I'm glad that I found your video. I started to make press on nails hopefully to sell. However, when I tried to put them on, they always pop off after a few days. I've tried a few different glues now and the results were the same. From your video, you mentioned don't use hard gel(I didn't know there was hard gel and regular gel) so that the tips can be more flexible. Now, I think that's the key. I found mine was more stiff and I have a big gap in between. I forced it down and they don't feel very comfortable. I will try again tomorrow without the basecoat to see if it was any different. Yes, that's exactly right!for the longest lasting results they need to take the shape of your natural nail and if they're too stiff, they won't do that. Even if you use lots of gel polish and topcoat, depending on the brand, they will be too stiff. You can join our Facebook group ( I think it's in the description) for more helpful hints! Xo

Awesome video! One question though, when applying to the natural nail…. Pressing them on - even though they’re cured and shiny do they get smudged at all from pressing down?
@donnapeterson1945 hi! Great question :) if you're using regular nail varnish, they need to dry for 24 to 48 hours to minimise the risk of smudging, as you do have to press hard and long. They will be 100% dry for certain after 48hrs though. If you're using gel polish, there is no risk of smudging them, just let them cool down before applying them. ( which only takes 10 seconds or so, so really no risk there ) have fun xx

Are you customizing for people? I never even thought of making press ons for people, but it sounds like a fun creative way to make money.
Hi! Yes, if you are only making ten nails the customer has to measure their nails ☺️ then you measure your tips and find the best match. There's another video explaining this in further detail here on my channel. You won't get rich selling press-ons, but it really is a fun way to earn some money !
Great vid. Must’ve watched it like thrice by now . Lol. I’m just a bit confused still. Most other utubers seem to be buffing their tips, applying primer, base coat and then painting them. Hiya 😊 some tips need buffing and base coat. These ones melt ever so slightly when wiped with acetone. They go sticky so you don't need base-coat or buffing. Hello! This is my second video I've watched and you've got my sub now so thank you for the content and being so helpful! I'm a beginner but I have a question about the files. You mentioned you use 180 for the first one, what about the block? I'm just trying to get my head around all the numbers and files 😜 thanks again!
Hey! Thanks for the support ❤️ Usually buffing blocks are 180 or 240. As long as it has some grit to it, it doesn't matter more than a personal preference 😀
Can you show us how to turn normal fake nails into press on nails. I wanna learn how to make them sticky without adhesive tabs because I have strict parents and I'm not allowed to wear fake nails :(
Onlt way to pur them on without adhesive tabs is with nail glue. The tabs ate reaaly easy to remove tho, just soak it in warm water witg soap and a lil bit of oil (like grape seed oil) for a while
Some people find it's enough to buff the nail rather than apply base coat. Some people just wipe it off with acetone. I recently had a problem with those Techniques. So now I buff, and use a base coat.
Thank you this helped.. My birthday is Friday and nails shops are closed so I have to do this😂.. But can I use any thing else if I don’t have blue tact
@alexiuhbram hiya. You can use whatever tips you want. They range in shapes and sizes as well as price. They've really gained popularity since creating this video so I'm sure there's a good selection available now : ) the ones in this video were most likely just the cheapest ones I could find on ebay!
I am not sure what stand you are referring to. I hold the nails with orange wood sticks. You can use fancy stands too. Search for fake nail tip stand and you should find something :)
Thelifeofmay this has happened to me too and what I have learned to do is to go a size up for every nail and I like to file down the sides a little bit not much at all but just enough so that once it shrinks down it wont be too big. I know this isn’t super helpful but I think when the plastic from the nail and the chemicals in the polishes almost like melts the plastic it is so weird lol but after doing this couple times you should get used to it. If you are worried about not having sizes the you can try to find a different brand of nails that runs their sizes bigger. I hope this was helpful! Have an amazing day!! 😊
Hi! I’ve just discovered your channel! I have a question… my full cover tips will curl and shrink under the lamp. How can I prevent or lessen it? Thank you!
