Idk if Habib, Tracy or Greg actually do too much with answering questions/comments because they're all super busy. I'm sure some of them do once in awhile though. Just my thought lol.

Most of us that only do 10 piece sets either have our customers size their nails (with instructions for proper sizing), then send us their sizes in mm or we send out sizing kits (that's what I do) because custom 10 piece sets use less product and take less time than 20+ piece sets because a lot of people don't do 10 or 16, they do 20 or 24, but I've even seen 30 piece sets. All of my customers used a sizing kit to size their own nails, then sent me the sizes to write down in my notebook under their name and preference of shape/length. I have made one 24 piece set as a surprise Christmas gift for my customers friend, and I will never do that again. It took twice as much time and used twice as much product. They were beautiful and she fell in love with them, but never again. I will stick with sizing kits and 10 piece sets, only. 😬 This set is absolutely STUNNING though! 😍 Especially that glitter. Thank you for this! I have just ventured into creating press ons due to the pandemic. This was so informative and I really appreciate that. I’ve been struggling with my pricing but after watching this I now know what I should be charging. Thank you!
She's been a licensed nail tech for I think 20+ years, she also is a celebrity nail artist. So that's probably why she charges so much. Her work it out of this world. I don't know any regular JaneDoe who would pay that much for some press ons. LOL
@@nailedbyloreyou'd be surprised.. for a great quality, reusable set. I know a "regular Jane doe" press on nail business owner whose regular Jane Doe clients pay up to $225 for a set... so trust. People are buying them.
Blessed here is a breakdown but remember the cost of materials used makes a difference. I'm in the business too.. hope this helps.. don't let anyone discourage you. When determining how much to charge for your press-on nails business, there are several factors you should consider. Here's a breakdown of the key considerations: 1. Cost of Materials: Calculate the cost of the press-on nail kits, glue, nail polish, nail art decorations, and other supplies required to create your products. Consider the cost per set or per nail. 2. Labor and Time: Estimate the amount of time it takes to create a set of press-on nails, including preparation, application, and any additional nail art. Determine your desired hourly rate or the amount you would like to earn per set. 3. Business Expenses: Factor in your overhead costs, such as rent for your workspace, utilities, insurance, marketing, and any licensing fees. Divide these expenses by the number of sets you expect to sell to determine their impact on your pricing. 4. Competitor Analysis: Research other press-on nail businesses in your area or online to get an idea of the pricing range. Consider the quality of their products, their reputation, and the level of customization or uniqueness they offer. 5. Target Market: Determine your target audience and their willingness to pay. For example, if you're targeting a high-end clientele, you may be able to charge more for your press-on nails than if you're targeting a budget-conscious market. 6. Value-added Services: Consider offering additional services such as nail consultations, custom designs, or express shipping for an extra fee. These value-added services can justify higher prices. 7. Profit Margin: Decide on the profit margin you want to achieve. This percentage should cover your costs, labor, and provide a reasonable return on investment. Typically, profit margins range from 20% to 50%. Once you have considered these factors, you can calculate your pricing. Here's a simplified example: Let's say the cost of materials per set is $10, and it takes you an average of 1 hour to complete a set. If you want to earn $20 per hour, your labor cost would be $20. Let's assume your monthly business expenses are $500, and you plan to sell 20 sets per month. Total Cost per Set = Cost of Materials + Labor Cost + (Monthly Expenses ÷ Number of Sets) Total Cost per Set = $10 + $20 + ($500 ÷ 20) = $35 To determine your selling price, you could apply a profit margin of 30% to the total cost per set: Selling Price per Set = Total Cost per Set + (Total Cost per Set × Profit Margin) Selling Price per Set = $35 + ($35 × 0.30) = $45.50 Keep in mind that this is a simplified example, and you should adapt it to your specific circumstances and market conditions. Regularly review and adjust your pricing strategy as needed to remain competitive and profitable.
Seriously? Do you guys read minds? I was wondering about press-ons earlier today. I guess this just goes to show how in touch you are with your audience. Thanks Melissa! You are just amazing as usual 🤩❤ Keep 'em coming!
Love these! Perfect timing on the video, I was asked to make a custom set for a coworkers wedding and was looking for tips on how to create a thinner looking press on! Now just to master a French fade with acrylic and keep it thin 😳🤣
Great video! I'm glad you went through how much to charge. I'm in a nail group on FB and someone just asked this question. She had the same price range and a couple of women thought this range was outrageous. I wasn't sure so I didn't comment but now I'm getting ready to start selling customized tips! :)
Great video I recently started selling Press On Nails with the application kit included and wow 😯are my prices cheap for 20 tips. I need to raise them thanks for the advice really helps.
