Australian Model Railway Association - Victoria Branch
Part 1 of 2
Hello all,
Welcome to an Australian model railway exhibition video. Today we have the first part of our coverage of the Australian Model Railway Association Victorian Branch's 52nd Model Train Show. This year the exhibition was held at the Showgrounds Pavilion in Flemington for the second year in a row. This marks the return of Victoria's largest model railway exhibition, which this year boasts 59 exhibitors. Of the exhibits, 21 were operational layouts, encompassing a wide variety of Australian, American, English, European and Japanese prototypes in scales of 1:22.5 to 1:480.
A range of new layouts are seen in this video, as well as many returning layouts. Two visiting layouts from NSW were also present this year, both of which will be featured in part 2.
On Sunday, Elecrail, a subgroup of Steamrail Victoria, operated their preserved Tait train to shuttle visitors from the city to the venue.
In this video we begin with capturing the Tait on their first shuttle to the venue, then proceed with our coverage of the exhibits. We capture the layouts and displays between 1 to 34, covering 11 stands.
This year's video is a comprehensive video, capturing all but two of the layouts; these will be listed in the description of part 2.

Awesome footage and layouts..thanks for sharing matey.. cheers
Great video mate, great coverage
Lovely video I did the Tait set last year
What a wonderful video!! Nice to see 00 in use in Australia!!
Been around for ages. Mostly Triang was the affordable choice of a large British migrant population. Australian outline is becoming more popular now that there are several mainstream manufacturers.
Great compilation of footage! And again, big thanks for coming by, filming, and sharing my layout :)
Cheers and no worries! Great to see the layout again.
how does the t gauge work again?
From what I understand, it utilises linear motors under the tracks, where the rolling stock linked to the motors by magnets.
The trackbed is made of a series of very very small electromagnets, which can be switched between N, S and off polarities.
Each piece of rollingstock has its own permanent magnet in it's base, to interact with the trackbed.
To move, each electromagnet in the trackbed is rapidly switched between N, S and O(off), so that the north polarity "moves" along the trackbed, like so:
1. N-S-O-N-S-O >
2. O-N-S-O-N-S >
3. S-O-N-S-O-N >
And the wagons / trains are attracted to the north, and repelled from the south, so they keep moving with the magnetic 'current'.
