so are you telling me that the Trello team, the ones in charge to distribute the game's information accurately, have to figure said information on their fucking own? the owner hates hand holding so much that he refuses to help his own team, hilarious.
The trello afaik is community run in its entirety, there is no "official" trello because the owner had is head so far up his own ass he wants people to mindless try things over and over with no direction until 1 person figures it out, and then it gets put online and now obviously everyone has that info
@@EclipseGameplays you see, that concept of "finding out" was a set in stone choice when it was in beta, to fuel this "You are tiny in this world" / "Fear of the unkown" rpg but nowadays with these ass pull of upds they just make it unbearably a chore to find out wtv shit show they cooked up
"No Handholding" only really works when the game's gameplay is simplistic enough that the player can guess and be right about what they need to do at a glimpse. Only example I've played is Cruelty Squad, where you see a guy with a big target on him and you'd probably guess you need to kill him.
at this point hes not a dev, hes the owner "Also if it wasn't apparent, I'm not really that involved with the scripting side of the game anymore, that's mostly on @Hikari_Yami , @shurawei and @PepperDime " "I just handle some management and a lot of the game's planning and concepting alongside @Matrodeus , so forward bug fixes and such to the scripters Mostly cause me and bird stepped away to work on other games, although I still plan out a lot of the stuff for AL"
My favorite thing nuova did was when he accidently wiped like half of everyone's inventory while trying to fix a dupe glitch and his reply to the community being upset all their legit gear that took hours to farm got deleted was saying "Was probably duped anyway" and no one got reimbursed
a day before that i had grinded a week for constantly trading my way up from nothing to get b2 gear. after that bs reset ive never and will never touch the game again unless it gets new ownership or devs. nuova sucks major ass as a person in general too.
The Eclipse community is basically just ‘’We hang around stupid people so we look smart in comparison’’ because most of us have common sense. Eclipse makes videos on games with stupid communities, gets ragebait, his fanbase laughs at the idiots and then Eclipse makes a ddos video. I love it.
If yall watched his top 10 games video, his number one was Breath of the Wild, which has the player spend the majority of their time exploring the open world
Eclipse! You clearly haven't considered that maybe, just maybe the entire script for the game is written in such a way that moving the tutorial NPC will completely nuke everything and Arcane Lineage will never work again.
Are people this biased to their favorite youtuber that they have to take the same opinion as the youtuber to feel like they're contributing to an argument? How about you play rogue lineage and find out the game has NO Tutorial and all the info is on a wiki, with rogue lineage every eclipse stan would have a temper tantrum because they lack the basic skills to find things out on their own
Eclipse, no matter how discouraged you are, please continue to make these videos. There needs to be someone holding these games accountable for their horrible design, and despite only doing this for money, you still somehow keep your morals intact. You're a legend, never quit please!

Eclipse, I would like to talk some more about Nuova and his.. "personality" I was helping donating stuff to the trello team (the trello team probably doesnt know it tho since i gave them to a friend who was a friend of a trello staff member) The donating stuff went towards the mark obtainment. The first 3 days saw people wiping WEEKS of progress to try and get marks. There is an item in game called "echo shard" which require you to beat the hardest boss in the game, called Metrom's Vessel, to obtain. The boss is pretty much impossible to do if you didnt spend AT LEAST 200 hours into the game and spent over 1k robux to get slots and race rerolls. Now guess what people felt when these echo shards and many more stuff that is just as rare, was lost because Nuova didnt feel like he wanted to patch a bug, or even admit there was a bug. Mark obtainment is a whole different story. You need to donate like 50 artifacts which are 1% drops for each TIER of the mark (you get wiped after every tier btw) and thats just the first mark. The second mark is the most broken shit in the game that can deal half of the final boss health in 1 turn with little setup. So basically, if you didnt spend at the very least, 400 hours into the game, you aint getting even ACCEPTED into the party to fight the final boss. There was many complaints about this in suggestions. Getting to the last boss was impossible without being carried by a very rich friend in trade market pretty much. And guess what Nuova said to these complains? "The testers beat it, skill issue". Yeah, the testers that get unlimited lives and can edit their own builds beat the final boss, and now Nuova is using it as excuse to justify the final boss being unavailable for 99% of the player base. I mentioned it in your AL video already, but I will say it again. The early stages of your progression in AL isnt NEARLY as big of an issue as the late stages.