Cool. I’m pricing my sets accordingly. I only make 10 because almost every nail has art or includes multiple colors and/or 3D nail charms. Nothing is priced over $75 yet. I will most likely price the hand drawn nail art at $100 and up. Thanks so much for this video.
I hate seeing when girls charge $15-$20 for their press on sets! They take long! They take product & creativity! It’s definitely worth the price! Plus, as consumers we can reuse them. Charge, girl. It’s most deserved!
My only concern with encapsulating press-ons is that if someone has really flat nails the nails can’t be gently pushed to fit the nail bed shape if that makes sense? I try to keep the number of layers very low to keep the flexibility of the nail. Do you guys think it would make it easier for the nails to crack if I moved to more dimensional nails?? Thanks for the video, love you guys so much!!❤️
I choose to use gel because gel is flexible. Acrylic would be too hard. You could also size up when doing a dimensional nail if worried it won’t fit.😉🙌🏼💅🏻✨♥️
beautiful design loved this video. On the pricing I am worried if I charge a lot for my art that no one would buy them but dont want to sell them too cheap with the products I use being salon products gems etc. How would I go about this?
Honestly the price range I gave you as a guide. You could price them less if you would like. When you start seeing that encapsulation and extra stuff you’re doing takes more time you want to charge more. If you were just polishing them and doing something simple they would be less. Again charge what you’re comfortable with but don’t sell yourself short. 😉🙌🏼😊💅🏻✨♥️
@@mjaydelacruz8496 thanks for the info I think i tend to under sell myself and i think that its confidence issues that causes that i need to just take the step :0) xx
I always do 16 as well for my custom sets, now if I make a non custom set I only do 10 for the simple fact that 1 I don’t know for sure when or if they will sell and 2 so I’m not wasting any product and time.. if that makes since lol. But, thank you so much for your video.. always extremely helpful and informative!!!
When I tried this technique the first time, I learned that I needed to make my nail my fake full cover nail to I started with, Fit my fingers perfectly but, after I went through the process and the nails were finished, they had shrunk A small amount and no longer fit my fingers properly they were too small! So I learned to go a little larger with your fake full cover nail tip and then go ahead and go through the process and when you’re finish the shrinking will bring it down to a more perfect fit. Plus do not Put the a lot of product or the end result will be a bulky nail!
Heya! Was the nail(s) shrinking due to nail art of some kind? I have noticed this myself and could not find much on YT in regards to shrinkage. Also the under base of the free edge/side walls curled in slightly and like a C shape. I wasn’t too sure if this was normal? I am not a nail tech btw. Just a interested, creative hobbyist. 🥰
Thank you so much 💝 I appreciate your time and help. I'm going to New Year gift myself with Young Nail products ‼️ what was the gel used to encapsulate?
These would be more for a very temporary set. If you/your client has an event or something for a day. They won’t hold up with repeated hand washing or if you use your hands a lot during the day. If you want longer wear but still temporary, applying them with glue may be a better option.
When you pre-design the nails, you need to make sure you are using colors/glitters that are somewhat translucent to let the light through. If you are uncertain if they are translucent enough, you can always mix an iridescent glitter to break up the color. This will allow the light through without changing the color.
My mouth fell to the floor when she said $95-$195…. I’m a nail tech in West Virginia and the price for a full set of acrylics is typically $45-$65 WHERE DO I NEED TO MOVE TO CHARGE THIS! For that set I would charge $65
Dude. I would never pay 195 for nails. I do press ons for myself and it’s gonna stay that way 😂. All the products I buy last me months to years. Lol I would rather spend 300 per year on nail supplies and do them myself like I have been.
I appreciate this so much!! Couldn’t have come at a better time. I can’t do my moms nails anymore for safety/health reasons and what not. I’ve been wanting to make her some press on nails but didn’t know how to go about it. Like how would she apply it to her nails? Nail glue would suffice? Won’t the nail kinda tilt downward? This has hindered me from doing this. If it points down and what she could use to adhere them. She didn’t get her annual Christmas sets done from me this year 😖 sucks.
Im just starting my business&I've charged 30$ .. I'm definitely gonna charge higher , because I didn't think about making the pieces higher for encapsulating! Thank you!!
