- Hi! In this video I'm reacting to System Of A Down for the first time and analysing the amazing duality that can be found on Serj's vocals! (𝑅𝑒𝓂𝑒𝓂𝒷𝑒𝓇 𝓉𝑜 𝒸𝓁𝒾𝒸𝓀 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓈𝓊𝒷𝓉𝒾𝓉𝓁𝑒𝓈 𝑜𝓃!)

Finnish is such an interesting language. I could listen to you talk for hours 😃
I've seen Finnish commentators say that her accent is particularly appealing.
@@m.gideonhoyle409 very radio-worthy voice and good pronunciation compared to average finn
It was good enough for the High Elves in Valinor, right?
Let's be honest, here. She could be speaking binary, and you'd still have people making the same comments. It's her intelligence, knowledge, voice, articulation, delivery and bone structure that everyone loves so much.
True
To me, you speaking Finnish is a quality of its own in this channel. Your English is excellent, but your personality really burns through when you speak in your native tongue. I really hope you keep that. And beyond language skills, I get so much insight into music and song by your vast knowledge of those.
Thank You!
I love the Finnish language and her accent.
Honestly though, I'll watch anyone who's actually enjoying the music. So many people fake reactions.
Thank you so much for this comment!
I started this channel during lock-down to be able to help my Finnish students better. However, things escalated quickly and as my channel grew to be more international, I started adding CC as well as speaking more English. I still have both too young and too old Finnish students to be able to read written Finnish. I've actually gotten tons of positive feedback on the bilingualism which I am of course very happy about!
Thank you to Brandon as well, people like you guys keep me going 🥰
I'm old enough that I went to school in the pre-Internet days so exposure to things was far more limited, but a classmate of mine went on the American Field Service study abroad program and spent a year in Finland.
You don't get to choose the country you are assigned to, and Finnish is considered one of the most difficult to learn, but she was such a brainiac that she did very well, loved the country so much that she eventually emigrated. This she managed from a country notorious for not learning other languages.
While I didn't travel as much as I'd have liked to, now at least you can get exposure to things much more easily. Which is why I have Norwegian friends and picked up a few words! So, I too am enjoying this channel as much for that as the expertise in the music video reactions.
i love that sometimes she breaks her finish to use a English metaphor, when you learn foreign language metaphors.. you can't help using them. They say so much with such few words.
Welcome to the System Of A Down rabbit hole, it's a wholesome place full of authenticity and great musicianship in general.
Hope you enjoy it!
Aerials, Chop Suey, Spiders...they have so many great songs that still feel fresh to this day. Keep analyzing SOAD it's a great band.
yes Spiders , he is a top singer but just in spiders he shows his pure classical talent and reach
on todays finnish class: how to count! lovely reaction as always anna :) SOAD was one of my introductions to metal id say. glad to see them here.
Yes!
Repeat after me:
Yksi
Kaksi
Kolme
Neljä
😂
I've never noticed the whispered backing vocals until you pointed them out haha. Listened to this song hundreds of times and never heard it.. Good ear! Love the video. I highly recommend Spiders or Question as other videos to check out.
They blend catchy melodies and hard riffs sooo well!
The members of the band have Armenian ancestry, something that you will find in some melodies of the instruments and Serj's voice. And Serj is a very underrated singer, imo !
I remember singing this song when I was going to music college in 2012 and it’s so impressive that Serj Tankian can hit all of those notes and the rhythms as well are really interesting as it’s more inspired by Armenian folk music and less so by metal.
Great reaction. SOAD has a lot of interesting songs. I guess I'd like to see you react to Chop Suey, for a few reasons. It was a hit for them, it has very deep lyrics, and you get to hear vocal harmonies from the guitarist, Daron. They also have a song called "I-E-A-I-A-I-O". It's funny because the chorus is all vowels, and the verses are tongue twisters.
This band got me into metal all those years ago. Honestly, the catalogue is insane.
this band did so much special songs with a very abstract approach. simply awesome. :)
This entire album is a Proggressive Metal masterpiece!
I love your reactions. 😊
Can't wait for you to do more System, Love your reaction!
Whatta awesome reaction I’ve seen it several times and will watch again
YOUR VOICE IS AMAZING 🙏👍
Another great analysis, as usual but i really enjoyed how you reacted to the song. Love from Argentina
Powerful and vibrant piece.