400 hours is like 10-20 100% runs of BoTW, which is insane. I dont think you should ever be REQUIRED to spend 400+ hours JUST to beat a game ONE TIME. I’ve tried to play arcane lineage, but the new player experience is so awful that I stopped about 5 hours in, and for reference, I hated (and still hate) deepwoken, but I at least can enjoy it with friends and can somewhat enjoy the game playing alone. The fact that nouva basically says “fuck you” or “skill issue” to every single problem the game has isn’t helping either. I also hate the fact that you’re basically required to play on the highest difficulty to get good loot (unless this isn’t true) is also extremely retarded to me. Also, I find nouvas response to the final boss hilarious “Ah, yes, my testers who have unlimited lives and can recreate their builds mid playthrough beat this boss, so the reason these regular ass people can’t beat it has to be skill issue 🤓.” Thats the funniest shit to me 😭😭😭
@@thatoneelkcaribou6251 You know whats funny? The game has a total of 15 super classes, there is a lot of variety to them and their gameplay. However, the balancing is absolutely shit. If you went hexer (the debuffer class), you wont get accepted for any boss except the first boss. You like one class? Too bad, if you didnt go the 4 meta classes (Paladin, Elementalist, Berserker and Saint), you cant do the final boss and you will probably not even be accepted for the bosses before it.
"So basically, if you didnt spend at the very least, 400 hours into the game, you aint getting even ACCEPTED into the party to fight the final boss." I feel bad for the people who spent that much time on a roblox game of all things, and it's not even a somewhat decent roblox game.
can't wait to hear about a roblox dev's entire meltdown over someone just talking about their game edit: hilarious how he tries to compare his directionless game to elden ring in any capacity when elden ring not only has a tutorial but the grace sites (checkpoints/spawn points) literally point you in the direction you should go...
@@Thyfunidogethe dev literally got pressed and even said eclipse "lacks critical thinking", if that doesn't sound like a meltdown to you then idk what is. ntm the community of the game has a lot of people who literally admit to just using outside sources while playing the game which shows how tone deaf the developer is... edit: this is assuming you directed that at my comment specifically, if you were just speaking in general then mb for being defensive
Ok I’m actually upset at the “same thing as campfires in deepwoken” like campfires aren’t universally represented as safe spaces or places to save in like… a billion popular games! The entire soul series (an obvious major inspiration for Deepwoken) and like every other RPG ever have them as either integral game mechanics or put them all over safe zones! (I honestly think it’s probably not that there is a high number of games that have it but instead a few really popular games that do, but still it’s like basic gaming rule #5 campfire=safe)
They're children who have devoted their entire life to Roblox, of course they wouldn't play any other RPG, or any other good one off the platform at least.
@@therealbugmanta3187 I feel like they should still know tho. Like, I haven’t played the souls games (skill issue) but I still know that bonfires are the whole thing the first three are about lol. It’s just kinda upsetting that someone wouldn’t even try to watch or play other games like that :/
@@muckyesyesindisguise3854 Yes, the children don't know anything but Roblox, this is common knowledge in most games. I find it funny that we used to tell people to hop off fortnite, but now they have to be begged to play because of the brain rot in Roblox they play each passing day.
