Just watched through your El Camino videos. I have a 76 gmc sprint. Mine has what I believe to be factory tie down loops located in the four rectangular indents in the bed sides. I have used it to tow up to 4k as well and it's OK when the trailer is right. Air shocks are a must. To much tongue weight is uncomfortable. I've had a half ton in the bed.
@@GMC.Sprint that’s good to know! Thanks! Currently the air shocks work, don’t know how old they are but they are not the factory ones. Do you recall what rear gears you had?
@Foxcanfixit 3.08 rear gear with 235/70r15 tires. I have swapped in a 700r4, and I'm very happy with that ratio. I run in drive unless I'm going over 55. I use a toggle switch to control the torque converter lockup.
@@GMC.Sprint thanks! I’ve got 2.73 with a factory posi. I want to go 3.42 with an overdrive trans but I’ll wait till I swap the heads, see how it drives and go from there. I run 225/70/15 tires
@Foxcanfixit I imagine most people would want a slightly lower ratio than I do. With the 3:1 first gear in the 700r4 I'm not lacking any power in first gear. Someone using a 200r4 might have a different opinion. The 700r4 is a really easy install though. A 4l60e would be about the same.
Accessory position is for the Siren & LED lights
