im glad they decided to do a redemption for fuyuhiko instead of hiyoko, personally he was a much better character anyways and a redemption made more sense since he was partly to blame for peko and mahirus death, where as hiyoko was just annoying but never really did anything major for a redemption to be as impactfull as fuyuhikos. although i must say if she was in the class trial where mikan was revealed as the killer that would have been pretty interesting lol
In my opinion, Fuyuhiko felt like Kiyotaka done right. It's not that I hate Kiyotaka, I actually think he's a great character, it just feels like Kiyotaka had so much potential that was missed out on. In my opinion, Kiyotaka should have lived alot longer than he did so that way we could see him develop and cope with the death of his best friends Chihiro and Mondo. He could even have been one of the survivors of Danganronpa 1 in place of someone else. It just feels like when he died, it threw the majority of chapter 2 out the window. If I were to go back and give Kodaka advice, I would have had Kiyotaka live longer (likely replace Byakuya as one of the survivors). Not saying Kodaka is bad, in fact I find him to be a brilliant man. Meanwhile Fuyuhiko lived alot longer and we got to see him develop after the death of a close friend of his. It felt like Fuyuhiko grew as a character and we got to see him mature over time. Something that I wished was done with Kiyotaka but I digress. Overall I think Fuyuhiko is a great character because I was able to see him grow and develop as a character throughout the game. While Kiyotaka is a great character too, he was the character with the most missed potential to me. But hey that's just my opinion, take it as you will.
I completely agree with this, and I have even discussed that Taka's death was pointless in Celeste's murder. It's kinda sad to see him die, and for no reason too. However, even though it's subtle, Byakuya's tightened resolve due to Sakura's sacrifice was great character devolpment. Since Byakuya was the only one who outwardly acted like he would kill someone, the impact on him is much more than the others. In replacement of Byakuya, I think Taka should've replaced Yasuhiro, maybe. Not that I hate Yasuhiro, he serves as really good comic relief, but that's all he really is. Comic relief. He doesn't have much of a character arc, so replacing him with someone who would have a HUGE character arc just makes sense.

Well to me his character was supposed be how much of an effect the killing game can have on someone. Because Ishimaru is so heartbroken about Mondo’s death you can see somewhat of heartbreak which the only other case of this in the first game is Hina
@Amelia McCloy she is meamt to be a less interesting side character since not all 16 students can be important. In fact I'd say she is one of the best non-important side characters in Danganronpa. Compare her to Akane, Hijoko, Yasuhiro or Himiko and I'd say she definitely does a better job at being not important, but still likeable.
After learning that Natsumi gave Fuyuhiko the position of heir, I got kinda confused. Why does she talk like she's not as good as him in the 3rd (or so) ep of Zetsubou side? She said stuff like how she wanted to become someone worthy of being called Fuyuhiko's relative. Why would she say that if she was in a more powerful position initially?
some people are just like that. they don’t realize they are good enough, or they have super high expectations for themselves, and its hard to convince them to think otherwise. and of course, even if someone _is_ in a more powerful position, rank means nothing if you’re “weaker” or “less” in many other aspects. not to say she is; she just might think she is. and that’s exactly what an inferiority complex is.
I think it is because she want to have her big brother have the role since she admire him so much and don’t want to take away he role. And she sadly like her brother don’t have any other ultimate talent other than ultimate Yakuza so she rather be by his side

Great analysis as always! Maybe I'm biased cause Fuyuhiko is one of my favorite characters, but still, I really like this one! I'm also very excited for the Hiyoko analysis. She's one of my favorite characters as well. I know a lot of people hate her for how she acts, but I honestly like her character as a whole. I don't try to redeem characters with backstory, but I really like to find the psychological explanations for characters actions, and I think Hiyoko's backstory ties into how she came to be who she is really well. She's a pretty morally grey character in my eyes, and I like that. I also think her and Mikan are a good parallel to each other, in the fact both show different reactions to being bullied, Mikan becoming extremely submissive, and learning to hate herself, and Hiyoko basically using it as something to pity herself, and to give herself a reason she treats people so badly. Which isn't uncommon, as bullying often starts in kids who were bullied themselves, thinking people deserve the pain and suffering they received, at least, I think that's a good interpretation of part of the reason she is so mean to others. But I definitely think there's so much more to her character then that. So I'm really hyped for that analysis.

No, not necessarily. Yasuhiro makes a point in THH that he is actually 21 amongst his class; he repeated multiple grades, so he very well could’ve been in school when Natsuki enrolled
We don't know if he repeated grades inside or outside of HPA. It's also possible they didn't meet at Hope's Peak. Maybe she went to him for fortunetelling.