What you said at the end of the video reminded me of when deepwoken RUclipsrs got mad when they started improving the new player experience and said “the game is becoming too easy”
the main thing with these kinds of games is that there’s an undeniable hook of getting information very little other people know about, but then they can abuse their advantage on people who don’t know how they got the stuff that they do, which does nothing but promote toxicity and gatekeeping that can end up killing a game entirely. everyone should be having fun, not just the top players who know more than the rest
I play Rogue Lineage, and recently Grimmkind (the only "active" developer remaining, bless him) has been adding a lot of quality of life updates. Among these he essentially halved the requirements for every ultra class and made playing the game generally less tedious. And when this dropped I saw a concerning amount of players saying the game is too easy now. (You still need a minimum of 30 PLAYER kills for the average chaotic ultra) It is absolutely insane to me how people gatekeep games like this despite actively struggling to progress themselves. (It is a common sentiment that solo progression is impossible since 2022)
@@hogless24 the rogue community often forget that in a game with only 3 lives, killing someone 30 times is insane, but well ofc they forget often times they only kill an alt 1 million times, they dont actually play the game (neither the devs)
@@hugopereira4212 True. I have played the game for ~4-5 years now, and I have only met a small handful of people who have solo progressed harder ultras than spy, druid, and Sigil Knight commander (2 of which require 0 kills/rots...). On the note of going to a carpet to talk to a goofy ball to level up, they have to be stupid to expect people to not use a wiki. Like if leveling up is that complicated, I'm automatically going to assume that everything else is going to be needlessly confusing. So if I have to play a grind fest with permadeath AND convoluted mechanics, its insane to think I'm not going to look up the answers just to get the full experience. And on that note, no hand holding CAN work. Think of Darkwood, a game that can be hard to control, has almost no explanations, and you are almost guaranteed to make mistakes that can end up lethal. But it works because you dont have to invest several hours to learn about each danger and mechanic. It works so well because you are allowed to die and not lose everything, allowing you to have the satisfaction of learning how to counter or avoid the danger in the future. Even with permadeath it can work, but only if the runs are short enough to where you can do multiple in a day so that you can properly learn about what you did wrong. (Lets not forget that no hand holding doesn't mean no tutorial. And on that note you should never be directionless, no hand holding just means you aren't directly guided through the world. You should still know where to go and have a general sense of what to do, just not the specifics. Things like not having potion recipes are awful ways of implementing no hand holding since there is no way to learn them without blind trial and error. A good version would be introducing a never seen before monsters, and having to learn how to beat it. Often by learning from your mistakes you can learn how to dodge its attacks and harm it without bashing your head against a wall.) TLDR: No hand holding can work, but it has to fit the game and have purpose, not be a time waste that forces using a wiki.
I think one of the main reasons people oppose net positive change is a feeling of elitism You see this around games of the same type; since they've gotten through the game's pitfalls and flaws, seeing a newer player not have to deal with that, unless they benefit in some way, tends to get people annoyed and breed a sentiment that newer players are being "coddled"
I think they where going for a game where you just fuck around and find out, though even if they did a tutorial for things like leveling up and a few other things should be mandatory.
When i played deepwoken i always had 10 wiki pages open. You need the outside sources to do stuff like layer 2, duke quest or ferryman. One of these requires you to randomly find an island in the void sea and light campfires around a ritual thing.
@@kuronya3582correct but in defense of shitwoken: The game encourage you to “DIE” so you can unlock now origin, boons, attunements and buff for your next life while im lvl 20 in arcane lineage and a death is a death there no advantages to your next life so it is not a rogue game. A rogue game allow user to have a massive advantage of knowledge and ingame buff to your next life after the first one dead. I was devasted in my first death in Shitwoken (power 13) but I discovered that the game open a whole new path to it and those paths make the game way more fun than the first life. From your word I can tell you haven’t played Deepwoken, then I would recommend it for you, its really fun but the playerbase is one of the most toxic one out there. 😅
i literally found the berserker class trainer who is inside of a pitch black cave (and you also need to do a parkour WHILE being surrounded with darkness) before finding the tutorial npc 💀💀

Finding a youtuber and community that actually criticize this trend of Roblox devs thinking bad, purposefully frustrating game design = good and everyone who disagrees needs to git gud is a breath of fresh air
Recently found your channel and it's great; finally seeing someone who actually criticizes Roblox games like these is refreshing.. and I'm surprised I didn't find channel sooner. Keep up the great work [and I like your other content too, obviously].
True but also there is a spell early in the game and a NPC that tells you where to go afterward. DS2 on the other hand, even though I love it. It's game design is trash ngl.
Every game developer can say, "It's your fault." It takes a real game developer to say, "It's my fault." That's why we don't see it often, they don't want to realize that if players are going to a wiki to figure out the game, and it's a majority, then YOU didn't make in game resources available to them. Now I play tons of elden ring, and my first few playthroughs I play by myself and explore, and then I use the wiki to come up with cool builds, never did I have to go to the elden ring wiki to figure out how to equip my flasks, or how to craft, or where to level up. It was for specific items that would buff me a certain way and combine to make a cool build. Eclipse isn't fighting wikis overall, he's fighting for games to explain their most basic mechanics which would allow you to play, I could sit my mom in front of elden ring and she'd eventually make it through, if I sat her in front of any of these roblox games she'd have no idea what's going on, and I wouldn't be able to help her because it's not intuitive and it's not explained.
I love everytime u put The legend of zelda soundtracks into the videos. i always get so excited, just like a little child telling their mom "mommy mommy, look theres legend of zelda music!!!11!!1!!!"