You can give it a try, but it may not give you an even matte look across the whole nail. Also, keep in mind that too much acetone can start to weaken the gel polish. For a matte top, if you'd prefer to not buff, we do have a matte finish top coat. www.youngnails.com/products/1-3-oz-matte-top-coat?_pos=1&_sid=9ea06b34b&_ss=r
@youngnails Any suggestion on the sticky tabs for the nails I thought I heard her say double-sided sticky tape. I’m just worried that especially people with flat nail beds won’t be able to use the sticky tabs
This is a big concern for me as I want to make press one but won’t the nails just point downwards since the tape or glue isn’t the same thickness of acrylic or gel. Those fill in the space to make the right apex.
Yes I feel the same way but fir some reason it’s wrkink because the press ins are on fire right now. I heard they’re supposed to put glue on their nails and also on the enhancement I guess that helps build it up a little bit I’m not sure though but I feel you on the Apex it is higher and the thought of them pointing downwards came across my mind to what’s going to happen is I’m gonna have to try to sit on myself so I can experience the craze. Btw maybe we are over thinking things lol
My question is, when using full cover tips, at least for myself, I need filler in between the gap and the nail bed. I’ve seen a lot of people use gels or such that need to be cured. But gel underneath can’t cure if the tip is painted, right? So would you just put a bunch of glue in the well and on the nail bed and hold it until it dries?
When you pre-design the nails, you need to make sure you are using colors/glitters that are somewhat translucent to let the light through. If you are uncertain if they are translucent enough, you can always mix an iridescent glitter to break up the color. This will allow the light through without changing the color.
Hi. I'm just starting press on nails. Can i just ask please, why do you put primer on the nails? Assuming bond is the same as primer, and also i didn't think to make 16 nails. Please can you tell me what are the sizes of the spare" nails" you make please. Thankyou ❤️
The spares are a thumb size she didn't originally pick, so two size 1's since the original thumb size she picked was a 2. Then she picked extra 4's & 5's since those are common sizes. We use protein bond to help ensure there isn't any chipping or peeling of the product on top of the full cover tips. We also use it on the natural nails to help adhere product when doing services.
@@youngnailsinc thankyou for replying. I know a lot of people buff the full cover tip then go straight in with the gel colour , or is it better to buff the full cover tip then use a base coat then go in with the gel colour? I'm not sure whether to use a primer or not. I only have primer, not a bonder. Thankyou ❤️
If the surface of the plastic is textured (filed) the gel polish should adhere well. However, if you have clients that have issues with chipping or wearing at the edges, you can apply a coat for extra durability.
I explain everything in the video. But I wiped the top of the Nail off is Swipe. It’s to takeoff the dispersion layer of the gel I used. That gel I used was Synergy Base Gel and Build Pink. 😊💅🏻✨♥️
I did not know to put another layer of protein bind before top coat 😮 Do you do that for every nail before top coat ( aside from glitter nails ) Is it a must ? Thank you !
Can someone explain to me what are press on nails. Are they like the ones you can by at lets say... primark with the glue and stuff? And you just personallize them with your nailart, acrylic or gel? Please help me out because in holland we have a lockdown so we can't do nails right now🥺
That’s another option for artificial enhancements. You could resell them at a time you’re shut down and can’t make money. You could also do it on a regular basis and make a living off as well. It all depends on what you enjoy doing most.🙌🏼😉😊💅🏻✨♥️
Some designs that are translucent or have enough transparent color/glitters in them will allow the light through and will be able to cure the Fiber Gel underneath. However, this design is created with darker, more opaque colors, so the light will not be able to get through to cure the Fiber Gel. Because of this, we do not recommend pre-designing and then applying these tips. We would apply the clear tips first and then do the design to ensure a full cure.
I make press ons for myself and I love glitters I got from YN because they are so cute but it’s sooooo hard to clean after. They don’t come off easily until I clean clean and clean.. I find one or two here and there throughout the next few days.. Any tips?
TY for this video and big fan of this channel!! I'm really curious why someone would pay for press ons from a professional vs drugstore? Ive always thought press ons looked fake, and don't understand why people would pay to get them at salons or DIY them. What am i missing?
When you purchase from a professional, the nails are custom shaped exactly for your nail shape & size, not just a one size fits all. Also, the design work/art is customized for each set, so they are one of a kind, not mass produced.
If you are wanting to re-use the press ons, we recommend using the sticky tabs to adhere them. They won't be as permanent as gluing on or adhering with gel, but it is the only way that won't damage the press ons or the natural nail.
So I sold my first set but I think they must have shrunk with all the gel Polish so now I have to make a new set for free which essentially I’m not making any money but I don’t mind cuz it’s my mistake but please hire to I get them to not shrink should I do them a size bigger?
