"I hate running"- Austen , sums up almost everybodys feelings about running
That's me too! I am one of the worst runners, which explains why I would be a paramedic instead of a soldier, firefighter, or police officer! I can lift more weight than I can run! Also paramedics don't run at all in their jobs!
as a soccer player, i can confirm this
oh my god...I hate exercise but I love swimming...good sir Austin do your best
Lol except for us who crazy enough who love running
I love running
I don't think people realize how crazy it is that Austin is this big and is able to move and swim these times
yea hes also insanely strong compared to his weight
so hes fast
It is rather hard! I may start cutting down again soon
51 push-ups is not that strong
@@ripeshot11 bro… push ups are way more endurance than strength
I was literally just now hoping something good pops up on my feed. I wasn’t disappointed 😂
lol I GOT U FAM
I'm not an American. But I think this guy is putting himself out and showing his best. It is inspirational. Good job. Thanks, Austen.
Take drug, write a book..your through..
Best creator right now.
thank you!! That means a lot
I’ve been training for this for 6 years. Have that 9:30 swim, 100 pushups & situps, 20 pullups, and a 10:15 run. I actually used to be 250+ lbs. changed my life fully. Going to give me dreams a real shot in 2024.
Nice work ! , I have my test in 2 weeks , 8:45 swim , 63 pushups , 75 sit ups , 12 pull ups , and 10:19 run is my best
How did it go guys?
@@Briaeliely went ok , I passed , the run was awful. No track just a random jagged sidewalk that had lots of elevation lol run time was 10:28
@@markw3956bro do not go to buds mayter of fact do not ship you’ll get destroyed
@markw3956 what is your contract/rate you are going for
Let me start off by saying i always loved our military, always had a deep respect. But in the time that ive followed u,that respect tripled because now i know what it takes.Yall do this to serve our country and a pension.I never knew tests were this hardcore.Yall do this just so you can keep us safe on homebase.SALUTE
Yay go Sarah!!!!! She’s awesome with curl ups! Great job Austen!
I would love to see Austen participate in the Selection. That show was so good. I know he'd crush it
Thank you Austen for putting these videos out. It really inspires us to stay fit. ❤️
I follow you from Rota, ( Spain). You're my example of overcoming, I love workout, and you manage to increase motivation levels, thank you.. 😄
You're still strong Austen 💪 stay strong 🇺🇸
You and Sara are the best! "Put a ring on it," already! The sit up bit was great!
This channel is so inspirational
AMAZING QUALITY W THIS😍 & navy seal stuff is so interesting!! good job!!
Hell yea Austen u crushed it 🤙🏽
You’re doing great with your content Austen!! Keep it up😎👍
Austen challenging Sara to curl ups! The competition is on!
Thank you man. I'm learning a lot from you and your videos. Thank you
They completely ignored the timed rest periods( 10 min after swim, 2 min after push ups, 2 min after curl ups, unlimited time on pull ups then ten min before the run)
The 18 other people that liked this comment knows what’s up. Anyone know the legend Mr. Fuller?
Awesome! keep up the great vids!
This was fun to watch!
It was the handlebar mustache that slowed you down in the water. :)
thats what I was thinking
Worth it tho
That's quite impressive, good job!
GO SARA! 👏🏿 You killed those sit-ups. It seem so many men work so hard to have muscles yet they forget their core. Austen I don't know why you always doubt yourself when it come to running because you always do good. Good job Austen.
You mean sit-ups
She wasnt touching her kneea with her elbow's ?
To be fair she didn’t do the swim or the push ups before that
Also, more of her weight is on her hips, not her shoulders. This is healthy.
Still, that's a good many reps!
Thanks guys! Love watching your vids. You inspire not only physically but mentally as well. See you next time!
I've been waiting a long time for this!
Really insightful videos.
Sara is cray in a good way! always brings levity... recently started watching your vids. I really enjoy the "competitive" motivation. I like that you compete against yourself and also bring in others. True competition!
Austen you should try the firefighter pt test, it’s really unique and I think it will be a good challenge and make an awesome video for you
Yay Sarah! Beating Austen in sit ups 😊
Goo Sara! Love when she is on the videos
Good Job!! Retired Navy Diver here and I remember doing that test in bootcamp at 18 yrs old :) ... wearing Dungarees and Boondockers lol.