Hi! I think your video brought up some great points, and this one too. I do enjoy the game but it definitely has some flaws, and my standards are low anyways A tutorial is a standard for any game, I'd rather have too many tutorials than 0 for a game filled with many things and large maps. I don't think smaller games such as the mentioned isaac or dead cells need too many tutorials since they're mostly small game with simple controls (also they HAVE a tutorial, isaac tells you the controls at the very least, imagine booting up the game and having to search up how to use a bomb) and the tutorial NPC doesnt even give much in AL, some basic info and a quest to kill 3 slimes (which you cant even take if you're level 4 or above) Needing to check the wiki for every simple task is also a bad thing, like did you know enemies have resistances to attacks? Well thats because you need to specifically go the beastmaster subclass and kill enemies with the mark move to THEN view their stats in your book which you cannot view if you're not the beastmaster class AND it resets if you permanently die. No tutorials for a large RPG just leaves the player thinking "what am i supposed to do?" "What are these people talking about?" "What am I doing wrong?" I wouldn't mind if for, let's say potion brewing, you'd get a notebook that lets you mark down potion recipes you find, perhaps from enemies who leave scattered pages such as the thieves and cursed corpses. For those who want fun turn based RPGs that dont require you to search up a ton of stuff I'd reccomend a few - Paper mario: The thousand year door (remake out soon so there you go) - Bug fables - Adventure story (hey! this one is on roblox and actually gives you a tutorial! sadly discontinued but it has good mileage either way) - Final fantasy 7 (as mentioned in the video) - The mario and luigi series (my favourite is dream team :) ) It's not a crime to enjoy a flawed game. It's not a crime to dislike a good game. It's ok to listen to the flaws of your favorite games and go "Yea, actually, this COULD be improved" and it's ok to listen to all the good things of a game and go "That sounds nice but it's not for me." That's about all I have to say for now, have a good day sir.
I would classify this in the checklist game genre. I really like these types of games where you go in the wiki search for something and spend the next 5 hours getting materials to acquire it, my most played games are terraria and risk of rain 2 and for terraria half my time on the game is on mod wikis and stuff like that, people who plays these games dont play them for anything but grinding for materials to get stronger with a guide. (for arcane lineage) the gameplay is mid the world SUCKS the story isnt a thing but the grinding is half fun its not just lvl up repeatedly and get new moves you can do things in different orders, you can get new weapons, and you can make unbalanced to shit builds with a bunch of trial and error. i will say its not the best game in this genre but it gets the job done.
Honestly I feel like a lot of the time in Roblox games that want advanced system they are kinda forced to make shitty tutorials or not tell a lot about the game because Roblox doesn’t really allow those type of resources (cut scenes that explain stuff, etc)
If anybody has not noticed yet. Eclipse on one of his ynas mentioned how breath of the wild is his favorite game ever only second to tears off the kingdom which are open world exploration games.
Major correct, "rogue-like" is in reference to a game that allows you to get power ups and tools that will help you in the next life Rogue lineage was a rogue like because you were able to get edits for your character. Every other game on Roblox thinks a "rogue-like" is a perma death game with pvp, i cant even explain how many time ive seen rogue like slapped on a game that is more a adventure pvp. So how does the game being a rogue like excuse the lack of tutorials? Rogue like doesnt = hard game, rogue like = creating a new character with powers or abilities from your old characters Binding of Issac Cult of the lamb All rogue likes with digestable tutorials.
Rogue like is just a perma death game. Rogue lite is a game with "meta progression" as in when you die you can get stuff to make your next life better. The term rogue like used to be more about those turn based games where you fight enemies and get loot and stuff to beat some final boss but now its practically anything with perma death and some random aspect
They think giving the players basic and must-know information about the mechanics of the game is "hand-holding" and now they resorted to throwing you blind in a game without even the slightest clue on what to do and call it a day
Roblox “rogue likes” misuse the genre name serially. Most of the time when I see a “rogue like” it’s a boring uninspired rogue lineage clone with terrible game design excused by their chosen game “genre”.
Elden ring has a tutorial and literally explains all the basics, and the graces literally show u an arrow on how to progress the story i don't think the dev has played the game at all💀💀
There are like 5 classess 1 of them being a base class hidden throught a parkour so badly done that it feels like you are getting punished for wanting to get that class
@astrocus9547 you mean people enjoy objectively badly made games that are too lazy to help new players get through and enjoy it? I don't doubt that, but don't you think that it can be hard AND be easy enough to get into? Like Castlevania or Elden Ring?