Hi! That usually happens when I use products that are really hard like gel or acrylic. Topcoat has this effect as well. I try to keep the gel polish really thin, and the topcoat too. You could always size up the tips to compensate for the shrinking though.
Yes absolutely. It will last just as well. Make sure to allow each layer to fully dry, and leave them for atleast 24 hours after completing them before trying to apply them.
I just started making my own press on nails and I went and bought all kinds of full cover nail tips but I noticed a lot of them were soft gel tips and not plastic.. could I still use the soft gel tips like this?
@NightBorne2 hi 👋 yes those are fine. Lots of people prefer those type anyways as they are less likely to break, and mould to the natural nail easier. Have fun!
It's a personal preference. I prefer gel because you don't have to wait very long for it to dry. I have used regular polish in the past though as well!
I got these from Ali Express probably. This was filmed a long time ago so there are so many different kinds you could try now. I like these ones from amazon amzn.to/3TTjsxa
Hi love the blue sky a44 nail paint! Unfortunately can’t find it here in Canada, can you recommend another brand that might have a similar shade?? Thanks 😊
Hiya, while I am Canadian, I have never bought nail supplies in Canada so I really can't say. I dont even know of any Canadian brands off the top of my head. So sorry 😣
I have a question!! How does one go about attaching these to their natural nails? Say if you are a Gel-X or the dupe by beetles user, the glue must be light cured so how would this work?
Hi! Quick question. If i have a nail polish remover with acetone, can i just use that? I dont know if it willl work the same. And for nails like this, can you use normal bail polish and let it dry overnight, or do you need gel polish? Im a teenager on a budget, and I'd like to learn to paint my press-ons.
@Choaticsibling1111 hi! Yes, regular nail polish remover with acetone is fine :) regular nail polish is fine too, but it takes a while to dry. 24hrs is probably enough depending on how thick they are painted. The problem arises when you press down on the nail to apply it, if it's not 100% dry it will leave a fingerprint in the polish. I'd reccomend painting one extra nail, that you'll be able to test if it's completely dry without worrying about wrecking it :) have fun!
@@jhoelaanwood3295 I don't have one using glue, but the prep is the same. You need to make sure the pressons fit your nails as perfect as possible. Side note ... If they're too small and there is tension, they will pop off.
Lots of great info! Thank you. So yo prep your tips now you only use acetone to wipe and no buffing? Because buffing takes so much time lol. So glad to find your channel❤❤
Hi! My guess is that your application is still too thick, 2 layers of gel Polish with base and topcoat should only be a little thicker than a piece of paper. Some cheaper brands require many layers for full coverage though and then it is too thick. What brand are you using and how many layers?
Hi Courtney, I have followed your instructions but I once I put the nails under the uv lamp (60 s) they have all come out sticky. I cured them longer, but it made no difference. Do you know why this may have happened?
Hiya. Yup, I do. That's called the inhibition layer and its totally normal. You just leave it if its a color layer. If your topcoat is sticky, just wipe it off with isopropyl alcohol. Xx
Hi I just ordered some things off Amazon to try to start doing my own press ons , I do not have gel polish now to start off , how many layers do u think I should put on each nail with the regular polish? I seen u answer another's that u have to let them sit for 24 hrs maybe more .
@@Daisydaisy17 thank you. Good luck on your journey! Please share any pics of your nails with me. Tag me on Instagram or post them in my custom tip support group on Facebook 😍
@nilima_sasmal I'm not sure, usually it is the topcoat that gives the nails a shiny or matte finish. The polish you're using on the plastic nails should have the same effect that they have on natural nails. I have seen air dry polishes behave erratically when used in extreme hot or cold temperatures. I'd reccomend applying a shiny Topcoat over the nails. If you're using gel polish, it is normal for the colors to be matte ( if you wipe them off after curing, which you wouldn't normally do. ) it is the topcoat that provides the shine. Sorry if that didn't help at all, it's hard to advise without knowing the specifics of the brand and technique that you're using. X
Couple things you can do to trouble shoot. First, use a base coat. Also, buff the nails and wipe with acetone before painting. Also make sure they're not too close to the lights when your curing them, if you're using a stand. They might not fully cure and will peel.
