As a chef it’s genuinely so refreshing seeing you taking the time to interview the pit masters, learn their techniques, and share the history of these restaurants. Major props!!
A giant room with picnic styled seating is the Texas Barbeque equivalent of seeing Dragon Ball merch at a Mexican styled restaurant, YOU KNOW you're gonna get amazing food from there
Deadass I was in Colombia recently and the most insanely good food I had was from a ramshackle street card with bootleg pictures of Wario playing futbol. You know when copyright infringement is thrown to the wind that the vendor only truly really cares about the food lol.
Yeah, because their food is so good, they think they don't have to worry about amenities. I do. They might accidentally get carryout business from me, but I doubt it. I don't like carryout anything, especially pizza, because no steaming hot food travels well in corrugated cardboard. Disgusting idea.
Your video made me cry! I have been going to Southside for all long as I can remember, half my family is buried there in the main cemetery. My dad would always take us there to eat. Seeing the old location brought back so many fond and wonderful memories. You missed their pork steaks... but, nothing beats their sausage. YUM!!! I have been craving Southside... now! I know I have to make the 3 hour trek there and back! Thank you!!!
Going to Texas for 'Cue and eating at Dickeys would be like going to Italy for Pizza and eating at Pizza Hut. Heck, I bet you would have gotten better 'Cue from that Buck-Ees than from Dickeys.
Unironically Buc-ee's is significantly better than Dickey's. If you used a standard bell-curve, Buc-ee's is the definition of a 5.0 on the scale, and Dickey's sits at around a 3.1, maybe even a bit lower
@popemon7608 Dickey's is just a step above Chili's and Applebee's when it comes to BBQ. Buccee's is below a 5. I bought a brisket sandwich there one time and t was the last time.

Dylan, you are now a real Texan! Congrats and welcome!! Dickey's BBQ sadly has lost their way. They used to be much better when I moved to Texas from Massachusetts in 1996. There are a few of their locations that still produce quality BBQ, but they are low in numbers. I've not been to Cooper's or Southside Market yet, but I will soon. My #1 for Texas BBQ?