Things a trello should be used for - Update logs, and current update progress - Planned features - Update roadmaps - Listing bugs Things you should NOT use a trello for - literally everything else
I mean, not really. It's not the trello or wiki's fault for giving information. They have their place. I'd argue wikidiver games still have their own place, for example, Terraria. Arcane lineage is just INSANELY reliant on them. There's 0 fun you can have without using the wiki. Even in Terraria you can still progress through pre-hardmode and still have some fun without the wiki. You should at least be able to go through the beginning stages of a game without consulting the wiki.
@@ramon1500 Im not saying it’s a trello’s fault, it’s nice SOMEWHERE has this info, im saying literally everything else should be an ingame resource. You can find every terraria crafting recipe without using a wiki, it’s called the guide npc. You can also find every single drop rate, from the bestiary. Wikis should never be necessary to find ingame mechanics in any situation. However, update logs aren’t ingame mechanics, so I personally see them as fine. I played through terraria many times without ever consulting a wiki, because there was no need to.
@@Mortomi "Literally everything else" is a bit excessive don't you think? Even the terraria beastiary and guide doesn't have information on which biome chest does this accessory spawn in or even how to summon the Wall of Flesh and Duke Fishron. Just telling basic or essential information is enough, there no need for such intense detail. Having that much detail wouldn't even work in some genres of games. To have everything in the wiki be in-game also is an unbelievably demanding task and defeats the whole purpose of there being wikis.
@@ramon1500 yes, it does in fact defeat the whole purpose of the wiki. my point is, that’s a good thing. also the guide literally does tell you about the wall of flesh???? it’s one of his messages, he literally says you need to sacrifice something. and, to top that, he even says "I've heard reports of a very strange worm in the underground mushroom fields. I wonder if it would be any good as bait?" You’re just wrong. Literally just wrong. And, just as the guide does, you don’t need an exact description of everything present at a moment’s notice in a game. An offhand npc comment about a puzzle, a percentage rarity below the item you obtained when you get it, a hint of how to summon a boss people would miss, or literally anything but out of game resources.
Exactly The game takes literally 0 initiative to even START YOU OFF that's not "not handholding" That's just throwing you into the game with literally nothing Seriously do you mfs not watch the video before yapping whatever garbage comes out of your mouth? 16:34 He literally addresses this, and let me address this again THERE SHOULD BE A PROPER TUTORIAL A new player has NO CLUE as to what is going on in the game. SERIOUSLY. Make your NPC BE SUPER HIGHLIGHTED and use common sense and keep them CLOSE TO THE PLAYER'S STARTING SPAWN(which is done but there is NO INDICATION???? WTF????), that isn't handholding if you're gonna make that argument, that's literally basic common sense Even then, why not FORCE a tutorial? Why the hell would you use some random unnamed npc instead of actually forcing a tutorial out at the very start? Also THE TUTORIAL NPC SPAWNS BEHIND YOU???? BAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAH
The no hand holding thing makes sense, just phrased terribly. It's to influence exploring and blind playthroughs to truly experience the world as intended. This is my opinion , but a linear experience that tells you verbatim where to go is just a tad bit boring. (Think Elden Ring, probably alot cooler if you don't watch guides to lead you. No tutorial is silly tho)
The thing is that in AL the map is very barren and big for no reason, and the enemy encounter is annoying while exploring, so finding a guide to the place you need to go is just the natural thing to do. Which it really shouldn’t be
@@isnotbaldeagle4580 I absolutely agree. Every time I go into the dessert area, I wonder how empty the map would look if the fog effect were to be removed.