@@NailswithCourtneyCrosbie Thank you. I do use a base coat and buff and wipe with acetone. I use a regular curing lamp. Maybe I'm painting them too thick?

Hey! Thanks for the support ❤️
Usually buffing blocks are 180 or 240. As long as it has some grit to it, it doesn't matter more than a personal preference 😀
Excellent info! How long do you cure each time?
Thanks. 60 seconds in LED xo
@@NailswithCourtneyCrosbie THANKS!
does the type of polish you use matter? like if i used regular nail polish would it stay on? or do i need to use gel polish?
You can use nail varnish. But it needs ro dry 24 hours or more before handling. Use a base and topcoat as well.
Hi! Very helpful video. Can the nails be filed and shaped once they are put or will that ruin the edge of the nails?
Thanks! The polish might chip if you shape them after painting them. You can put them on and then paint them tho Xo
*me using gum*
Does it work lmao?
@Acorn_Spirit I would also like to know
Can you show us how to turn normal fake nails into press on nails. I wanna learn how to make them sticky without adhesive tabs because I have strict parents and I'm not allowed to wear fake nails :(
Onlt way to pur them on without adhesive tabs is with nail glue. The tabs ate reaaly easy to remove tho, just soak it in warm water witg soap and a lil bit of oil (like grape seed oil) for a while
There really is no other way than to use glue. sorry :(
Hi do you need to apply a base coat before the gel polish colour?
Some people find it's enough to buff the nail rather than apply base coat. Some people just wipe it off with acetone. I recently had a problem with those Techniques. So now I buff, and use a base coat.
Thank you this helped.. My birthday is Friday and nails shops are closed so I have to do this😂.. But can I use any thing else if I don’t have blue tact
Happy birthday!! must be about your birthday again this year! hope you can get your nails done this time :)
can I just use any tips? I don't see a link to the tips used nor did I hear you talk about where you got them but I may have missed that part.
@alexiuhbram hiya. You can use whatever tips you want. They range in shapes and sizes as well as price. They've really gained popularity since creating this video so I'm sure there's a good selection available now : ) the ones in this video were most likely just the cheapest ones I could find on ebay!
@@NailswithCourtneyCrosbie thank you so much!
How can i remove nail paint from the clear press on nails?
If the paint is cured, you will need to file it off.x
What the stand thing called?
I am not sure what stand you are referring to. I hold the nails with orange wood sticks. You can use fancy stands too. Search for fake nail tip stand and you should find something :)
I want to start my press on business, I been working on some nails but some tend to shrink, what am I doing wrong? Should I change the nail brand or?
Thelifeofmay this has happened to me too and what I have learned to do is to go a size up for every nail and I like to file down the sides a little bit not much at all but just enough so that once it shrinks down it wont be too big. I know this isn’t super helpful but I think when the plastic from the nail and the chemicals in the polishes almost like melts the plastic it is so weird lol but after doing this couple times you should get used to it. If you are worried about not having sizes the you can try to find a different brand of nails that runs their sizes bigger. I hope this was helpful! Have an amazing day!! 😊
Why didn’t u use a base coat, did acetone replace it?
Yea. Acetone makes these tips sticky and you don't need a base coat x
@@NailswithCourtneyCrosbie do you have to wipe off the sticky layer of the base coat after curing ( soak off gel) before applying gel polish??
@@manar7925 no you don't want to wipe that off. The only sticky layer you should wipe is the topcoat (if it has one) with isopropyl alcohol xo
@@NailswithCourtneyCrosbie thank you kindly!
Can I use a regular nail polish for press on nails for sell ? Will it stay on the polish? Or will they chipped ?
Yes absolutely. It will last just as well. Make sure to allow each layer to fully dry, and leave them for atleast 24 hours after completing them before trying to apply them.