You should react to System of a Down - Spiders! One of Serj Tankian’s more impassioned vocal displays. (side note: I really like hearing the back and forth from Finnish to English. I don’t understand it beyond the subtitles , I am Armenian American diaspora, but it just sounds so precisely expressive and conveys your personality to us in a way that an all English video couldn’t do)
Great video, I'm kinda addicted to watch your reacts. Watching from Brazil
if you liked this, serj vocals in "spiders" is amazing. btw i dont know what your saying but i love your accent lol.
Thank you! System of a Down was my favourite band when I was at high school and Im always happy to come back to it and listen to them again :)
Another great reaction & analysis of this song. So good. These guys have made some incredibly artist music.
Very Nice analysing !
Yes love that youre covering these guys, all of their discography in my opinion is worth a listen, though thats alot I mean, just hope to see more in the future :)
Why did I enjoy this soo much
great song... excellent choice!
It's a fantastic journey. I know you will love it.
Widening my musical horizon - not for the first time Anna. Thank you !!!
That was really intense! Wow.
Daaamnn.. sooo pretty. So pretty. The song is great too.
🎉❤ Congrats to joining the Soad rabbit hole. Every track of theirs is a miniature miracle.
First time watching you; instantly subbed. Can’t wait to see more from you!
Aww welcome to my music family! Your support is MUCH appreciated 🥰🙏
Great reaction, loved the head banging at the end lol. Thanks.
:D
Hey beautyfull!!! Amazing song. Good reaction. Thanks. I'm a Nightwish fan. And hearing you makes me want to learn finish language. Thanks again. Greettings from Argentina. Sorry for my English.
I appreciate a lot your depictions
I love watching your expressions change with the shifts in direction within the song... Your enthusiasm is catchy!
yayy!
Я полюбил твои реакции, ты большая молодец!
You got it very right the first time! And yes, this loud and soft dynamic is a signature of pretty much all SOAD songs. But I hope you enjoy many more!
(and also, he is not straining his voice - he's built for that, and has never gone hoarse or weak to my knowledge)
(also, this music video is goofy as hell, it was way more awesome/scary listening to this on the radio for the first time!)
Oh I've been missing you, always so interesting and fun to listen to. System of a down has some legendary songs by now like 'Chop Suey', 'B.Y.O.B.' and 'Aerials'. Looking forward to more SOAD and hopefully some Jinjer soon. 🤞
Nice reaction tks
wow what lang she speaking !!! thats sound beutifull
I really enjoy how you perform the actual effect while explaining them, like with, "resonate," "scooping," and "falling off." It's really helpful in connecting the concepts to the nomenclature. Very insightful and educational analysis, thank you!
If you like different time signatures you will love TOOL. I saw you reacted to "Sober", but i first recommend "the Pot" to all new listeners. Its more accessible and highlights every instrument and Maynards singing. After that there are tons of other songs from them.
System of a down is one of my favorite bands and they created some of the most influencal albums in the last decade.
I recommend "Spiders", "Arials", "Questions", "BYOB" etc.
Serj Tankian(vocalist) has also some solo projects that are really amazing. He combined his raw and soft singing also with more classical influences for his music.
I recommend here "Empty walls", "Sky is over", "Honking Antilope" and "Harakiri"
She is spot on regarding his live performances. She is really good.
I'd love to hear more about their live performances!
I am thrilled that the namesake of my favorite album of SOAD is your first exposure. Great first introduction to a great band.
I'd love a reaction to A Perfect Circle - The Contrarian. You've watched Maynard perform with Tool before so I'm curious what you'd think of some of his other musical endeavors!
Amazing !!! SDS desde Chile 🇨🇱 preciosa 🎸🤘
Hello Anna and greetings from Norway! As a hobbymusician I like watching reactionvideos of singers/teachers, like yourself, on youtube to get some tips and tricks on vocals. I love how you exemplify how they sing, and would like to hear your thoughts on rockmusic, like Metallica, Volbeat and Rammstein. Keep up your work and and have a great day.
It's so sweet how you analyze the songs
Thank you!
Hello. Just stumble over your channel. Your finish language sounds beautiful. And your work is very nice. Have nice christmas days
Thank you! ☺️🙏 Have a lovely Christmas you too!
First time hearing them. . . The changes in composition is a breath of fresh air. With gritty vocals being able to switch to a cleaner sound is a nice touch. Your breakdown is fabulous, of course. . . But that's why I tune in. . My dearest Anna, it's great to be back with you again, it's been a few months. . . Love you mucho 💕 , my fair lady. . . It's like getting back together with an old friend, . . Ahhh... 🙏✌👍🇺🇸🇩🇰🏴☠️
I am SO HAPPY to have you back!
