    Loved your review and bought jbl 230nc , 5:11 in latency test you mentioned that video mode makes no difference in latency. I thing you are using an older device without BT 5.2 support. I was too sure that i wont be able to game with these but thats not the case ,as soon as i turned video mode latency drastically reduced, it’s reduced to such low lvl that all videos are now almost perfectly lip synced. No issues in gaming either. I am using ipad pro m1 and 1+ 10R

    Hey Paul, First of all loved your unbiased review. Please keep up the good work.
    I Need your help in selecting the earbuds.
    I'm a sound engineer and Audiophile myself and want to invest in good pairs of TWS within 5-6k.
    I'm fan of flatter sound with little presence boosted for acoustic sepration. I was using 1+ bullet Z2 but really didn't liked it that much. So little fuzzy about buds Z2.
    Liked 230NC but Lag is pulling me over from it. I've used JBL before and I like it sound but that's the only issue I mentioned.
    I'm currently confused in both now and don't mind trying wireless IEM also or anything you suggest.
    If Buds Z2 is not very muddy amd boomy I may consider it. Pls suggest.

    • @PaulsPOV
      @PaulsPOV  Год назад +3

      The Buds Z2 on its Bold EQ setting to me is more neutral than its default setting. I prefer it since it's not bass heavy.
      I know what you're saying about the JBL. Its lag is quite bad. Consider the Tangzu Wan'er with a BT module if it's detail recovery and separation you want. They're a good set without over exaggerated highs and lows.

      That's very odd. To begin with, try this....reduce volume from your phone to the lowest, then the same from the earphones volume, then increase from your phone and see. This has usually helped other people. There is sometimes a mismatch between phone and earphones amping... This usually sorts it out.
      If this doesn't help, try doing a reset, and if even that doesn't help, a call to the JBL customer support should be able to figure out what's going on.

    The earbuds worked fine for the first few months, but within nine months of purchase, the left earbud stopped working completely. It did not produce any sound or connect to my phone.
    I visited customer service center twice for the same issue, but I did not get any proper resolution or assistance. I was given vague and unsatisfactory answers saying that cleaning the earbuds with a toothpick or tweezers would solve the issue. When I asked if this was the suggestion given in the manual and whether I would not be held liable for any damage to the product caused due to this, for which the service center told me that I need to keep on visiting them if there is any issue and they can only clean the earbuds and give them back to me and there is no other alternative.
    Wow, JBL ear buds are amazing, and the service offered is fabulous and the explanation given by the service center technician is just out of the world. I just love going to the customer center every other day to get them cleaned. It's like having a car that needs constant oil changes instead of earphones.

    • @PaulsPOV
      @PaulsPOV  Год назад

      This sounds quite unethical to me. If their "cleaning" isn't a proper resolve, they should replace the product since it's under warranty. Consider writing to someone in customer care or higher up. The folk at the service centers don't have much authority with replacements unless given the go-ahead from higher up.
      Did you buy your unit when it was first launched? A few people have written in the comments about this issue, and it seems to me like the first batch has this very problem.
      Even a company like OnePlus does replacements, one would expect nothing less from JBL.

    • @PaulsPOV
      @PaulsPOV  Год назад

      I've had some people write in telling me about this very issue. Apparently, it's resolved after a cleaning of the point on the buds. Dirt doesn't allow it to charge up, so it doesn't respond. A simple clean up is what's being done at the service centers and sent back after it shows that it's charging up.
      It can be a hassle for certain, but if you keep them clean, it's worth the trouble considering how nice they sound.

    • @hussainshayrose
      @hussainshayrose Год назад

      As a previous owner of 230nc, I had to replace my unit thrice for the very same problem and I don't personally think it's a cleaning issue i think it's a design or manufacturing mistake. I used to keep all my units clean and frequently cleaned them.

    • @PaulsPOV
      @PaulsPOV  Год назад

      Did JBL acknowledge it as being a manufacturing defect, and did they replace your units without any issues?

    • @hussainshayrose
      @hussainshayrose Год назад

      @@PaulsPOV JBL service centre employees themselves didn't have any clue and they just always gave me a new unit whenever I went with my defective unit. Also , all the times I visited the service centre I encountered many people who had the same issue as mine with their 230nc's as well.