If you are applying product over a set of press ons, they can constrict slightly when the product cures. The other thing you want to keep in mind is that when the nails are applied, the product (glue/gel/sticky tabs) they use to adhere them will take space on the nail surface. The thicker the adhesive, the tighter the nail will fit. So if you size the nail to fit perfectly, it may appear smaller when it is glued on. It is best to go slightly larger in size and if necessary, the client can customize them once they are on by filing slightly around the edges.
I created myself a set the other day and applied them yesterday...I did the dishes and noticed 5 nails were messed up. The gel peeled! My encapsulated glitter and my nail with foil peeled too. I used a tempered top coat for all, even to encapsulate. I'm so lost. This keeps happening and I spend so long designing the nails. I buff all sides, I used a base coat but usually I don't, I also add the top coat to all sides. Any advice? 😭😭😭😭Thank you
If you used a 180 grit or finer buffer, you may be making the surface too smooth for your product to adhere. Try using a 150 grit file or medium arbor band on your efile to remove the shine. You can also use a coat of Protein Bond after removing the shine for added adhesion.
@@youngnailsinc THANK YOU! I am pretty sure I used a finer buffer 🤦♀ I do have the protein bond but I only have added it to my natural nails. I will definitely follow these instructions for my next set...or current ones if they keep peeling Lol I appreciate your response and your videos! 🤎
It depends on the colors etc you've used to paint the nail. If they are darker colors, the light may not be able to get through the color to cure the gel underneath fully.
I would love to see Melissa do her own nails and how she perfects her shaping on herself with both acrylic and gel.

When determining how much to charge for your press-on nails business, there are several factors you should consider. Here's a breakdown of the key considerations:
Here's a simplified example:
Let's say the cost of materials per set is $10, and it takes you an average of 1 hour to complete a set. If you want to earn $20 per hour, your labor cost would be $20. Let's assume your monthly business expenses are $500, and you plan to sell 20 sets per month.
Total Cost per Set = Cost of Materials + Labor Cost + (Monthly Expenses ÷ Number of Sets)
Total Cost per Set = $10 + $20 + ($500 ÷ 20) = $35
To determine your selling price, you could apply a profit margin of 30% to the total cost per set:
Selling Price per Set = Total Cost per Set + (Total Cost per Set × Profit Margin)
Selling Price per Set = $35 + ($35 × 0.30) = $45.50
Keep in mind that this is a simplified example, and you should adapt it to your specific circumstances and market conditions. Regularly review and adjust your pricing strategy as needed to remain competitive and profitable.

Thanks you answered one of my questions right away. I've been thinking about making some to sell and wasn't sure about what sizes to do and how many.
Gorgeous!
Thank you!!
Great video and info 💖🎄
🙌🏼💅🏻✨♥️😊 Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this is perfect! Can this be done with acrylic also?
🤔🤔🤔 I mean, I don’t see why not 🤷♀️
It can be. I’ve seen two other you tubers do this.
It can be done however acrylic is a harder product with no flexibility. So they definitely feel different or I should say fit different
Awesome design again huni
😊😉💅🏻✨♥️ Thank you!!
Thank you guys so so so much for sharing this video. It's exactly what I was looking for. U guys are best 👍
And Merry Christmas to all of you 💝🎄🎅☃️
You’re welcome! Merry Christmas!! 🎄🎁🎅🏻☃️❄️✨

Thanks Melissa - great tips and advice 💕💕
Yayyy.... Amazing video! Thank you!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Your welcome!!
Beautiful nails!!!
@@mjaydelacruz8496 awesome, I wasn’t sure how flexible the overlay stayed!! Thanks for the reply Melissa, I adore your work!! Thanks for your help!🥰❤️
@@sydneymae4104 thank you! 🙏🏻 You are so welcome!! Merry Christmas!🙏🏻✝️♥️✨🎅🏻🎄🎁☃️❄️✨
beautiful design loved this video.
I love the color on Melissa's nails! 😍😍😍 I would love to know what products she used to get that gorgeous iridescent greige color. 😀
Thank you! I used Resolution Glitter. It was a limited addition I hope that you purchased it before Young Nails sold out of it!😉💅🏻♥️✨
@@mjaydelacruz8496 Unfortunately I didn't 😭 Do you ever plan to make it again? I'll definitely buy it if you do! 😍
@@OVRQT I’m not sure. I know they bring their limited additions in and out. They usually sell out fast.
Great topic, thanks
Wow beautiful 😍
Thank you!!
That’s cool!! 🙌🏼💅🏻♥️✨
Yesssss loving it

Build pink synergy gel 😊
Synergy Base also Synergy Pink Gel!😉
Love it
Nice set!