So about the wiki game problem and lack of handholding. A game I didn't finish yet at the point of writing this but plan to finish, is the platformer masterpiece called Hollow Knight. Hollow knight is a game that gives you NO INFORMATION about anything the map has for you, any type of information about the world and its story is hidden around it and gives you total freedom to explore, the game not only encourages but forces you to explore to progress, but doesn't leave you defenseless either, it gives you pretty early all the knowledge about the basic movement and attacks, when unlocking abilities it shows you what they do and how to use them, and you can always see them on the menu, because everything is shown for you there. A core mechanic on Hollow Knight is an npc that appears everytime you discover a new area, he spawns on specific locations selling you the map for said area, you can find him trough the whistle sound he makes and papers scattered making a trail to him, the map though is imcomplete most of the time, but when exploring areas the map doesn't show you, and then going back to a bench (the equivalent to a bonfire in darksouls) it will show you the areas you explored, and also paths you didn't take, showing you areas you still need to explore, he can also leave the are he originally appears in if you leave the area without buying the map, if that's the case there is a little card on the ground saying that the map for the area can be found on a shop you unlock after buying a few maps from him, shop which you can find on dirtmouth (the starting city on the map), so my point is, hollow knight expects you to discover things for yourself, but doesn't just leave you with no information, there is an enemy encyclopedia in the game that doesn't give you any stats about the enemies, because that's something your not meant to know, you can figure it out by yourself by battling the enemies, the encyclopedia is merely a lore thing. Hollow knight also has a funneling effect, making you sometimes stuck without being able to progress much, further forcing you to explore every little area of the map to be able to progress on another note, the opposite can also happen, where a barrier can be avoided by exploring all the areas around it, and finding a different route for the same destination, per example there was a barrier that i need an specific skill to pass trough, but when i finally did get the skill and want to explore there, i already explored there before by taking an alternative route instead, which also made me overpowered for that part of the game. Hollow Knight is better playing without spoilers or a wiki, the game benefits from the unknown like a metroidvania should be, even when asking advice for my friend which already finished the game, i only wanted tips instead of blatant spoilers, like how do i unlock this door, because as you might expect, you can still get stuck not knowing where to go, but i still recommend not throwing away the surprise factor of everything you do. Conclusion : (And also forcing myself to stop talking about this game i love) Hollow Knight is proof that little handholding does not mean bad game design, all games can benefit from not giving you any information at all apart from basics, which most games on roblox just ignore, i know it's a bit of a stretch to compare roblox games to an actual masterpiece of game design (on my opinion), but considering how many games on roblox take this design philosophy of expecting you to explore, yet not giving you anything to work with, even though they have multiple perfect formulas already built and developed in the games industry, and not using anything about it, it's like they tried remaking it from memory. And even though there are games that do learn from it, they still don't implement it fully, peroxide per example forces you into a tutorial upon joining the game for the first time, and it's actually pretty decent! It tells you about combat, movement, stats (which aren't points based like blox fruit) ranks and everything! Aaaand then you are thrown into the world with no further information about the game, roblox devs never truly learn at the end of the day. And we are left waiting on a game that doesn't force you to use a wiki/trello or friends to guide you trough the early game.
True and i love hollow knight. Its just that because of how hollow knight is map is designed, Hallownest is mostly linear and thats why it is easy to know where to go and where to look. Arcane Lineage on the other hand is an open world with a horrendously made town called Caldera that gives you no direction whatsoever. Theres a path in the front, back, left, right. It leaves the player confused on where to go. Most corners of the map are empty and youre technically stuck near cities leaving no room for exploration whatsoever due to the risk of being attacked and losing lives.
Could you start linking the video you're using for the ddos? I didn't see you play this rogue game but this video got me interested in watching it (yeah I can search it up which is what I'm bouta do but a link would be helpful thx)
Arcane lineage was minorly inspired by rogue lineage which you should probably know from deepwoken had no hand holding at all but there is an npc literally right next to the mat’s that tells you what its used for (and I think how to do it but if not it should be in the games description)
I think, the first thing, when i spawn, when playing new game, is to look around. Yes, the tutorial npc should be in front of you, but its strange that you just ran into the town.
Im not sure if eclipe has ever played the steam game "Elite Dangerous," but i feel like this game is a great comparison to the wiki/trello games on roblox. Hey my comment is on a DDOS episode! and im not the stupid. Thanks for responding to my comment Eclipse, and I also did not know there was a tutorial npc.
I get why people think deepwoken is a “rougelike” the only difference is that it’s open world but this game does have permadeath and a funky little echo thing that lets you get some benefits for how good your previous life was.
so are you telling me that the Trello team, the ones in charge to distribute the game's information accurately, have to figure said information on their fucking own? the owner hates hand holding so much that he refuses to help his own team, hilarious.
