Tim, I used to operate a 762 during the summer when school was out. He had two of them. He also had a 412 B international and a 412 B Dresser. He built catfish ponds for a living. We greased them every day. I remember it taking seven tubes of grease per scraper. No battery powered grease guns back then, just a good ole case of rubber arms when you got finished.
that is pretty cool

Should be a fantastic project. Diesel Creek Mat would love to tackle them I bet.
Just thinking that too.
Was thinking the same thang
I ran a 762B years ago up here in Virginia for a bridge and highway contractor. Loved it, moved many a yard of dirt with it
I operated this same machine 862, years ago. The job paid in cash. What a way to make money on ones behind. I remember getting swamp butt every day. Summer jobs were a bitch but the work was bearable.
The dust, heat and noise from engine woulda been rough
@@cotontop3 Thank heavens it was during the good old days. Just a memory now. Peace vf
It may be old but in my humble opinion much better than any new equipment !
It would be so cool to resque the old iron . I got two old Massey Harris tractors that was my granddaddy s . I rebuilt one in high school as a ag project. The other needs to be. I cut trees 8 inches in diameter to get out. It was alot of fun and hard work. Hope to see more of this even if you don't do all the work. Great video and all your videos.
Hey Tim, I came and looked at the machines yesterday also...got stuck by stickers alot. you're right alot of work out there..getting them to run...no problem..I thought of you 1st when I seen the trees growing inside the bowl. I clear land too..maybe a team up? it would be great to meet you in person, I been following you and Letsdig18 for a few years now..let me know!
Shoot me an email cotontop3@yahoo.com
I would be glad to help as well.
That’s such a waste, that’s some good stuff rotting away. 862 and 762 were great scrapers! Ran both and loved them
As a lowboy operator i moved 862 and 762 all the time, they a great for finish work , for, building pads , these look like all they need is a fresh set of filters and fuel. what a fantastic find.
I'm a sucker for John Deere scrapers. I ran an 862 exactly like that one for 10 years out of high school. Mine was a 1985 model. Hope to see them up and going. I'd love to run one again some day.
I owned an 862 and it was a beast. Moved a lot of dirt in a little time. Pack a fill while building the next lift. Loved it!!!
Man, I'd like to see them both up and running and doing the work they were meant to be doing!
Well done with the research……you are a natural film maker…..
Excited to watch this !! No DEF on these babies !!!
I like to see those old machines brought back to life 👍👍👍👍
Hello Tim, Hope to see you save the old iron. I would love to see the rescue of those old machines. Have great day Tim :)
👍🏻👍🏻 Can’t wait for the possible future videos on these old scrapers!
I absolutely love John Deere scrapers we still have one 862B mobile at the company that I work for… Did you ever recover and save these will there be a follow up video ??thanks for posting this video I’ve got a soft spot for old John Deere scrapers hope to see those things brought back to life
I rode by this location this past weekend and they’re both still sitting in the woods.
I run one of those old john deere pans back in the 80s 1984 john deere scraper is what I learned on. The one I learned on was push button not leavers. We used them building a gulf course in Estero Florida in ft.myers
This resecue would be nice! Those machines are in really good shape for sit here 25 years! 💛💚
Truly got your work ( cut out) for you ! That was the kind of equipment my father loved to find ! I usually got the job of cutting them out of the trees! Or pulling them out of the bottom of canyons!
Tim , love these videos you have from time to time showing old equipment. Cheers!
Glad you like them!
We have one of these scrapers on farm. We've had It since it was new it was parked back 2015 thanks to the hydraulic pump went out. we found a pump for it July last year so we got it running again last month now it's time to fix it up. Can't wait to run it
Ran those "toys" in the 80's, 762 had toggle switches for scraper functions, didn't hold up. Both were used on finishing crew on highway job, ran the 862 w the "big boys", when not working w the finish grader, the other scraper hands had a good laugh. But I had the last laugh, stayed on the job to the end, after all the dirt hogs were long gone. Thanks for posting, brought up good memories
Hope you get both out of the woods!