I would suggest some Soad songs for you to react... Chop sue, aerials, question and spiders are amazing... Also question is a wild one.. I think you are going to love it!
so schweet when you speak finnish ;-). you identify things very quick. impressive. and beautiful as well ;-)
You are amazing 🤙🏻🇺🇸🇫🇮
You'd probably like very much their song 'Aerials' from the same album as this one, for the beautiful harmonies when the guitarist (Daron) sings alongside Serj, the lead singer, and middle-eastern influences in the song.
I don't really listen to System Of A Down but I like some of their songs, so I just decided to watch this randomly and saw I somehow wasn't subscribed to your channel anymore. I don't remember unsubscribing...weird.
But anyway, one thing I like about your videos that I might not have mentioned before is just seeing you enjoy the music. Your analysis and understanding of music is remarkable, but it's also what allows you to appreciate the nuances and creativity of certain songs, and it's fun to watch.
WHY ARE YOU ALL SO BEAUTIFUL??? 😭
System of a Down is such a fun band. Best alternative/metal band for non metal people.
Listened to these a lot in High School. They made several good albums. Elect the dead was Serjs solo debut album. Was awesome too
Anna ..your English has improved soooo much , I mean it was always good but now you almost have a beautiful soft English accent to go along with your beautiful Finnish looks ......and yes I am a fan of you and your reactions !❤💯
It has? o.o Well thank you!🥰
Awww you are the sweetest!
Cannot wait, as they used to say, waiting with baited breathe
Anna, I'm not really sure why but, for some reason, I picture you having this song in your personal playlist and listening to it while at the market for veggies or on a long drive somewhere. 😁👍 You really are amazing and your musical knowledge is impressive. As always, BIG HUGS and much ❤to you and the pups! Btw how did your brothers hunt go? 😁
hahah! This is definitely something I could blast out with my brother!
My brother and his friend got a deer!
As you know, I'm always happy to read a comment from you. 😊
Of their well known songs, Toxicity is unusual in that it only features one of their vocalists. If you're willing to do a second song, I would highly recommend "Chop Suey" or "Hypnotize". "Chop Suey" is a bit more emotional with interesting rhythmic changeups. "Hypnotize" has really cool melodies with wide climbing intervals and harmonies layered on top.
I'm an aerials man myself
@@jakepetropoulos1074 Spiders ;P
Serj Tankian was born in Beirut Lebanon and raised in USA.Tankian is one of the best vocalist in heavy metal He has a vocal range of 4.2 octaves. He is passionate about human rights and social justice that a lot of his songs are about. His religion is Native American,Christian.Buddhist and transcendental ideas. His favorite politician is Bernie Sanders.
yea his political activist career is rather unfortunate as they as SoaD spent all their musical career writing anti-war songs and then he supported heavily Armenian prime minister Pashinjan who later dragged Armenia into a war. But at least because of that we got a proper war song Protect the Land from SoaD... it was really bizzare to hear Sabaton style proper war song from SoaD, but dont get me wrong I like a good war song lol. ...also Bernie Sanders is a sellout lol... Im not sure if he supports him anymore after Sanders sold his president candidacy two times to Clinton and Biden (both huge warmongers).
Nice video, good song! My suggestion is Mylly from Korpiklaani. Cheers from Portugal :)
It’s a signature move to make those great transitions, good review u lucky 🦆…
Not just my favorite SOAD song, but one of my favorite songs of all time.
Serj is so AWESOME vocally, he has a video with an actual symphony that I love, it's crazy his range. I love to see when people react to metal music and realize is not just a bunch of noise and that there are talented musicians that know how to write incredibly complex and GOOD music(not talking about you Anna lol 😂 other people) even the most hardcore death metal and deathcore has some of the most theatrical and symphonic sounds that you can hear but they're just made with drums and heavy guitars. Keep it up Anna, love your reactions and analysis 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻 btw as a Spanish speaker, English is my second language, and lover of different languages and accents, Finnish sounds so cool ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for your kind words, I'm very happy to know you like my content so much!
I know that to some people my bilingual videos might be too much but it warms my little heart to know that some ppl like yourself enjoy it too. 🥰
@@annavaskelainen you're bilingual videos are never too much, you are lovely so don't listen to those people 🥰🥰❤️❤️🤟🏻🤟🏻
i have a tip for you which i know vocal coaches react to to bump up their subscribers... guaranteed! i know this country is pretty proud of their singers.
the world needs your take on the vocalists of knocked loose.
