  • Part 2 explores Abraham Lincoln's initial hesitancy towards drastic action against slavery before his eventual commitment to abolition through the Emancipation Proclamation. Lincoln's leadership during the Civil War is examined, from the Battle of Chancellorsville to the pivotal Battle of Gettysburg, culminating in the iconic Gettysburg Address.
The four-part documentary series 'Lincoln' originally airing on ABC in 1992, is a visually captivating portrayal of the revered president that draws from the Meserve-Kunhardt Collection, a treasure trove of Civil War-era photography. With a score by Alan Menken, it features an all-star cast of voices, including James Earl Jones, Jason Robards, and Glenn Close.

The great second part of the greatest Lincoln documentary ever made :)
Lincoln always had it in him; his brilliance, his inner strength, his unique capacity for kindness, but it was the Presidency where he was able to use these exceptional human faculties to lead and guide the United States through its gravest crisis, and help make it a freer and more just nation than ever before. I'm glad beyond words that this exquisite series exists.

I myself do wish the dates of history spoken would also have been written. I am for the most part a visual learner and have somewhat of a photographic memory.
    All together incredible documentary series.

Very well done series. But I can't help but think of Darth Vader in the back of my mind with the narration.