That will be awesome to see them recovered and running
Ole Andrew Camarata would have both those machines outa there in no time, and they'd be walkin the dog, kicking the cat and comin on back. LOL
I just subbed ya!!! Please bring us along on the revival of those old machines!! I'm a international harvester guy, but I will admit both myself and my son love seeing Ole iron restored no matter the color or name. Be safe, looking forward to your adventure!👍😁
Great project and worthwhile to get those scrapers going again. Hope you go for it.
Dude man! Those are awesome!
Hank looks like a great project for you! with Tim's support on the trees
@Hamiltonville Farm, when I saw the thumbnail, I thought it was one of your videos
Ya you should get it going Hank?
How boutcha Hank?

Хорошо сохранилась за 25 лет. Покраска 💪
Good work
AWESOME!!! VIDEO!!! I Hope To See Those Beautiful Machine’s Restored Or Just Running Again!!💯👍🏻💯👍🏻💯❤️
I hope so too!
Man Tim I hadn't seen a 762 or 862 Deere Paddlewheel scraper since my teenage years. Maybe early 20's.
One of my grandfather's buddies he subcontracted for was a Deere Man . He had two 762B Deere's . They were a good machine back in the day . I can't remember if it had the same engine as a 750B & 850B Deere Dozer or not .
Crazy how the tree grew into the flight chain on that 762😳.
Thanks for the great video bud .
Mack
They looked ready to go to work already, except for the trees part, and the hours they have, they are just getting broke in. Wonder why they were parked like that?
Love the old iron videos 👍🏻🇺🇸
Old history..thanks for sharing 👍
nice find
It's looks to be in good shape great video thanks for sharing have a great day
Thanks for watching
their on the smaller side when it comes to scrapers. I used to operate cat scrapers one being a 615 which is roughly the same size as the bigger one of those two the cats go right up to a twin powered open bowl 657 their sorta big.
I've got a 762 its a great machine
If you're unable to save both, say the engine in the 862 is gone, see if you can't swap parts to the better of the two scrapers and save at least one of them. Then clean it up as best possible, then put the thing to work for you if you can and make some good money off of it prior to totally refurbishing the thing rather than trying to do one thing at a time on it.
That's probably what happened to the original owner and didn't have the time or money to dump into it and just got fed up with fixing one part at a time to have another go bad. It tends to happen when companies try to keep a machine running as long as possible to squeeze every bit of work out of it they can before they leave it or scrap it which is just a waste in my opinion.
If most companies weren't so damn rough on their equipment and hired experienced and careful operators as opposed to the inexperienced ones that just beat the hell out of the equipment merely because they get the job done fast regardless of what damage they caused to the equipment they run, there wouldn't be as much damaged equipment lying in scrap yards or abandoned like these were.
Get into bud they look like a pretty good save and they old school so they are going to be bloody awesome mate I hope you do get them
I think that would be pretty cool to see you get them running. You wonder though if something major broke or if they were forgotten about. Is there a way to find the whole history?
ran those in the late 80s and early 90s weak link was the hyd motors on the paddle ft, would stall out when loading liked the 6 wheeler better 6010 tractor with PTO drive paddle feet. 45years in IUOE LOCAL 181. Lots of memories on that old iron.
Marty t in Nz just trecked 2 kilometers up a mountian and rescued a TD9 Bulldozer that had been there for many years.. it just popped up this morning. He carried batteries, fuel, coolant, a jack and made up a track pin and bulldozed his way out.
I used to run a CAT 631B scraper and 613 paddle wheel
looking forward to see them saved
Thinkin', Diesel Creek .....
It will be cool to restore them. My dad drove a scrapper in the early 1950s.
Get em going
Hurry and get started, I am waiting for more.