First and foremost your full of awesomeness. Much respect for soad. I have a request check out King Diamond vocals are out of this world.
Love SOAD. Lots of reaction videos of BYOB, Sugar and Hypnotize. But all their songs are great!
Awesome
love and blessings!
Likewise!
What shall I say: I just love the Anna way😊
Me, too ! And I love to see this community growing. So well deserved !
What a beautiful language....))))
Ive now watched reactions of the same song from three different women from three different countries. I love how universal a song can be!
Anna you are awesome. I'm so disturbed by what is going on in Gaza, this brief visit with you is sanity restoring.
This channel is definitely all about peace and love!
You have to do question next. It really shows serj’s amazing range
I've seen them live - I think we should just love them for no reason.
I think this is some excellent eclectic metal. These guys definitely seem to bring rather unique sensibilities to heavy music. It is true that, being an Armenian band, that culture does somewhat inform their distinctive sound. However, I believe it goes deeper than ethnicity, down to their truly singular tenets as musical artists.
Minum nimeni on Kris, love your channel and trying super hard to learn finnish lol
Hahah I think you are in the right place then if you are learning Finnish Kris! 😂
I believe you'll find their song Question? quite enjoyable. It's an EPIC song. Also, the entirety of their first, self titled album. Go for it, you won't regret it for a second. Hell, go for the discography 😄
Whenever I listen to question or watch the video, I imagine it’s about a young couple in the icu in comas after a terrible car accident. The berries are available to both of them, but she eats them and crosses over into whatever come after this life. He doesn’t and eventually recovers. She was pregnant in my scenario making the baby at the end not only an allusion to the neighboring question of reincarnation, but possibly literally their offspring.
Serj, being such a pro opera singer, while he was in SOAD and later in his solo stuff, really sets him apart.
Cheer to see a "pro" feeling the sensitivity of this song --- peace
I have no idea what she's saying but goodness, i'm riveted.
(edit: OK nevermind she started speaking in English... I'm still riveted)
It makes sense
I have so far not seen anyone do a reaction to Tori Amos "Me And A Gun". Should be perfect for a vocal coach, since it is single voice a capella. The experience she processed through that song is another matter of course.
As for SOAD: They have on occasion dropped hints to the meaning of their lyrics (when they weren't obvious like BYOB e.g.), but generally whatever you find is yours. Like with Rammstein lyrics - it is up to the listener to find a message, or not.
Michael Palmisano does a terrific reaction to "Me and a Gun" followed by "Winter"...he just discovered her and he gets completely gobsmacked...he is a guitar instructor with a great channel...🙂
John's drumming on this track is so brilliant. He sits just behind the beat and gives the song a slight dissonance. It's a perfect complement.
Too bad he became a Dumper cultist!
@@Gabriel_Molineirrelevant to his comment
Love your rections! I would like to recommend you their song Chop Suey of this band, its an emotional anthem
I love SOAD. You should listen to Aerials or Question by them as well.
They are talking about the toxicity of Hollywood, California, where they are from.😁🤘❤️🎼
Seuraavaksi ehdottomasti System of a down - Aerials 😊
great video i loved you in star wars
Oh thx!
Finnish is so epic! ♥️♥️♥️
Check out Question!, Spiders, or Chop Suey
Do you think you will be doing Heilung "Anoana" live, or "Nord" by Nytt Land? Thank you for you continued contributions and analysis. You seem to find the parts others miss.
Aika hassua, että puhumalla 50/50 suomea and english actually works! Hyvää työtä, good job❤
Näin olen ymmärtänyt kommenteista! Onhan tämä vähän hupsu konsepti!
"Is this one of their signature things or is it only for this song?" Across five albums, in almost every song they love to play around with dynamics. Sometimes it's best to listen to System of a Down with one hand on the volume knob!
Hyvä kappale ja hyvä reaktio! Jos jatketaan SOADin ja Serjin parissa, niin mielelläni näkisin reaktioita kappaleisiin Holy Mountain, I‐E‐A‐I‐A‐I‐O, Empty Walls tai Rumi, joista kaksi ensimmäistä on System of a Downia ja kaksi jälkimmäistä on Serjin soolotuotannosta.
Nyt tuli uusia SOAD-teemaisia ehdotuksia! Toivotaan, että nämä keräävät ääniä! :)
I'd love to hear your reaction to their song "Suggestions" from the self titled album (not the live version)
