Thanks for saving me some money. I have one comment though. When you are saying turn the driver's side headlight ignitor "toward" the engine block, I understood this to mean turn the thing clockwise it the assembly, i.e., turning the top of the igniter toward the engine. After trying this unsuccessfully for a while and doing some other research I realized that you turn it counter clockwise, as in "lefty-loosie." It came right out. (I'm assuming from your accent that this is not a right-hand-drive car :-)) It went back in the same way. Also, I didn't get the Philips OEM, as the price was eye-watering. Hey Dave glad it helped, yes counter clock wise to get it out and clock wise to install, the connector to the back of the bulb is on the bottom hence the reason I stated "turn the connector toward the engine block" but same idea. Desperate and lacking the necessary hand strength I made a "wrench" to rotate the assembly into place. It worked. Here's the video: ruclips.net/video/7qsIFVEPBH8/видео.html
Hi J Watkins, thank you for this video. I tried this replacement myself on my 2014 CC according to your video and everything worked quite well. However the headlights now show a very uneven illumination, meaning that there is no sharp border between light and dark and in the illumated area there are spots that are brighter and darker. What could I have done wrong in the installation of the new bulbs? Maybe I didn't rotate them far enough? The bulbs were very hard to loosen and tighten and I was glad that I could even rotate them around 10 or 15 degrees.
Carefully try to rotate new bulb into original bulb orientation, I would also recommend you remove the new bulb first and make sure you didn't pull/wrap one of the small gauge black servo wires around the bulb. Those are the only things that come to mind.
Mine is the same set up but has a hose clamp (got a decent video of it) and it does not simply twist off. I'm 100% sure I need to remove that clamp before I can twist. At this point, considering just letting a vw mechanic deal with it...

The daytime running led on the left side of my cc don’t work and I can’t find a video anywhere which explains this and everyone keeps telling my I just need to replace the whole light
Hey Rondel, I have not had this issue yet but I did take a quick look at it. From what I can tell the ribbon cable (red arrows) as shown in the images below are not serviceable. The only way you will be able to replace the entire LED DRL assembly is to separate the headlight assembly from the lens. That said; it might still be worth checking to ensure something didn’t work itself loose. The ribbon cable connections can be seen after you remove the dust covers on the rear of the headlight and the cornering bulb service dust cover. I tried to get you the best images I could as it’s a very tight space. If you are able to check all the ribbon cable connections and the DRL is still not working, then you will need to replace the entire headlight assembly which even used can be on the pricey side. Another option would be to explore how to disable LED DRL, via dealer of VAGCOM. Best of luck. photos.app.goo.gl/hNKZ232fisP5HaU99

I have not removed one, but it's on the bottom of the headlight assembly below the HID bulb held in with 3 screws. Driver side might be able to get at via wheel well. As for passenger side I bet the washer bottle is in the way, might require a bumper pull to remove headlight assembly.

Sagzy 83 if your unable to get it, sometimes it can be tricky/corroded, you will have to remove bumper in order to get the whole headlight assembly out to service the bulb.
Hi! So we replaced the low beam lights today and the low beam lights still will NOT come on. Both of the low beam lights were replaced. The car still reads the error message on the dash “check right (and left) low beam lights”. What should we do? Also how many sets of low beams on the car? Is there something on the car that needs to be reset once the lights are replaced?
There is only one set of low beam lights on a car if I am understanding the question correctly. I would recommend you consult your owners manual for the fuse location for the headlights. Start by checking that the fuses are good.
@@carlibell9288since the fuses are good, few things that come to mind, ensure the headlight harness is connected all the way. Ensure the wire harness is connected to the back of the bulb and ballast. It's used to start the bulb, an ignitor provides a high-voltage pulse to the bulb, which creates a spark, ionizing xenon gas in the bulb, creating a conducting tunnel between the tungsten electrodes at the top and bottom of the glass tube.