I have run the 862 model many days. You can run wide open loaded with the dirt falling off the sides. Those tractors are COLD in the winter time. I have come home and jumped in the shower and washed off half the job from those dang paddle 😆 in the summer time
I got alot of hours on a 860 building roads.really nice machines especially with the John Deere engines.we had one with a Detroit and one john dear the dear engine would work circles round the Detroit engine.
@Heavy diesel needs to come get those things out of there that would be great video
Can do video on 862 if you decide getting running love old iron videos👈👍
Save it! You can free it from the trees. You have the skills to do it. What a challenge and would love to see you rescue it.
That's the plan!
Cool video and thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Be nice to save em from the scrappers 👍👍🇺🇸
John deere model 8630 and 8640 4 wheel drive ag tractors. I pulled laser scrapers to level ground for rice fields in California in the 1980s and 1990s. Good engines.
Keep us updated Tim. That’s cool old iron
Hopefully you can save those classic machines😎✌
Loved it thanks tim
Glad you enjoyed it
Neat stuff, thanks!
Great video Tim, very interesting 👍👍
охренеть!сколько лет стояла?дерево выросло!
Get Matt from Diesel Creek and Hank and Wiley from Hamitonville farm to get it started and out of there
Like to see old iron like that
Like the videos keep them up with that but I like to see it rescued
So crazy how they let those trees grow up like that. Just parked them and walked away. Look forward to hopeful future video on this.
It happens so quick too. Mother Nature always taking over.
Rescue them!
I am excited to see the recovery. That is going to be some video.
They look like they still got good life in them
Skadill is another youtuber from British Columbia, he has many many videos of abandoned logging and construction equipment out in the woods of BC. From Timberjacks to D8 Cats it's a shame to see go to waist.
Here in the UK on sale for around £28,245 JD862
I always wonder, how can something that cost that much just be left abandoned. If our equipment wasn't working it wasn't making $$$. I would like to know the backstory? Good video, show us more.
Good question!
That machine is like a log trailer it can set for years and the only thing you might need is tires.
I bet those would look amazing in the sunlight.
Great stuff Tim, love the older machines, hate to see them left out to die like that, You should hook up with Kurt and get them on to His ' Will it start' series👌👍🙂
That would be very cool to do
@@cotontop3 👍👍🔥🐰🚜😁😉
I used to run one wide open with full loads not good when the road used to sometimes give out from under you
I bet it was when it was fully loaded
Those are pretty cool
hey when you get it running again, will that make it yours? it would be sad to put all that work in to something and have some one to come along and take it back
There just popped up in my Facebook marketplace in Columbus MS, found this video googleing the model number and then realized it's the same machines
You are correct.
I'm guessing new fuel, oil, filters and battery to get the machine started?
when the motor way went though in the uk i used to mend the puntures, on them, i was a tyre fitter,
very low hours those things weren't even broke in yet
Get ahold of heavy d from diesel brothers he’d probably help you.
I emailed him lol
619-10.1 motor for sure. Oil filter housing told me that. Got a tractor with same motor.
I’ve always wondered what happens or these old machines once they become dated.
I'd love to see the trees removed as well as the scrappers running. That would be cool.
hopefully that will happen
Bitte, bitte beantworte mir meine bitte?,
LG.Herbst Johann aus Österreich
This is going to be awesome.
I am sure you need to put a 1 to the left of those numbers on the hour meters.
So, how many of these in a bunch?.
New batteries, change fuel filter add some water and fire it up!!!
Hey
If you need help then if you come to Hamillton Farm the man's name is Hank, we're happy to help.
If you like going to shows where the old machines are running, you can do it there.
matt von disel creek is always interested in that kind of thing and can maybe use a dafon too.
god bless.
Can't wait to c them moveing
That will be a job hope you all get to do it. Maybe there want be much wrong with them.
Smoothest running pan I ever sat my but on 862
I bet if you were able to cut those trees and count the rings that would give you a pretty accurate reading of how long they've been there
Looks like a job for Hank and Wally!
