A full tour on a cruise ship.... when you see what spaces there are that the passengers will never see, you immediately have videos for a whole year, Nick! But the fact remains that every ship, private or commercial, is always interesting. They all remain unique copies and you make it understandable for everyone.

I've spent a bit of time riding SF Bay Area high speed ferries. And diplomatically quizzing crew on technical details. As we know....curiosity is appreciated by crew...but often impedes their ability to get the job done and run a safe vessel.

I like the fact that it is all on one level being as I am stuck in a wheelchair. I wonder if anyone has converted something like this into a 40 meter super yacht, you certainly have the deck space to have amazing berthing and crew cabins and all the extra spaces for distance cruising, derate the engines, reduce by 2, who needs a 40 knot super yacht. I imagine properly configured you could get 3000 Nm range, we are seeing a lot of older hulls revamped and in some cases lengthened, sounds like a fun project.

Thanks Nick for making this video for us. I live around nothing but land in the United States and we don't have water around us to get to have a boat like that. If I had a older boat like that an I'd have all new engines put in, remove the 200 plus passenger seats then build cabins in that big open space the seats were at. I bet it would be awesome to have about 4 or 6 bedrooms or 8 to 12 total for family and staff if needed. Having a comphy salon with a big screen tv, and perfect country kitchen or called a galley on it. I wonder what the total distance would be if you only run the boat at 12 or 15 k. Turn a passenger boat into a full family boat. I mean each cabin would have big windows and not just a porthole to look out of. I bet it would be awesome. I seen people turn older cargo canal boats turned into their homes. An one guy went so far out of the box of normal and took an emergency rescue boat without a motor and built him a really nice tiny house on the water. Another Great video you made buddy. I could talk all night about boats, i love them.

Thank you Nick, I really enjoyed this. I was in Sweden recently and used the hour long journey on the water ferries between Tappström and Klara Mälarstrand in Stockholm, a bit smaller and conventionally powered but you could sit outside if you wanted to (very steep stairs though). They also had bar/serveries for refreshments. All new to me and fun to ride, much better than a bus.
If you want a fun "cruise ship" check out the Silja Line Ferries between Stockholm and Helsinki. They are full sized Cruise ships.

For many years we lived on UES in Manhattan (far E 85th). Much of my work was down on Wall St. Not until 2018 did they start the East River ferry. My attitude getting to the office on water was 1000% better than taking the subway.

I'm old enough to remember the hydrofoils blasting past us as I sailed my little Laser off of Calshot, then my Saber as I would make my way out from Ashlett to wherever on a Friday. It's a shame the internet wasn't around then, I would have enjoyed seeing Nick crawl around one of those.

I've been on the red jet 7 at cruising speed when a small fishing boat drifted onto our course. We immediately went into full reverse so we felt the immense power of the braking and it really did stop in its own length maybe even less!

Fascinating very safety conscious, with all the systems on the bridge and engine room. Back up and more back ups with glimpse if familiar items such as blue battery boxes or Humphrey boat balancing system. But the best is Nicks reactions to the biggest engine room I've seen. Splash and dash to refuel - love it. a very impressive well planned room tgat meets the needs if the services. Shame you couldn't have a drive😂

Going over to Cowes one year (during Cowes week) I experienced the emergency stop, as a small boat wandered in front of us, we were quite a distance from it but I guess safety protocols warranted putting on the brakes , and wow yes it does stop incredibly quickly, had to grab onto the seat in front.

Nick, I’ve just visited Brixham and a tour of the beam trawlers would be amazing. The kit these carry and the pure work horse of the vessels is outstanding. Neil Watson is a fantastic tour guide of the Brixham fish market also which would be great for people to see the they do once the fish is landed.

Well.. You have certainly peaked the curiosity of a lot of your subscribers (me included) to the commercial aspect of a life on the ocean wave. I found it absolutely fascinating. Tell me have you ever toured any luxury yachts with the jet engines, I know they build them in New Zealand.

For a few years I used either the Hoverspeed Cats from Dover to Calais or the one to Boulogne every weekend to travel to Belgium before I moved here full time, great to see how their smaller sisters operate and what's under their skirts 😉 When those services were cancelled I went on to the Norfolk Line Dover to Dunkirk route and my little car stuck between all those HGVs great times!
First time I took my wife to be to the UK was on the cat from Calais, Happy days :)

Very cool and interesting, Nick! It seems to have a lot in common with the M/V Bravest, on which I took a glacier tour out of Whittier, Alaska. The Bravest started life as a New York Harbor ferry, and is named for its role in evacuation and first responder transportation on September 11, 2001. It's much modified from its original configuration, including reinforcement for traveling through ice-filled water. It only has two engines and jets, but carries ~250 and cruises at 30 knots, including through broken ice, which was sure an eye opener for me! Of course, I didn't get to see any of the crew-only spaces like you did!
