  • Getting full size boards on board has kept me up at night now I’ve blocked up the back door with the galley. Here’s how I got on getting them to the boat and eventually in place

James, watching you and the boys move all those boards just proves that good guys get good mates.
{edit} when you cut out that notch for the pipes - the first time I have shouted at RUclips.

Poor sweary Dan! Making him walk all the way around, five times, is a bit mean, James.
Your woodcutting faux pas reminded me of my first job, as a suspended ceiling fixer's mate. There was a particular brand of square ceiling tile that only fitted one way round, so three chances out of four to get it wrong. I soon learned...
    All the best, mate. 👍

Coming on fine James .. it's good to see that the boating community are still willing to help people .
Which is a great to see these days. All I can say about your videos mate is that they are always interesting and informative ..
    Keep safe and well mate.

Search Heavy Duty Piano Hinge. I found 4" wide stainless piano hinge. But it would need to screw into the ply and that's only glued to the structure through the battens.

You are really lucky to have the friends that you do. Sweary Dan, love the name, was a real trooper. Hope you treated him to a visit to the nearest pub. I was afraid you and the board were going to tend up in the cut. Count me as another one screaming at the tv 😂. You got a lot done ✅ Good work.
    😊🤗 Kathy

    Here’s a suggestion.
Onboard Naval Vessels, bunks have storage under the mattress shelf. It hinges up with divided spaces underneath.
Or you could do the same thing but put in drawers instead of hinges.
    Just a thought.
Glad to see you back putting out videos again. I enjoy them.
    Cheers

Glue the waste bit from that notch back in before you lose it - it won't even notice.

Lee Valley tools in Canada has some hinges for fold up beds. They are designed for Murphy beds and they are a bit pricy and probably something you might not want to buy. I think that it might give you some ideas as to how to mount the upper bunk and perhaps get something similar. They are called "Spring Box Hardware for Fold-Down Beds", from Lee Valley tools at $229 CDN

I would have fixed the bed frame to the two bulkheads. It would be a solid construction and no need for any legs on the floor to get in the way of any storage.

Those legs are temporary as a test. It will be fixed to the bulkheads as you say - thanks

Apparently a lot of us were shouting at the video, so that was helpful, I'm sure.

Hi James, Have you given up on solar?
I can't help thinking the rope and many other obstructions over a solar panels will lessen energy uptake from the sun. Please clear your solar panels at 2:32 of this video so we can all be asured solar is worthwile for the future. Or are portable powerstations like Bluyetti Ecoflow or Jackery the new Narrowboat world oder?

Not sure if it's just the camera, but the bulk head looks like it could be wider slightly to fit more room? Then again it depends on how much space you want to walk though
