seen them before I saw them in store there years ago!
I never understood the purpose of the flat sheet when you have a duvet. I remember flat sheets when I had a blanket as a child. I also remember getting all tangled up in it 😂 I get it now, thank you!
I LOVE YOUR BED!! Your mattress all of it!! And your right in the United States we can’t find this style or I would have your exact set up!! 💗
Take care 😍
Thank you for the heads up on that! I did notice it clogging up so I gave it a good clean and airing up after!
@@BenitaLarsson you're welcome.
You also can sprinkle lavender rub it in and vacuum :)
I’m so happy to hear you enjoy my videos!
I love the bed construction. It's what my back needs
As someone else has stated, same as in the UK. Cant believe i am watching you make a bed, and finding it so relaxing and tempting to get into lol, its so fresh.thanks again x
Haha, imagine everyone who said the same thing piling into my bed 😂
Love the Swedish Bed! Thank you for sharing your steps!
I love your all white bedroom. I now look at my bedroom of all different colors and I need a change.
Thank you, have a good rest of the week.
Thank you so much!
Nothing like clean white bedding.
Im from Denmark and I do my bed exactly the same way, exept for the pillowprotector, I didnt know it existed 🙈😉
I love getting up in the morning but then I also LOVE going to bed at night 😂
Very informative. Simple & clean bed.
I'm in the US & I do my bed the same way you do! Sometimes I have to wash things more often because my dogs are 14 yrs. old now & they have accidents! But...they are so worth it to me! I use a little soda in the wash or a little bleach to deodorize. But the layering on the bed (covers, sheets, pillow & mattress protectors, then it all goes on just like you! hugs, Judie
Unusual for an American then from what I understand from other comments!
Airing things outside makes for the best ever scent, doesn’t it?
Hi Benita, It is the first time to like dressing a bed. good work
Definitely a beautiful crisp white ...fresh clean bed.....oh and thinking of a lovely warm bath or shower beforehand.....and what wonderful night's sleep..😊👏👍....
It’s so interesting to hear all versions of making a bed!
That's the same as my bedding, all cotton and white with only a bottom sheet and a non draping duvet to weight me down or get dragged off. 🙂
I wish I had a Swedish bed and linens.
The video shot from 8:36 was very good and also felt like professional 👍🏻👍🏻😍😍
Thank you so much!
So crisp and fresh looking :) I absolutely love the white linens! Question though: if your topper isn't washable, why would the cover have a zipper?
That’s what I asked Ikea too!! You can’t remove it, there are stitches all across but they said it’s for manufacturing reasons. So confusing though.
@Deb Ditto.
I’m happy that you can still find use of the old blog!
It IS fluffy and comfy! I’m now picturing you pole jumping into that tall bed of yours 😂
🤣
After watching your video, I am going to get white sheets! More clean, simple and minimalist. Thank you for the video!!
Thank you so much for watching!
Yay! I can’t believe I found you. I was thinking of your blog a few weeks ago but couldn’t remember your name (sorry) or your blog’s name (eek). I just remembered the cozy feeling it gave me and here you are. Glad to see you are creating and sharing 💕
Maybe I missed 😂 ... how often do you wash/change the flat sheet+duvet cover+pillow case?
Thanks for the video. Relaxing and clean.
I don’t have a schedule. It all depends on if it’s been really hot or if my cats have been bringing in a lot if dirt. Sometimes every week, sometimes ten days, sometimes a couple of weeks.
I found this strangely relaxing.
What a thoughtful photage. Love watching this video for the way it was filmed and edited. Thank you!🌺

I have a Swedish Hastens bed and I love 💗 it 🇸🇪🇺🇸
Well, I love the simplicity of your bed.
So interesting that there are so many regional ways to make a bed!
I love your simplicity of bed making! Thank you!
Hi' from 🇩🇰 Love how even we neighbors do that differently! I didn't even know there was pillow covers! And the bicarbonate I will have to look into. As always so lovely and minimalistic.
👋🏻👋🏻🇩🇰! Isn’t it so interesting that we all make a bed differently?!
You can get the pillow covers in IKEA 👍
It’s so peaceful! 👍🏻🤗🙏🏻
LOVE LOVE LOVE my English style bed, ENGLISH as from England.
So minimalist!!!!! Perfect!!!
