That’s the issue actually. Getting it right all the time is quite hard. On the other hand, big clubs can have numerous duds and still be able to sign loads of “replacements” without being too bothered.
They bet on ecuadorians paraguay Asians which are NOT from where the popular players who cost over 10 times come from. If mitoma caicedo and estupiñan were brazilian uruguyan and colombian they'd cost a combined 1 billion.
Mad to think 14 years ago I watched my club in person for the first time drawing 1-1 away to Yeovil in league one, to now see them competing for a top 6 finish in the biggest league in the world. What a rise it has been, so proud of my club and what they have achieved under Tony Bloom's ownership
As a City fan, when they came to the Etihad this season, and had more possession than us away from home, I was really impressed, although they lost the game, they played extremely well and were unlucky not to get more out of that game with their passing buildup play and creation of dangerous chances. I could tell De Zerbi was building something great with this team from that day, and it's showing now.
Always been an arsenal fan but moved to brighton to do some studying and love that team too, saw them when they got promoted. So glad to see how good they have become
Considering 25 years ago we nearly weren’t in the football league anymore and now sit 6th in the premier league we have come along way. All down to tony bloom but have to give a mention to dick knight, the man who saved the football club from bill archer and belotti. The men who sold the goldstone on which a toys r us was built and no longer exists on the old shoreham road. We may not be in this position for very long so enjoy it while we can
Potter played good football but never managed to get his team scoring a ton of goals with their chances which is now being shown at Chelsea, dezerbi has helped them get over the hump of low goals and thats the difference now with him.
I agree De Zerbi inherited a good squad with the ability to retain the ball and play a passing game but they struggled to score. Now that play a passing game from the back but the passing speeds up in the last third and Matoma and Ferguson have added a new dimension. So now they score more goals and are much more attractive but are vulnerable to counter attacks.
I think Mitoma is very overrated as the star. You have Caicedo, MacAllister, Lamptey, a great keeper in Robert Sanchez... and you had Trossard. Mitoma is just another piece
Brighton's model is very sustainable. They are polar opposite to Chelsea. I wish more clubs followed in Brighton's footsteps, prioritizing wise scouting and far sighted decision making over trying to buy their way into trophies and burning truck load of cash in the players that never even make it to the bench.
That's how english football works now. You let foreign investors come, put in loads of money, buy the absolute best players for a single team, the best manager and you expect success. That's why I, albeit not a fan, am loving Arsenal's run. You can see real work of developing players' relationships, managerial prowesses and real fan dedication
The big 6 will never follow the brighton model be sure they have such a need to what is defined talent now and not youth. And because Brighton give youth this pathway it’s already starting f to be seen that it’s a more viable option to go to Brighton’s academy than one of the big 6. Ferguson snubbing Liverpool for Brighton is an example.
Well you can see the same effects with Union in the Belgian First Division. Also owned by Bloom and last year was their fist year in the top division and they should have been the champions. And this season they're in second place. The owners are literally playing Football Manager in real life haha.
Potter is a normal, average manager if you put it in international context. De Zerbi is different gravy. Let's see he how he deals this second part of the season considering the bar in PL for coaches has raised again with Lopedegui and Unai.
Graham Potter is tactically great but he cannot seem to push players to want to die for him and I think that's because he is way too nice a man to be ruthless as his other peers. Chelsea drew yesterday and oversaw a Chelsea loss to Fulham. He will have to be a lot more assertive with his team, I don't see why he isn't yet if I'm being honest
As a Newcastle fan i would say Brighton away under Potter was our toughest game all season stop blowing smoke up Di Zerbi's ass he just didn't ruin what was already there
You're not a brighton fan so I'll let you off with that remark, but trust me when I say the football we're playing under RDZ is miles ahead of Potter's tactics. Just look at Chelsea under him, he's a quality mid table manager and knows how to get defensive results, but RDZ ball is attacking and aggressive, just ask Liverpool. Under RDZ we are a genuine threat to finish 5th, maybe 4th. He's world class and if you listened to our players, watched press conferences and training, you can see it for yourself. He'll be managing an elite team in a few years
Adam after watching football since 1974 I can honestly say that Newcastle must be the most over rated club in the UK. We are on a different level now to the team that Potter left as we will show you in a couple of weeks at your place. UTA.
De Zerbi got Brighton firing on goals compare to Potter. Potter plays good football but never been clinical enough while De Zerbi despite losing Trossard are objectively better than under Potter.
Thank you, Brighton Club, because you introduced the English fans to De Zerbi...but all of Europe knows him, especially Barcelona, who has been following him for years 👇 MR RAMON PLANES Former Technical Secretary of FC Barcelona "Roberto De Zerbi? They've scored 17 goals in the last 6 games - so their average goal by game haul is getting higher - I've followed this team for more than 40 years - there has never been a better time to be an Albion fan!
The danger is that the big clubs will come over with their vacuum cleaners and take away their star players. This looks like another Southampton. Hopefully not.
Did you watch the video?! The whole point is that Bloom knows it’s a conveyor belt of unknowns who will move on when they’ve made names for themselves. It’s about always being one step ahead with having replacements ready..including the manager. I’m half suspicious Bloom wanted to replace Potter anyway as he’d been eying De Zerbi’s situation and in spite of our position was getting a bit bored with Potterball and the lack of goals. He let him go with suspicious haste!

Best season to be a Arsenal fan and a Brighton admirer eh lad? Good on ya!
This season, Arsenal and Brighton are the most entertaining team on EPL..
When Souness said he was worried about De Zerbi, I knew he would be an excellent appointment.

Another goal for mitoma. They are such well run club. I even forgot mwepu had to retire that's how good their recruitment is
Been amazing so far for us. I knew him from Serie A, as been following 30 yrs, but wasn’t sure about the appointment. Taken us up another level
the recruitment team is the biggest mystery...its rumoured that the methodology to pinpoint potential players is a company trademark secret

@Joao Albuquerque if he carries on performing for the rest of the season as he has been, he will absolutely be the star of the team
he won't stay long in UK.
he'd rather better back to university and
be a professor, or go to Spain where he can fit better.