Hi sir, new to the ch. I remember that burn when I first started training! Some tips, saw your running, control your breathing, example MetallicA’s Enter the sandman drum bass breath to that beat and a bit slower for control, two, as you run keep your hands straight out like knifes cutting the air helps with circulation and rhythm. Three, for that heavy leg hold your knee to your chest will take time then no support by hands, then keep leg out straight using different muscles and build strength. As you run also toe raise run to get a feel for being light, you’ll feel like a spring but you’ll get the rhythm down and run lighter. Numbers are always low starting off, but as the weeks go by, see times drop and numbers go up feels great! Max out day suck but when you see your numbers you feel great!!!
Man... I watched your vids where an Olympic Runner and Olympic Swimmer beasted the test, and then watching you do it is inspiring.
awesome work brotha man!
Good luck with your journey sweetie 😘
you always up to something crazy!!!
this next month is gonna be even crazier! I'm going through the Pennsylvania Sheriff Deputy academy later this month 🥵
@@AustenAlexander ayyy let’s go dude! Can’t wait to be living your life!!! Lol. One can only dream. Just keep having fun and sharing dude. Love watching the journeys
Ryan, nice to see you gettin after it ol swim buddy!
Okay are we not gonna talk about HER sit ups?? I want to see Sarah do the challenge!!
Cant wait to see it
gotta work on that stroke form Austen! I think reading up or watching form videos will really help you excel at these specwar screening tests
Having completed Boot Camp, Aircrew School with water survival and the Helo dunker, along with SERE, it’s cool to watch these test
Loved the video 📹
This is so cool!!
Great video man!!
Combat side stroke is not easy. Excellent job!
In the 90's the black boots were called boondockers. Good job!
Sarah did great with the sit ups, but in fairness to Austen he has more weight/muscle making him having to pull more up and he just got done with the swim and push ups. All though I’m glad to see Sarah become more comfortable on camera and it’s fun to see her push and challenge Austen to do his best😊👍
agreed. he also had to swim and push before, because the rest position of the pushups is leaning rest, it still smokes your abs
and sarah didnt come close to going all the way down shoulders on the mat on her version of situps
Sarah is a BOSS! I laughed out loud when she said, "That I killed it" cuz she did
I past my pst a week ago and now I’m just waiting go to Bootcamp 🙌🏾🙌🏾
On the sidestroke: you can do a flip turn off the wall, and glide underwater half way each length. You can easily take off 2 minutes.
Hey Austen, I just want to thank you real quick, for most of my life I have been overweight and very unhappy with my body, in fact quite insecure about it, people used to make jokes about it, then one day I found your RUclips channel, I watched all your military fitness tests and challenges and got inspired to do them myself, I have been doing them for a while and I am seeing huge results already, my biceps a lot bigger and harder, same with my legs and core, I really am happy with my body now and promise to keep it in good condition for as long as I live, I really want to thank you for posting these videos and challenges helping inspire us and giving me a challenge to have my best go at and help other people get their bodies nice and healthy, keep doing what you are doing and don’t listen to anyone who tells you different, rock on mate!
P.s: Sorry if this got a little deep 😆
Good for you buddy, keep up the hard work, it pays off.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Take care of your body God bless you.
Badass! Keep grinding, glad you are in a much better place.
Way to crush it Austen! Sit-ups are rough for us taller folk! lol Impressive that you got all 50 in the first minute basically. Same with the push-ups -- got nearly all 50 in the first minute! Dang man! Well done.
@justalittlebitmo think my best for all of these, despite me being a distance runner in HS, was 62 push-ups in 2 minutes, 64 sit-ups in 2 minutes, 8:36 in 1.5 mi. Run.
I was thinking that Austen would get at least 70 push ups than I remembered he swam 500 yards before hand😅
Not really an excuse, the swim is a warm up to make you better at push ups
@@batcountryboy93 well I mean after swimming for 10 minutes straight, my arms and legs would be worn out/ strained. I’m pretty sure almost everyone would do better on the push ups and sit ups if they didn’t swim prior but that’s why the seals are the elite.
