Oh boy! Do I get to talk about Tyhone #2?!
Okay, so Tyhone #2 is a vanilla lvl 6 Fire Dragon-type with awful stats. However...
This is super useful in Hazy Flames, a Rank 6 Toolbox deck. Because it's a normal monster, it can be summoned out from deck using Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit, which is also a free Special Summonable lvl 6, so you're running him anyway. On the off chance you draw it, you can send it away with Celestial Observatory, a draw card that needs you to pitch a lvl 6. Didn't draw Celeestial Obseravtory? No problem. Hazy Flame Peryton, the playmaker of the deck, needs you to tribute a Fire in hand to summon two Hazy's from deck. Would you look at that, Tyhone checks that box off as well. It can also be brought back from the GY with Hazy Flame Sphynx if you don't have any other applicable lvl 6's to access the Extra Deck.
Super niche, but super useful. Love the little guy.

Oh, god, I have to talk about my two Skill Drain Beat boys, Beast King Barbaros and Coach Captain Bearman. I recall the latter being used in past builds of Fire Kings (the one that came out with the original Onslaught of the Fire Kings structure) because it was a level 8 Fire Beast-Warrior that can be summoned without tribute, with an effect that could modify the levels of level 4 Beast-Warrior monsters you controlled; it and Coach Soldier Wolfbark allowed for a competent rank 8 engine in that build, from what I understand. The former is similar, but I recall it being used in the new Horus engine to - once again - facilitate rank 8 plays, as it was also a level 8 monster that can be summoned without tribute.
One that I personally enjoyed was Photon Sabre Tiger as a Small World bridge in Wanghu Adventurer stun: it was level 3, so could search out any of the Ghost Girl hand traps and Water Enchantress, it's Beast so it can search out Wanghu, it's naturally 2000 ATK, so it can search out Illegal Knight and Wandering Gryphon Rider, AND it's Light, so it can search out stuff like Nibiru. I felt so smart when I found that out.

@@pickyphysicsstudent201This is why I think Rescue Rabbit has an unfair rap. It’s a cool card with interesting deck building restrictions that made a bunch of fringe shit like this theoretically viable. The problem was that they printed a walking Solemn Judgment with material requirements that were too generic at a time when practically free negates on bodies weren’t common. I blame the frustration of Dino Rabbit on Laggia and, to a lesser extent, Dolkka, not Rabbit itself. Every other deck I’ve seen using Rabbit was doing cool stuff like this or tagging two Andals into an Essedarii, or using two Anu Piranha to drop Faultroll. Meanwhile, the most creative thing to do with Laggia was run Hydrogeddon in Heroes.

Some cards I think are neat for interesting reasons, with varying amounts of "good": Doomdog octhros is a level 3 fiend (summonable off tour guide and can be used to make cherubini) that searches a level 8 fiend (lady labrynth of the silver castle), while cherubini can indirectly search a normal trap that can be activated in the same turn. Back in TOSS, darkest diabolos, lord of the lair is a monster summonable in sky striker that opposing sky striker have next to no outs for. Harvest angel of doom is a generic scale 8 with a positive effect, making it one of the best searches off beyond the pendulum if you used darkwurm and are not playing a pendulum deck, but want to pendulum summon (solfachord dremia is another option due to coolia existing, but that only has scale 7). Besides level 2, level 6 (beatrice). Time thief winder is a monster that detaches a material from an xyz and summons itself, meaning it can be played in live twin in order to use 2 ki-sikil frost (which are level 2 aqua's) to summon toad, then use winder to detach one of the frosts so you have a ki-sikil in grave, and a second monster to use as material for evil twin li-la, unfortunately there is no time thief card worth searching. Exchange used to be one of the only ways to remove opponent's handtraps. Jigabyte is a level 4 water reptile that can special summon itself if you control a spellcaster, meaning it's about to see play in vaalmonica as it's searchable off king of the feral imps, and seletrice vaalmonica is a level 4 water spellcaster, meaning the 2 can be used to make bahamut shark (and the bahamut plus king of the feral imps makes UDF). Doombearer psychopompus is one of the few cards that makes the opponent move a card from their graveyard for exorsister, and it's "searchable" off crossout designator. Rescue ace turbulence and machina metalcruncher are debatably the best monsters to summon off world legacy monstrosity. Hallohallo is a level 3 dark fiend tuner normal pendulum monster, making it the best thing to summon off rescue hamster alongside sangan.