I just started making my own press on nails and I went and bought all kinds of full cover nail tips but I noticed a lot of them were soft gel tips and not plastic.. could I still use the soft gel tips like this?
@NightBorne2 hi 👋 yes those are fine. Lots of people prefer those type anyways as they are less likely to break, and mould to the natural nail easier. Have fun!
@@NailswithCourtneyCrosbie Thank you so much!!!
Which are better, Gel nail polish or a regular nail polish?
It's a personal preference. I prefer gel because you don't have to wait very long for it to dry. I have used regular polish in the past though as well!
@@NailswithCourtneyCrosbie when it comes to long lasting color, which is better? Or is it the same?
Gel polish will last longer xo
Where do you buy these press on nails (before you paint them)??
I got these from Ali Express probably. This was filmed a long time ago so there are so many different kinds you could try now. I like these ones from amazon amzn.to/3TTjsxa
The small blue gem thingy with the magnetic black attachment...what are those called please? I need to order some but have no idea what to search up
Hey , search for nail tip holder. Or crystal nail tip holder. :)
So sorry 😣
@@NailswithCourtneyCrosbie that’s okay! Thanks for the reply anyway 😊
I have a question!! How does one go about attaching these to their natural nails? Say if you are a Gel-X or the dupe by beetles user, the glue must be light cured so how would this work?
You have to use air dry glue with these... Regular nail glue or tabs
Thanks Holly, I must have missed this comment xx
Do u not buff the inside of the press on x
No, I don't find it necessary. Xo
Do you have a video on how to prepp the nail ready for press ons myne never stay on
@@jhoelaanwood3295 I don't have one using glue, but the prep is the same.
Yes! No buffing needed. I'm so glad to just wipe with acetone. I was forever dropping the tips while buffing .
Nails with Courtney Crosbie Is that the same with all tips? With Apres tips too? Xx
@@vietbabyxo I've not used aprés tips before do I couldn't say for sure. Xo sorry
Where can I get those boxes? Want to do my press ons and put them in boxes for myself lol

Hello! When I try to paint press ons they always end up very thick even with thin layers do you know of a way I can fix this?
Hi! My guess is that your application is still too thick, 2 layers of gel Polish with base and topcoat should only be a little thicker than a piece of paper. Some cheaper brands require many layers for full coverage though and then it is too thick. What brand are you using and how many layers?
@@NailswithCourtneyCrosbie I use Lavender Violet usually around 2-3 layers
@@dontmindme1355 lavender violets isn't a terrible brand, you should be able to do thinner layers and still get coverage without the thickness.
How did you take the color out of the nail or did it already come with out it?
These ones come clear ☺️
Hi Courtney, I have followed your instructions but I once I put the nails under the uv lamp (60 s) they have all come out sticky. I cured them longer, but it made no difference. Do you know why this may have happened?
Hiya. Yup, I do. That's called the inhibition layer and its totally normal. You just leave it if its a color layer. If your topcoat is sticky, just wipe it off with isopropyl alcohol. Xx
@@NailswithCourtneyCrosbie, thank you so much Courtney. That makes sense. I'm going to try it again this afternoon :)
Hi I just ordered some things off Amazon to try to start doing my own press ons , I do not have gel polish now to start off , how many layers do u think I should put on each nail with the regular polish? I seen u answer another's that u have to let them sit for 24 hrs maybe more .
Hiya, usually 2 or 3 coats will be enough. Yes, Definitely let them dry for at least 24 hours! Also don't forget a top coat 😊
@@NailswithCourtneyCrosbie thank you 🥰 so much love the video an nails by the way cute 😍
@@Daisydaisy17 thank you. Good luck on your journey! Please share any pics of your nails with me. Tag me on Instagram or post them in my custom tip support group on Facebook 😍
Why all my glossy nail polishes are turning matte when I'm applying it on plastic nails
What nails do you use
usually just cheap ones from ali express.
Whenever I paint press ons, after a day or so the gel starts peeling off. Not sure what I am doing wrong
@@nicoleedgington859 yea maybe, try thinner coats xo