Fuyuhiko is one of my favorite characters from DR2 because of his development. He was basically reverse Chihiro but much better handled in how he dealt with his softer side. Not only that but he also became a much more enjoyable character once we got to see him allowing himself to be soft

Nooo I wanted a byakuya one :c I love him. He's actually a complex character and people are just judgmental about the fact he's a prick. But if you do his activities, you learn why he's like that and over time he ends up showing little points.
Kamden Vera yeah, people always compare him with Fuyuhiko or Sonia, but he actually worked hard to get to the top so he could be heir, but Fuyuhiko and Sonia only earned it because of their blood. (Nothing against the both of them)
This was really good! The only thing I don't really agree with is whether Fuyuhiko's feelings towards Peko are romantic or not. I don't care about the ship per se, I feel neutral about it and even enjoy some of its contents, but stating that what Fuyuhiko felt about Peko was romantic has no base when it comes to canon statements/reactions in the game. As we can see throughout the whole game, he had a particular connection with his sister. As you explained in the video, she was meant to be the heiress, since she was the best at being a Yakuza, but decided to hand over that charge in order to give it to Fuyuhiko. Despite feeling under all the pressure that came from being her replacement, he still loves her and even goes as far as to threaten the ones who killed her, and swear revenge in her name. He clearly cared and loved her deeply, but as a sister. When he talks about Peko, and about how he wants her to feel like she's an equal to him (because he truly believes so) he never refers to her as anything else than that. He also mentions and it's reinforced by the illustration you showed at 5:27 that they grew up together, since they were babies. If his feelings could have been more than platonic, that I don't know, but I think he would have reacted the same way if the executed one were his sister. That said, I don't mean anything bad or harmful with this? just stating my pov about the matter since you stated that Fuyuhiko was confessing his love for Peko when the time for her execution came. I found it odd since his reaction for her sister and their connection resembled more sibling-like than romantic. But then again!! this was really good and I love your videos and would love to see more of these character analysis soon!! Hopefully more from drv3 characters since there are a LOT I like and would be delighted by almost any choice. Sorry for the long comment lol and also sorry if I made any mistake!! english is not my first language. Fuyuhiko is one of my favorite characters from DR2 because of his development. He was basically reverse Chihiro but much better handled in how he dealt with his softer side. Not only that but he also became a much more enjoyable character once we got to see him allowing himself to be soft

I love him. He's actually a complex character and people are just judgmental about the fact he's a prick. But if you do his activities, you learn why he's like that and over time he ends up showing little points.
Kamden Vera yeah, people always compare him with Fuyuhiko or Sonia, but he actually worked hard to get to the top so he could be heir, but Fuyuhiko and Sonia only earned it because of their blood. (Nothing against the both of them)

This was really good! The only thing I don't really agree with is whether Fuyuhiko's feelings towards Peko are romantic or not. I don't care about the ship per se, I feel neutral about it and even enjoy some of its contents, but stating that what Fuyuhiko felt about Peko was romantic has no base when it comes to canon statements/reactions in the game.
As we can see throughout the whole game, he had a particular connection with his sister. As you explained in the video, she was meant to be the heiress, since she was the best at being a Yakuza, but decided to hand over that charge in order to give it to Fuyuhiko. Despite feeling under all the pressure that came from being her replacement, he still loves her and even goes as far as to threaten the ones who killed her, and swear revenge in her name. He clearly cared and loved her deeply, but as a sister.
When he talks about Peko, and about how he wants her to feel like she's an equal to him (because he truly believes so) he never refers to her as anything else than that. He also mentions and it's reinforced by the illustration you showed at 5:27 that they grew up together, since they were babies. If his feelings could have been more than platonic, that I don't know, but I think he would have reacted the same way if the executed one were his sister. That said, I don't mean anything bad or harmful with this? just stating my pov about the matter since you stated that Fuyuhiko was confessing his love for Peko when the time for her execution came. I found it odd since his reaction for her sister and their connection resembled more sibling-like than romantic.
But then again!! this was really good and I love your videos and would love to see more of these character analysis soon!! Hopefully more from drv3 characters since there are a LOT I like and would be delighted by almost any choice. Sorry for the long comment lol and also sorry if I made any mistake!! english is not my first language. I hope I made my point clearly enough and I hope this doesn't come off as angry/rude! sorry if that happens, not my intention.