How long does the double sided sticky last for?
These would be more for a very temporary set. If you/your client has an event or something for a day. They won’t hold up with repeated hand washing or if you use your hands a lot during the day.
If you want longer wear but still temporary, applying them with glue may be a better option.
We want to see melissas shaping techniques!
I shape just like Tracy and Greg! We all have a different touch so our shapes come out a little different but we all use the same techniques!😉🙌🏼😊💅🏻✨♥️
Thank you for the videos keep them coming! I do have a question what double sided tape would you recommend? Thank you
You can nail tabs available on amazon.
Can you do gel x to bond the nail when it’s painted?
When you pre-design the nails, you need to make sure you are using colors/glitters that are somewhat translucent to let the light through. If you are uncertain if they are translucent enough, you can always mix an iridescent glitter to break up the color. This will allow the light through without changing the color.
My mouth fell to the floor when she said $95-$195…. I’m a nail tech in West Virginia and the price for a full set of acrylics is typically $45-$65 WHERE DO I NEED TO MOVE TO CHARGE THIS! For that set I would charge $65
You'll be surprised how expensive nails can be
Move to New York, Philly, Atlanta
Dude. I would never pay 195 for nails. I do press ons for myself and it’s gonna stay that way 😂. All the products I buy last me months to years. Lol I would rather spend 300 per year on nail supplies and do them myself like I have been.
California lol
I appreciate this so much!! Couldn’t have come at a better time. I can’t do my moms nails anymore for safety/health reasons and what not. I’ve been wanting to make her some press on nails but didn’t know how to go about it. Like how would she apply it to her nails? Nail glue would suffice? Won’t the nail kinda tilt downward? This has hindered me from doing this. If it points down and what she could use to adhere them. She didn’t get her annual Christmas sets done from me this year 😖 sucks.
Love this ♥️
I wanna know where she got her jacket I love her style!
Im just starting my business&I've charged 30$ .. I'm definitely gonna charge higher , because I didn't think about making the pieces higher for encapsulating! Thank you!!
Great job!! 🙌🏼😉😊♥️💅🏻✨
I just want to ask if we can use mild acetone swipe instead of buffing to make it matte?
Glue definitely works fast especially for a flat now bad.
Thankyou ❤️
@@Bexfashionandnails You don't need a base coat since the enhancement acts as a base.
What sizes do you use for a set of 16? Like what numbers do you Double up on?
Would it make any difference if I were to buff the press on and apply protein bond or just buff it and apply the polish ?
If the surface of the plastic is textured (filed) the gel polish should adhere well. However, if you have clients that have issues with chipping or wearing at the edges, you can apply a coat for extra durability.
What did she encapsulate with? It looked like she open something new and what did she wipe the nail with before filing?
I explain everything in the video. But I wiped the top of the Nail off is Swipe. It’s to takeoff the dispersion layer of the gel I used. That gel I used was Synergy Base Gel and Build Pink. 😊💅🏻✨♥️
@@mjaydelacruz8496 THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR CLARIFYING

I did not know to put another layer of protein bind before top coat 😮 Do you do that for every nail before top coat ( aside from glitter nails ) Is it a must ? Thank you !
We do this to help prevent chipping/peeling of our gel polish or gel top coat.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the video!! I would like to sell some nails but I don’t know what to do with the packaging.. any tips?😬
It all depends on what you enjoy doing most.🙌🏼😉😊💅🏻✨♥️
@@mjaydelacruz8496 thank you so much for responding! So press on nails are diffrent from the drug store nails with glue?
@@daniellanieuwkoop3773 they are a similar product. Young Nails are a far more better quality and fit! 😉 Also by far more current shapes to offer! 😊
@@mjaydelacruz8496 thank you i'm going to look around the young nails webshop😊
how would you remove these? If your client applies them with glue, would they have to be soaked off?
Can you put this design on with fiber gel ?
Will you guys end up making medium length full cover tips? Most of the people I make press ons for don't/can't wear nails this long
Are you using gel or plastic I’m ordering my full coverage nails idk which one to get. What’s your recommendation
Our full cover tips are plastic.
@@youngnailsinc thx
Any tip on how to remove the press ons without damaging the set?
The trending soak off in water and oil never works for me.
Thank you.
Can you use UV gel glue to attach the tips after they've been painted?
It depends on the colors etc you've used to paint the nail. If they are darker colors, the light may not be able to get through the color to cure the gel underneath fully.
Hey! So no need for base coat? Would the nail bonding agent be enough?
The enhancement acts as the base.
