I saw a bull shark completely breach here back in April this year, easily 6ft. A local fisherman snagged one in his net too, he showed me the pic and it wasn't small. Food for days.
at Balian that happened the day after our last visit there. A young Russian surfer girl was bit on the foot by a small shark and she suffered some very nasty lacerations. She is currently recovering after her surgery here in Bali. Nb: This would be the 6th shark / surfer incident at this break over the last 7-8 years.
@@masonsmith858 I hear it was in april. I'm so scared of this place now, I saw myself a 6" bullshark 1,5 month ago, so in rainy saison. And an Italian guy was biten 1 week after, nothing so bad but fuck... I canceled 5 nights there. Ok they are here more in rainy season because of the river wich make drop the water of the spot when it rained hard a little more higher and bring fishes too. But sharks are always here... More I was staying there more I heard things from local people. No magic, it's one of the area and so few people in the water... People in just don't know...
The water around the river exit is very murky and it’s pretty common to see one jump or splash when chasing fish. I think all but one shark attacks in Bali were at Balian. None fatal, just a bite and swim off.
@@rawsurfing Ah, ok. Here in the OBX of North Carolina the Bull Shark is the one that causes most fatalities. They are big and continue attacking. Here they are bad news.
considering there is a small chance getting bitten by the bully, I'm more confident put my plastic paddel down in the murky water then my arm, a great sup spot compare to other bali gems, ahh I miss Balian!
It happened the morning I arrived and it was two days later when the police put up a warning sign tin the local language hat no foreigners could read 😂
@@rawsurfing I used to live in Hawaii (Maui and Kauai) and they seriously downplay the shark attacks there. Bad for tourism, I guess. If there’s an attack in Hawaii then it’s always Tiger sharks.
Love this place. Can be spooky on the right during wet season with bull sharks

Ive seen massive ones cruising thru, that river mouth and the dark water hides them
What a fun looking wave, left or right is long and so playful for ripping. Liked and subscribed🤙🏽🍻
I love Balian. So fun! Will be in Bali in August but not sure if I can make it to there unfortunately

@@TheMikicaroll I was there a while ago in July and I could see large ones there whilst I surfed, very silty water even in dry season.
Lol, no one mention the shark attacks
Former "hidden paradise" , soon to be crowded like the rest of the island ..... more bull sharks required.
It’s already crowded.
@@joeblow1942 thanks for letting me know .....
2018 was so quiet a couple of people then surfed it solo.
Is 100% paradise 100% shredd
The "odd bull shark attack"? Really?