    • @PaulsPOV
      @PaulsPOV  Год назад

      Then this is definitely some sort of a manufacturing issue. Cleaning the unit will only be a temporary fix. I hope JBL addresses this issue more seriously than just cleaning people's units. The majority of people who have told me about this said that the service centers only did a clean-up and sent them back home with the same unit.
      Here's hoping your unit doesn't give any more problems.

      The Nothing seems to do a slightly better job at eliminating background noises compared to the 230NC, which you would have noticed in the comparisons in the call quality chapters. Something to keep in mind is that the Nothings can have a few glitches over time like many people have faced, where as the 230NC only has the bit of an issue when connecting to its app.
      The 230 will also certainly give you longer call times compared to the Nothing.

    @Paul's POV SIR Since a conversation is going on below, in comparison, I thought I should make a separate post on this.
    Well now it has been almost a month that I have been using *OnePlus Buds Z2.*
    After using Oppo Enco Air2 Pro I was not to sure if the sound of OnePlus Z2 would also be as good *but surprisingly it did not let me down.*
    *SOUND:*
    The Bass, Mids and the treble, all are *balanced* tho yes, I am not an Audiophile, but being a layman, I had to make some changes in the Equalizer in the Dolby settings of my OnePlus 7 device.
    Otherwise also there is a dedicated Equaliser, with 4 inbuilt settings and a Few Customisable ones, which are given in the Bluetooth settings /app of Oneplus Z2, Tho I didn't tamper with that.
    ( _Having 2 equalisers doing the same kind of stuff differently would render the entire excercise useless._ )
    My usage is primarily Netflix, Prime Videos, RUclips and a little bit of RUclips music and Jio Saavn, apart from calls when I am driving.
    *VOLUME:*
    *On all the above video apps and music apps the volume is sufficient enough at around 50 to 55%...*
    In fact during the night when I am lying in the bed and watching a movie on Netflix it is even slightly below 50%.
    Amazon Prime volume has to be kept around 60-70 % which is an Amazon Videos issue...
    *Regarding the sound and Clarity..ITS SIMPLY AMAZING..*
    *BECAUSE PEOPLE WANT BASS:*
    Truthfully the True Deep Bass is *felt* ( and Not just heard) somewhere inside a space in my head which is the good thing and it is not at all hurting... Nor does it cause headache.
    *Voice Calls:*
    Most of the time I have asked the question from the person at the other end during a phone call and *he is not able to make out if I am on the regular phone or using earbuds, earphones, Tws.*
    This clearly means that the 3 + 3 microphones are doing a wonderful job.
    *ENC:*
    When I am using a hair dryer and making a call, the person on the other and has never complained... and let me remind you that *environmental noise cancellation is automatic* and no button needs to be activated during a voice call.
    *BATTERY:*
    On the battery front, OnePlus Buds Z2, I have done 2-3 tests, (the same as well as Oppo Enco Air2 Pro also) and this gave a flat 1 hour extra than Oppo... which is 7 hours+ of playback at a volume of around 50% to 60%.
    Oppo had given me 6+ hrs.
    *HISSING?? NOT AT ALL !!:*
    Coming to the issue of the *hissing sound* of the noise cancellation which *PAUL SIR* had faced truthfully *I did not face any such issue* but then I have never opted for *noise cancellation* much, because somewhere it interferes in the frequency of the music and the movies and I want my sound to be absolutely unaltered.
    I have kept all *touch controls* , transparency and noise cancellation OFF

      Hi Karthik. Sadly I haven't had a chance to do an indepth review of the C500 but I remember really liking the way it sounded during a first impressions review. I think these two on a sound front would be a very close comparison in terms of over all delivery, perhaps the JBLs may have better imaging.
      Battery life wise the JBL should give you more hours of listening time and it also has touch controls on a feature front which the Sony doesn't have.
      In terms of longevity, I've heard both sets tend to give some issues. The JBL, one bud stops charging but can be rectified by a service center, I think it's just a clean up job and the C500, some folk have mentioned hearing a hissing sound.
      I've been enjoying the JBL and haven't had any issues with it yet.

