Floor's parents were present during this concert. So proud of their little girl ♥️🙏🤘
I mean she's a pretty big girl haha but yeh its very wholesome.
There also was Dutch television, the tv program "Klasgenoten" (Classmates) at the concert. Floor met her classmates from The Rock Academy again. When she watched the interview with her parents at the show, she was crying, really moved by the love and pride of her parents. They talked about Floor having a burn-out when her band After Forever stopped. She was just recovering when Nightwish called her if she could fill in for Anette. It was like a dream coming true for Floor, and well, the rest is history.

tarja fans, floor does not always go operatic simply because she was not hired by tuomass to replicate tarja's vocals. She goes operatic when the song absolutely calls for it or when wants to put her own twist to a song. (examples stargazers, kinslayer). The versatility she brings to the band should honestly be more appreciated. In documentary, floor stated that Sleeping Sun was one her favorites and she has been pushing to perform it live.

Plenty of them. I can list a lot of them just by listening to how she butcher the Tarja era songs with her own belting and tone changes (which messes up the songs) to trying to "improve" the Anette era songs with her own "takes", which falls flat for the most part. So no thank you.

As a music student myself I can assure you that our so called experience means absolutely nothing when it comes to personal taste, even professionals state their opinions based on their personal taste and that's 100% valid. I can say that I think Tarja's deep and dark voice fits a lot better to the ancient atmosphere of the original song, but that's MY personal taste which is not going to change just because some RUclipsr who's also a vocal coach doesn't share my opinion. And I don't think it's fair for anyone to diminish anyone's work in order to make the other look better as most people will keep doing for a long as Nightwish exists.
I thank Tuomas Holopainen for this amazing music.

Yep. On occasion of the 1999 total eclipse. I listened to this song via headphones when the eclipse occurred. One of my all-time favorite memories.

I was a singer/songwriter for many years, and can tell you factually that Sleeping Sun is an extremely difficult song to sing. The cadence, the pitch, the delivery and the emotion have to all come together using tremendous vocal control. Floor absolutely nails this. Love her.
Compare Floor and Tarja. Both sung Sleeping Sun. Or compare both at Deep Silence Complete and you get easily the difference.

Wow...I never thought anyone could come close to Tarja singing this song, but Floor nailed it in this performance. This was a song I always played for my late wife, Anne. One more for you, my love. Listen in the Great Mystery.
Sometimes, singer-songwriters are wrong about which versions the public love of even their own recorded songs or prefered versions of songs.
So much warmer and so much more feeling that Tarja's version!

Same here...never heard of Floor or Nightwish. But did some research and I am embarrassed to say that somewhere along the way I must have seen Floor with After Forever at Dauwpop as well as Appelpop but didn't notice it 😱 probably thought it was just a lot of noise and screaming, being a soul-fan.
But...after her performance at "beste zangers" I can honestly say she is truly amazing! She won me over....big time!

Leuk dat je door het programma in aanraking bent gekomen met de muziek van Nightwish. Ik vind het een verfrissend concept, omdat ik door het programma ook meer (h)erkenning heb gekregen voor Nederlandse artiesten waar ik doorgaans niet naar luister :).
Anne Sophie dit Nr was het eerste Nr wat ik van dr hoorde en was meteen verkocht ❤️ en nu ze eindelijk bekend is in Nederland vind ik echt geweldig voor Floor maar zeker ook voor Nightwish zulke mooie nrs hebben ze 😍net als Élan ook zo,n geweldig Nr en Floor is echt de beste zangeres ter wereld ........ vind ik tenminste

@@abstracting6411 You can be fan of Tarja and totally understand, see and hear how good Floor is , also Nightwish is a metal band because of Tarja, it had to be acoustic band in the beginning but they decided to do metal to support Tarjas bigger voice , also Tarja was the reason why soo many of us started to listen Nightwish in the first place, I have never been big fan of lineup changes, for me the bestb bands are the ones without any lineup changes, its totally normal to miss Tarja sometimes, she had also very magical stage presence and amazing operatic style of singing , its normal that many people feel sentimental

I just wish she will decide to start Revamp again. As great as she is with Nightwish, Tuomas wasn't able to exploit her full potential in EFMB.
Deepdarkmidnight D.D.M. Yeah, EFMB has a lot of songs on it that I love, but given that Floor is the most metal singer they have had, I guess I was just hoping for something like a combination of nightwish, after forever, with a touch of iron maiden thrown in.