I remember a while back, when Brotherhood of the Fire Fist was collecting steam in the TCG, they were a bit lean on monsters, so Coach Soldier Wolfbark was a three-of in Fire Fist decks. Coach Captain Bearman was not an uncommon find to go into Coach King Gaintrainer of all cards. I've never seen these 3 cards played again after Fire Fist got an actual full deck's worth of support cards to use.
It didn't even really "break" these cards, but Bro Fist was the new hotness at the time and what they had was "good enough" to justify playing these other cards for a while, so people just did it while they waited for the actual cards to come in during the next few sets. Also helped that they could be searched by Tenki.

About Spright: Chemicritter was cool to play with Magikey, now it's even cooler now that the Level 2s are bridge for the little spark sons. 👀
And speaking of Magikey, I would say that any deck that could use Benten for anything could merge them with Libromancer, all you needed is either Fire, Geek Boy or an access to the Field Spell + Benten or Preparation of Rites, and now you have Doombroker with a Omni-Negate Set and the Light Fairy of your choice, as well as 1 ~ 3 Libromancers (if you're playing Agent) to do anything else. Link climb, Synchro with them, Fire could give you Linguriboh, the world is your oyster at this point. And with Magikey, I usually search Manju with Benten, spend my Normal Summon on Manju to add High Ritual Art, XYZ Manju + Fire into Vepartu, activate its effect to add Clavkiys and now I have Full Magikey Combo as well, being able to either summon Dawn Dragster with Batosbuster + Geek Boy, or Baronne with Agent (which is not required but an option if you want to recycle the Omni).

Here's a pretty funny one. Back in 2014 Tyhone #2 actually started seeing play in probably one of the most poorly aged archetypes of that era.. Hazy Flames.. gobble or get rekt.
It was the only Normal level 6 Fire Dragon type monster in the game and Hazy Flame Basiltrice requires level 6 fire attribute monsters for it's xyz summon (and lots of them to be a threat). Tyhone #2's existence was the soul reason people started running a small Hieratic engine of 3 Seal of Convocation and 3 Dragons of Tefnuit in Hazy's of all places. If you opened up Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit and Hazy Flame Peryton going second you could actually summon a 5 materials Basiltrice as of the printing of Hazy Hydra in Primal Origins. 5 Material Basiltrice was 3.5k, immune to targeting, and immune to effect destruction. He was one of the first remotely viable Apoqliphort Towers-ish monsters and Towers himself hadn't even been printed to coin the term until 6 months after Hydra. That was very hard to get over in 2014 yugioh and was basically considered a win condition if you weren't running D - prison. We take Kaijus for granted now.
2014 jank 2ish technically 3 card 5 Material Basiltrice Combo
Special summon Tefnuit cyber dragon style -> Tribute summon Peryton -> Tefnuit summons Tyhone #2 -> Use Peryton's effect to tribute itself and discard a Hazy Flame Monster from hand to summon 2 Hazy Flame Hydras -> Overlay Tyhone #2 with the 2 Hydra's to make a 3 material Basiltrice -> Both Hydra's effects activate to attach Peryton and the Hazy you discarded from the grave onto Basiltrice as material.
Additional fun fact the only time Basiltrice became relevant after was when Igknights where printed mid pendulum era. They where basically a toolbox of pendulum fire warriors from levels 3-6 and they could pump out a 5 material Basiltrice turn 1 consistently without any Hazy Flames. Too bad their ability to make 5 material Rhongomyniad turn 1 outclassed it.

@@Lobster44 They where actually pretty decent in their prime but even back then they bricked tremendously and the decks intended strategy forces you to go minus 1 just to summon the things. So naturally even with archetype wide target protection they have just aged like milk. Haven't gotten a single piece of support since hydra's printing as far as I know so it's been a decade. It's a shame because Basiltrice was sort of a meme amongst the community thanks to an old channel called yugimation. He used to make animated yugioh content but he moved onto other stuff. I can't really blame him.

Love how yugioh has come to a point in which a +3/4 card, in order to be considered *playably decent* , has now to have practically no garnets and assure you plays through hts and follow-up. Like we were all playing shit like carbonnedon or alexandrite dragon with summon dai to make ib and if someone stopped it we were just gonna pass, and now we have things like the snake-eye engine which practically doesn't need any "brick" and just goes +6/7 on its own while basically playing around or through anything and guarantees you at least 2 cards on your opponent's turn. I honestly fail to see (at least now) how much more broken yugioh could eventually become from this position in this sense