      Ho Shyam, both are good sets to own. The JBL has a fuller sound and is richer in detail compared to the oppo. It does feel like an upgrade compared to it for sure. I found my ears to hurt a little with the Oppo though but not with the JBL despite it also being a large design. Feel free to give my indepth reviews or comparisons on the JBL a look. I bought enco a2p which I lost just after 1 day of usage while in a travel. For the price I loved its sound signature. Fit is kind of okok not painful and not comfortable either. Box doesn't include optional size ear tips so It wasn't giving secure fit. But overall it was decent for me. Now I'm considering 230nc but most reviews are sponsored. The sound should be good. But there are quite a few complaints like earbuds stopped working , anc not working after repaired etc. Overall customer reviews wasn't great in online platforms. So i am in a confusion whether to go with jbl or oppo again

      If your priority is sound quality, the 230NC has better detail and a tighter bass delivery. The Z2 has a lot of body in th bass compared to the 230 but lacks detail. Loudness wise, the Z2 is one of the loudest sets of earphones I've tested so if you're into that, the Z2 will suit you.
      Functionality wise, since you have a OP phone, the Z2 should work more seamlessly with it than the JBL. You'll have to use the JBL app to operate some of its functions.

    Good point about fast charging the case. My concern is we have no control of how fast the case charges the buds themselves. Fast charging is just built in for many brands.
    Do you think this matters or no?

    • @PaulsPOV
      @PaulsPOV  Год назад

      I dont know for certain whether the buds themselves have fast charging. It's not something manufacturers let us know really, but considering they're small cells, they're bound to charge up quicker than the larger battery in the case.
      Sadly, there is no way to control that aspect of charging with the case. Ideally, a slow charge would increase the chances of prolonged battery life in the long run.

    • @outermarker5801

    Very informative video, there is just one question I can't seem to jet answered is when you first unbox these ear buds how long does it take to fully charge the case and the buds ,and when you charge the case should the bus be in the case while charging or out of the case ?, some of us out here are old school and not good with technical features and operations of them, some might think its a stupid question but too some it's a serious one?

    • @PaulsPOV
      @PaulsPOV  Год назад

      It's a very valid question. I mention battery details about this set in my indepth review on them. If the case and earphones batteries are completely flat and you plug them in to charge, a 10minute charge will give you a total of a 2hr listening session.
      A full charge will give you 40Hrs with the case with the active noise canceling off. 33Hrs with the active noise canceling on.
      The earphones alone on a full charge should give you 9Hrs with the ANC off and 7Hrs with the ANC on. You should be able to achieve this amount of listening time provides you listen to audio at 50%. If you listen to it any higher, expect lower numbers.
      The buds can be in the case while charging or not, it's upto you. They receive their power from the case so if you do find yourself in a situation where you need to use the earphones but the case is on low battery, you can plug the case in to charge while using the earphones. There's no hard and fast rule about leaving the buds in the case while the case charges.
      Straight out of the box, these usually sit anywhere between 30% to 60%. It's possible to get them at 0% as well.
      Hope this helps you John.

      A few people have mentioned that this is a 230NC issue. A lot of service centers have just cleaned the connectors and sent people back with the same unit working, but it's only a temporary fix. It's worthwhile getting a replacement unit or even a different model since it seems the number of people having this issue is growing.

      @@PaulsPOV yes they are nice but the anc on this are too low. I was using a realme bud 2 wireless neckband that has better anc, and again the gusture control is a little bit of mess. And one thing to note this earphone are not loud enough when i put then out of case but after using then for an hour or half they don't feel loud enough.
      And sometimes I found that when i put them back in the case the right side don't shut down. Idk if there is some bug or what.
      And we should not charge them with our mobile fastchargers. It tends to heat up then buds and i have replaced then also, (reason: the right side was dead. ) But now i am using a normal adaptor and things are fine.
      But honestly this are a great pair of earphone

    The buds has the best feature to stay connected with your phone even though you case them. I bought a JBL 230 NC and using them is nightmare.
    One should be lucky enough to get the buds to disconnect, as if it is in deep love with your phone. Terrible experience. Yes it has a 40 hours battery life. But the case won't initiate charging cz it won't accept the fact that you cased it. ANC is Okey, but it completely shuts down when you make a call making an outdoor call terrible. During a call mic picks every single noise except your voice. Though the sound quality is good it is totally worthless as of my 3 months used experience.
