- A 54-year-old male patient with flat feet visited the foot clinic due to knee pain. The ankle joint was twisted medially by 12 degrees, resulting in collapsed arches and severe wide angle of gait. The inwardly twisted ankle caused the shin to rotate inward while walking, causing pain in the medial meniscus cartilage of the left knee. Foot orthotics were prescribed to correct the foot joint and ankle to neutral, and to prevent the knee from turning inward when walking. The pain could be improved. In addition, considering the seemingly mild hallux valgus, we adopted the design of a hallux valgus insole that reduces pressure on the joint under the big toe.