@@thedecentgamer4358 nope progressive fatigue is a thing. I it's what I had to do and I still got 80 and I went in fat. And it's 10 minutes of rest, your body recovers from maximum effort events in that time, it's certainly plenty of time to rest.
@@batcountryboy93 I agree, I think it takes around 3 minutes for your heart rate to return normal after exercise so yes 10 minutes is plenty of time to rest muscles but if you run 5 miles prior and take a 10 minute rest, your legs will still be tired
@@thedecentgamer4358 I mean I've done it lol I also had to take the human performance test for my selection and that was a 800m swim, 3 mile run right after, deadlift, bench, long jump, pull up, agility run, shuttle run. So I've done this stuff lol, and with a 24% body fat build too
I'm a former Seal and watching this was very nostalgic. I hit a homerun on most things but the pullups. I was a tall, skinny kid lacking upper body strength and while I obviously hit the pullups, I did so barely. However, I did so well in the other areas I was looked at favorably overall.
For those thinking of going to BUDS, the absolute best suggestion I can suggest is working on endurance. Of course, you'll want to practice these particular exercises but even if you can't (as in maybe you have no pool access like I did at that time), practice intermittent sprints and other things to build your heart up. TRUST ME! This will help you in the long run. The test is nothing compared to actually showing up at BUDS and keeping up. If you are a weightlifter, stop! The extra muscle will only make your life worse. If you must lift, lots of high rep stuff. Get slim and trim. Look at the difference in the body types between Ryan and Austen. That says it all.
Major kudos to Austen. This is no easy test even for those training for this. The dude is big and he pulled it. Big props for putting it on the line for the world to watch Austen.
For those of you wanting to go this path... Hooyah!
Going this route and coming up on this soon- used to be the kid who couldn’t do a pushup. Now my numbers blow these out of the water- my secret? Any SEALs. Never quit
Just dord from buds your 100% right
Have you ever served with a SEAL who had a felony in his past ?
@@gustavoarteaga4027 Hmmm... not sure but probably. I'm guessing... and I'm old school so a lot has changed but... it depends what the class of felony and how long ago. A recruiter would know this.
@@Berean490 okay mine was back in 2019 but when I try to pursue it it would be four years since im going to try after i receive my associates degree may even go for a bachelors then try to become one
I’m actually very impressed you passed the run
You are the best one .i like your content
Your friend from morocco
thank you and Hi Friend
Everything is interesting and I hope I have a chance to involve on any training before join those interesting test...🙏 to happen
You have pass with a minimum requirement but not a competitive requirement, but still lookin good. A few more training days you can do it. Nice video!
Inspiring
Austen, time to start up push-ups / sit-ups after every bathroom break? :) (I say as you literally crush my time on the run)
Situps was my best event in the Army. I use to knock out about 76 in two minutes.
Goated RUclipsr 🐐
Heading to 50 now, smoked since about 15. Following SAS personal trainer by John Lofty Wiseman for almost 20 yrs now & can do these tests except for the swim- just getting back in to it now after not much since I was a kid. Your crunches and pull ups are broken :P Bit too much work on those biceps has got you out of balance? Great vid!
When doing sit-ups, you're wasting energy when your going back down. You ain't gonna break the ground so just slam your back on the pad and bounce back up.
Sou brasileira adoro seus vidios meu sonho era conheçer voce parabens pelo que voce faz 💞💞
Been watching you do these tests for a while! Should totally do the air force special warfare PAST. Little harder in my opinion! I’d do it with you side by side !😂
Awesome
To be competitive in Navy SO you should be shooting for 6-8min swim and run, 100 push-ups/sit-ups, 20 pull-ups.
Doing these alone is always easier but when you have other people assessing you it does for many people have a wearing down effect.
Just a quick content suggestion for future videos. Trying out every military training of different countries and establish comparisons between trainings you're used to.
Great job on the test, the sad thing is that because of the manning for Specwar in the Navy your scores don’t even need to be competitive to get a contract anymore, people barely passing the minimum for seal or swcc, ect will get contracts. Which is doing a disservice to that applicant and the community they are trying out for. Cause now they get their contract not as prepared as they could be and the community isn’t getting quality candidates
I took asvab today and got approved for SWCC and Diver. I’m going to aim for it after bootcamp , stuck between LSS and GM.