The trello afaik is community run in its entirety, there is no "official" trello because the owner had is head so far up his own ass he wants people to mindless try things over and over with no direction until 1 person figures it out, and then it gets put online and now obviously everyone has that info

Eclipse, I would like to talk some more about Nuova and his.. "personality"
I was helping donating stuff to the trello team (the trello team probably doesnt know it tho since i gave them to a friend who was a friend of a trello staff member)
The donating stuff went towards the mark obtainment.
Also, I find nouvas response to the final boss hilarious
“Ah, yes, my testers who have unlimited lives and can recreate their builds mid playthrough beat this boss, so the reason these regular ass people can’t beat it has to be skill issue 🤓.” Thats the funniest shit to me 😭😭😭
@@thatoneelkcaribou6251shitty ass owner doesnt know that his testers are privileged as hell to beat the game

What you said at the end of the video reminded me of when deepwoken RUclipsrs got mad when they started improving the new player experience and said “the game is becoming too easy”
aint no way they said that
the main thing with these kinds of games is that there’s an undeniable hook of getting information very little other people know about, but then they can abuse their advantage on people who don’t know how they got the stuff that they do, which does nothing but promote toxicity and gatekeeping that can end up killing a game entirely.
everyone should be having fun, not just the top players who know more than the rest

Often by learning from your mistakes you can learn how to dodge its attacks and harm it without bashing your head against a wall.)
TLDR: No hand holding can work, but it has to fit the game and have purpose, not be a time waste that forces using a wiki.
Take the binding of Isaac for example
this video made the owner reflect on himself and said that next update will be looking forward to theese problems.
Doubt
I think one of the main reasons people oppose net positive change is a feeling of elitism
You see this around games of the same type; since they've gotten through the game's pitfalls and flaws, seeing a newer player not have to deal with that, unless they benefit in some way, tends to get people annoyed and breed a sentiment that newer players are being "coddled"
I think they where going for a game where you just fuck around and find out, though even if they did a tutorial for things like leveling up and a few other things should be mandatory.
that works for some games, but definitely not this one

“I consume… people are going to sound-board it.”
Eclipse… that’s all they need

Hi! I think your video brought up some great points, and this one too.
I do enjoy the game but it definitely has some flaws, and my standards are low anyways
A tutorial is a standard for any game, I'd rather have too many tutorials than 0 for a game filled with many things and large maps. I don't think smaller games such as the mentioned isaac or dead cells need too many tutorials since they're mostly small game with simple controls (also they HAVE a tutorial, isaac tells you the controls at the very least, imagine booting up the game and having to search up how to use a bomb) and the tutorial NPC doesnt even give much in AL, some basic info and a quest to kill 3 slimes (which you cant even take if you're level 4 or above)
Needing to check the wiki for every simple task is also a bad thing, like did you know enemies have resistances to attacks? Well thats because you need to specifically go the beastmaster subclass and kill enemies with the mark move to THEN view their stats in your book which you cannot view if you're not the beastmaster class AND it resets if you permanently die.
No tutorials for a large RPG just leaves the player thinking "what am i supposed to do?" "What are these people talking about?" "What am I doing wrong?"
I wouldn't mind if for, let's say potion brewing, you'd get a notebook that lets you mark down potion recipes you find, perhaps from enemies who leave scattered pages such as the thieves and cursed corpses.
For those who want fun turn based RPGs that dont require you to search up a ton of stuff I'd reccomend a few
- Paper mario: The thousand year door (remake out soon so there you go)
- Bug fables
- Adventure story (hey! this one is on roblox and actually gives you a tutorial! sadly discontinued but it has good mileage either way)
- Final fantasy 7 (as mentioned in the video)
- The mario and luigi series (my favourite is dream team :) )
It's not a crime to enjoy a flawed game. It's not a crime to dislike a good game. It's ok to listen to the flaws of your favorite games and go "Yea, actually, this COULD be improved" and it's ok to listen to all the good things of a game and go "That sounds nice but it's not for me."
That's about all I have to say for now, have a good day sir.

Major correct, "rogue-like" is in reference to a game that allows you to get power ups and tools that will help you in the next life
Rogue lineage was a rogue like because you were able to get edits for your character. Every other game on Roblox thinks a "rogue-like" is a perma death game with pvp, i cant even explain how many time ive seen rogue like slapped on a game that is more a adventure pvp.
So how does the game being a rogue like excuse the lack of tutorials? Rogue like doesnt = hard game, rogue like = creating a new character with powers or abilities from your old characters
Binding of Issac
Cult of the lamb
All rogue likes with digestable tutorials.
