Actually, he IS being fair. Zeus is not only God of thunder but of Justice. The sacred cows of Helios (his son) have just been killed. Punishment must be dealt. But who should take the punishment - the culprits (Eurylochus and the crew) or their captain and king, who is supposed to lead them? He gave Odysseus that choice ALSO to teach him a lesson: HIBRIS (Pride) is a dangerous thing that only HE as the King of the Gods (and a womanazer, hence his allegory of a damsel) can manipulate, control and exploit. Jorge is a genius bringing all these layers to the lyrics.
It kinda annoys me that this comment is underneath a video I which the God's are acting fair......it seems to be this consistent thing of modern people looking down on old myths and morals with a smug attitude
The big man in the clouds is Zeus, he is Poseidon and Hades brother and the reigning king in Olympus. He's a big threat to them. As someone mentioned before, the gods are never fair beings. They truly don't care, there were consequences to their actions. For me, I think it was better for Zeus to come down over Helios or Apollo coming down due to one of his crew members killing the Sun Gods cow.
I'm pretty sure Zeus never planned on letting Odysseus' crew live. But Zeus is a jerk and he was just making a point to punish him for his pride; that if Odysseus COULD sacrifice himself to save his men, he wouldn't. Was that fair? Absolutely freaking not. But with Greek mythology, that tracks.
Not to Punish but to teach a lesson and test him.....remember what happend when Poseiden offered a merciful choice as well and he naively jumped at the offer

When they killed the cows Helios threatened to not drive the Sun Chariot, in this time Apollo was not merged into Helios as the Sun God and the horses that drove the chariot were not controlled by anyone but Helios. In many stories its said that Zeus avoided going against 2 big Deities and that's Nyx the Goddess/Titian of Night (he was scared of her) and Helios since he was the only one to drive the sun. So he was always going to kill the crew because Helios wanted them dealt with.
And now....we wait! According to the wiki, there will be three more sagas with five songs each (assuming no songs get cut). I only found out about Epic when this saga came out, so this will be my first time waiting for more! I hope to see your reactions when we eventually get a new saga! 😊
Bruh i physically cringed when he said he didn't know who Zeus was. how in the hells can someone look almost 30 and not know Zeus, the Greek king of the gods. whether through movies, or just school like bruh.