If you want SWCC or any NSW job don't wait dude. Get the contract now.
It would be nice if you told the viewers this isn't only for seals, this test is for swcc, EOD, Diver, AIRR, and SARC I believe.
It is but he did mention SWCC in the video I think
@@tylerbaer1829 I might or missed it my bad. But the term seals get thrown around so much. Seals are media boys so it makes sense
@@1ice3690 It’s harder to become a SEAl than the rest of those, their pipeline is longer and tougher, that’s why people prefer say to SEAL for clickbait because people would rather watch SEAL videos than SWCC or EOD or whatever else even though those are badass themselves and tough to get into as well.
I actually just did a SEAL PST on Thursday did pretty good.
nice what were your scores?
Swim-9:25
Push-ups 73
Sit-ups-53 (need to get that up) but still competitive
Pull-ups 15
Run- 9:46
You have to pass two PSTs to get put into the draft and the mentors are more than willing to work with anyone that shows they want a contract even if you do poorly on a PST.
You should come to my Spec war program we use a 50 meter long pool and when we pst no googles.
Our old platoon commander was a MCIWS. He made our platoon swim damn near everyday and we all had a goal of 500M in under 11 minutes. Way easier said than done, and I am a very good swimmer.
I did the PJ PASS test and swam 8:51. Find it weird because I hate swimming.
Looks like austen is going to buds!
I enjoyed this video...
Thanks brother...
Motivation for my 3 mile run now 😪🤦
ooo yikes...Lets go!!!!
@@AustenAlexander keep up the videos bro...
I'm from Trinidad & Tobago 🇹🇹... You definitely have a following here 👊
12:30 seconds is the minimum swim time and 8 minutes is considered a competitive time for seal physical fitness test so 10 minutes is definitely a solid time
Curl ups are a hip flexor movement.
Gotta go for the full 2 minutes.
I did this pre qual SEAL test back in 89 and it was a ball breaker of a test. I passed but almost lost it on the pull-ups.
i am not mad i am impressed
Wow!
ever thought about giving the firefighter PAT a go?
All this sort of confirms that the best body for the seal selection is lean since you have better strength to weight ratio. Less drag on swim, easier push ups and pull ups and sit-ups.
I remember those pst days 🤤
57 push ups/8:15 500 swim/16pull ups/ 100 curl ups/9:39 1.5 mile run. I’m a amateur boxer
What shorts do you wear? I need a good pair for the gym. Great video btw!
What brand are your black slippers look nicer than flip flops. Great video thanks.😂
Well reg AF I would do 50-70(changed every year) in a minute. The run always made me nervous!!
Routinely swam (need to get back into it) a mile for years so would be fine here (could do most of the laps underwater with one breath). It's FAR more difficult than you think. Also, try hauling up 25 pounds (dead weight, no buoyancy) from the bottom of a lake (20 or so feet down).
That said, I've seen a number of other Seal tests that I would fail miserably at so not trying to seem like some badass.
he had way, way too much break between the exercises.doing one right after another is part of the difficulty. also, he was looking at his watch while running, i don't think that is allowed during the real test. he did well but the break times and being able to see your watch while running makes a huge difference.
Most push ups I got without touching was about 40. Nice job, I can pass the sit ups, but not the pull ups.
pullups take the most time to increase. I just take my maximum and divide it by two, then do 5-6 sets of half max every day 3-4 times per week. Then max again at the end of the week
All these videos I've watched by Austen, I could've sworn I've subbed from the first video I saw on his channel but it said it wasn't so I'm over here upset and confused now lol.
😞😞 you unsubbed
@@AustenAlexander i swear I didn't 😭
My buddy just did and passed his screening the 100 push-ups isn’t true 80 is the A tier and the instructor made him stop when he hit 80 though his pull-ups they made him do full upper body pull-ups which he hit 14 out of 15. Not sure if it is different at different places or if they changed some stuff or the past year
Royal marines CPC is harder is terms of form.
She crushed the sit-ups! 😂
A mile in a half in under 10:30 is cooking. Thats impressive actually
