Congratulation Mike for the kickflip and your dedication to learning. In my youth I have skateboarded for 8years or so. I can totally agree that this is one of the hardest sports in the history of sport, as you can combine any trick with (almost) every trick and do them normal stance, switch, fakie or nollie.

its amazing that you can still do so many skills and it would be super cool to see if you could perfect some of these schools so that you almost always get it
2:30 for the kick the best way I can give you advice is tuck like a figure skater and throw your arms twice, its sounds weird but you throw your elbows and your legs will just follow, after throwing your arms tuck them close and you spin very fast. Im a black belt in taekwondo and im doing that kick as a board break in nationals this weekend. I promise youll land it everytime if you follow those steps and break any mental blocks cause learning the kick is painful.
You know when you’re whaching someone new and you don’t really like their voice. I’m going to be brutally honest, he👆was one of them. I watched a few videos, and I realised, it’s the person. Not the voice or looks. I grew on it and he is an awesome man. Keep up the work
The reason you struggled on the 540 kick was because you didn't turn your body with your leg. To be able to have a smooth spin you need to turn your body with your leg, instead of having your body stationary and your leg going ahead, this stops you from spinning 540. And to spin faster try bringing you arms into your body while your spinning in the air. Hope this helps 😄👍
that feeling of the first flip trick is amazing, I've been trying to get it again with many different skate tricks but nothing feels the same. Now I'm working on my first late trick, the late heelflip and hope that I will get that feeling again when I will finally land my first one
In my opinion the reason why the kickflip was so hard for you was the fact that you didn't know how to skate in the first place (as I think you said) if you were to have any sort of experience skating you would've have a MUCH easier time.
all imma say is a failed attempt into failed attempt to doing the 360 kick and yelling "lets finish everythings else NOW!" deff one of the most inspirational things ive seen
I did Tae Kwon Do for like 3 years. The 540 kick is essentially a "tornado kick". To make it easier (and keep you from breaking your ankle), you lift the knee of your non-kicking leg vertically quickly to get you off the ground while twisting backwards, and then you have to kick very quickly. Good job getting it!
After skating for over ten years, sometimes I forget how overwhelmingly difficult it was to learn each and every new trick. Some would take hours, some would take months. I know it's too late, but I recommend learning while in motion. It will make your life 1000x easier. If you do this again, try a heel flip or some variation of shove-it, but while moving forward.