They think giving the players basic and must-know information about the mechanics of the game is "hand-holding" and now they resorted to throwing you blind in a game without even the slightest clue on what to do and call it a day
@@maqvy cause everyone knows that the most fun way to learn is to just push buttons and see what happens
Roblox “rogue likes” misuse the genre name serially. Most of the time when I see a “rogue like” it’s a boring uninspired rogue lineage clone with terrible game design excused by their chosen game “genre”.
rogue lineage was never a roguelike, not a good one at least
eclipse sure does have some angry video game nerd energy, he's quite based
Elden ring has a tutorial and literally explains all the basics, and the graces literally show u an arrow on how to progress the story i don't think the dev has played the game at all💀💀
There are like 5 classess 1 of them being a base class hidden throught a parkour so badly done that it feels like you are getting punished for wanting to get that class

DDOS in this title really feels like it's saying "DDOS attack" until i realized i am the daily dose of stupid
No handholding games is so fucking stupid, It's like EVENY Roblox JoJo game FUCKING EVER, JUST MAKE A TUTORIAL NPC ITS NOT FUCKING HARD.
Its a type of game that many enjoy, if you cannot overcome the trial it creates, dont play it and go play another game.
@astrocus9547 you mean people enjoy objectively badly made games that are too lazy to help new players get through and enjoy it? I don't doubt that, but don't you think that it can be hard AND be easy enough to get into? Like Castlevania or Elden Ring?
10:45 im pretty sure i saw a "fix game pls" and "0 IQ" written in reactions.
Things a trello should be used for
- Update logs, and current update progress
- Planned features
- Update roadmaps
- Listing bugs
Things you should NOT use a trello for
- literally everything else
@@Mortomi
"Literally everything else" is a bit excessive don't you think?
An offhand npc comment about a puzzle, a percentage rarity below the item you obtained when you get it, a hint of how to summon a boss people would miss, or literally anything but out of game resources.
eclipse really went from the quest board npc to the doctor without seeing the tutorial npc...
Exactly
The game takes literally 0 initiative to even START YOU OFF that's not "not handholding" That's just throwing you into the game with literally nothing
Seriously do you mfs not watch the video before yapping whatever garbage comes out of your mouth? 16:34 He literally addresses this, and let me address this again
THERE
SHOULD
BE
A
PROPER
TUTORIAL
A new player has NO CLUE as to what is going on in the game. SERIOUSLY. Make your NPC BE SUPER HIGHLIGHTED and use common sense and keep them CLOSE TO THE PLAYER'S STARTING SPAWN(which is done but there is NO INDICATION???? WTF????), that isn't handholding if you're gonna make that argument, that's literally basic common sense
Even then, why not FORCE a tutorial?
When information is purposely hidden from player is bad design and elden ring is clearest example of that
So about the wiki game problem and lack of handholding.
Classic Nuova. platform battles better trust.
For some reason, even though it's quite simple, your shirt looks extra cool :)

Arcane lineage was minorly inspired by rogue lineage which you should probably know from deepwoken had no hand holding at all but there is an npc literally right next to the mat’s that tells you what its used for (and I think how to do it but if not it should be in the games description)
game devs when they get fair criticism (its obviously all hate)
I think, the first thing, when i spawn, when playing new game, is to look around. Yes, the tutorial npc should be in front of you, but its strange that you just ran into the town.

Im not sure if eclipe has ever played the steam game "Elite Dangerous," but i feel like this game is a great comparison to the wiki/trello games on roblox. Elite Dangerous is a space exploration game made to replicate the Milky Way galaxy and to play this game without at least 5 tabs of third-party websites open is straight-up masochim. These games that dont at least explain the end goal or onjective of the game really need to step it up.

Hey my comment is on a DDOS episode! and im not the stupid. Thanks for responding to my comment Eclipse, and I also did not know there was a tutorial npc.
i played the game without wiki and it took an entire day to figure out how to play
was to lazy to open a trello or wiki
I get why people think deepwoken is a “rougelike” the only difference is that it’s open world but this game does have permadeath and a funky little echo thing that lets you get some benefits for how good your previous life was.
Eclipse should have a video of what his ideal game needs so he can put it in the i card every single video.
He should try out "pilgrammed" I don't know if he made a video for it already or acknowledge the game yet but I wanna see his reaction on the game lol