Who sings this song better, Tarja or Floor? The answer is yes. Also yes this is a different drummer. How can one choose between Tarja and Floor. They are both beautiful women with incredible voices. Just enjoy. Dont bother to compare. It defeats the feeling of the song.

I'm not very familiar with this band, but there doesn't seem to be a downside to who is singing. I do adore Tarja in Nemo and Floor (I presume?) in Story time.
Nightwish didn't die when Tarja left. That's ridiculous.
Floor is a very good singer, but Tarja was just stupendous. The power, tone and accuracy of her singing was breathtaking, but she's gone. No point looking back.
As for beauty: sorry, but tattoos and piercings are a complete turn off for me, so Tarja wins that too.

The thing is you can't compare Tarja and Floor's takes on this song, as they approached them from different directions. Floor went with a moodier 'rock' sound that was haunting and enveloping. Tarja's take on it was a soulful power ballad that hit you like a truck, in a good way. Each brought their skills and both did a fantastic performance. Go NW!

She is Dutch, but back in the viking days a large part of the Netherlands was Frisia (the coastline up to the south west of Denmark) Frisians trade with the vikings and even some of them went on board for their raides. I have to be carefull with this historical stuff because the rest of scandinavia are gonna use this LOL (If she have some Frisian blood, she is our sister)

Floor is a pretty exceptional vocalist to be sure, but there are thousands of singers who make for better live performances than those in the studio. It's quite common in music for live versions to exceed the studio performances, outwith some genres where live performance isn't really focal point. Expand your horizons and learn to appreciate the wider world of music rather than worshipping a small handful of entities so much that you exclude yourself from so much beyond that, missing out on everything else. Your joy will only increase for the small effort it takes to appreciate the wider wonderful world of music.
This song always brings me tears. It doesn’t remind me of anything sad or anything. I’m just blown away by the beauty of the song itself

After listening to all Nightwish tunes - I feel Floor has so much of a broader range and complete mastery of her voice - she gives me goosebumps when she nails those notes!
She's probably the only woman on planet earth who has a voice range from grunge all the way to opera! 😆

I never heard of Floor Jansen before I saw a program on Dutch TV where Floor was singing different kinds of songs. I am 52 years old and how it is possible that I never heard of Floor Jansen and Nightwish. Woooooow. They are so incredible. Floor is really AMAZING.
When I watch this, I can´t help but think Floor has the best voice this world has ever heard. I´m sure there are vocalists with bigger ranges etc. but I´m talking about how beautiful her voice is. It is literally perfect and moves me every time I hear her. It doesn´t matter if it´s soft or heavy, spanish,dutch or english. Growling, belting or operatic. She is the definition of beauty in this world. She is divine and so down to earth at the same time. So grateful I clicked on Ghost love score at Wacken 2013. It was a real inflection point in my life. I just feel grateful and happy each day now.

@@MikkoRantalainen Thanks Mikko, I absolutely love Tarja too. Over the past year and 4 months since discovering Nightwish I have literally listened to Nightwish several hours everyday. I took a trip to Kitee and met Tuomas Holopainen and I told him how grateful I was that he changed my life with his music. Every single song and performance of Nightwish in the +25yr history is pure gold to me.

'The original vocalist'? Talk about being damned by faint praise. Yes, she got to be too big for her boots but like it or not, without the 'original vocalist' Nightwish would either be history, or playing small clubs today.

I thought I was immune but no - I have goosebumps and started to cry. This song has always been one of my favourite, and the live versions are so impressive. Both Tarja and Floor make tear up, and I won't have it any other way.

Her English is a bit more fluent which accentuates the words much better than Tarja’s original since her English was as clear back then. I met her last year and it’s gotten much standard.

Andre; I got you all beat I'm 75 Nightwish just bumped Rammstien down to my second favorite metal band, just discovered them in January of 18,took a while to get the different front women figured out, Tarja and Annette were both good but I've never heard any one even come close to Floor her voice quality and range are unbelievable one hell of a fantastic band, hope they out last me!
Nightwish is a national treasure for Finland and a tourist asset to Europe. I just discovered them days ago, and already I plan to travel to Europe to see a 1-3 live shows. I want to be part of the crowd that really loves Nightwish, and the European live videos seem to show that should be in Europe. Of course, I'll also see them if they come to my area.
They're coming to South America next year :-)

I love it when artists only use half of their potential. It leaves a very large pool of skill to craft every little detail not only to superhuman perfection but to put it beyond that, back to human, back to relatable, back to personal. When Floor sings, I do not only hear a great singer, she makes it sound as if the innermost part of my soul is singing. And I know that many other people feel the same way. This way she connects us to people we have never met.
