    Yeah, but no. This is exactly like people who cook a dish swearing that they followed the recipe, but claiming it didn't come out right... then they add on, "It called for a teaspoon of salt, but I thought that was too much, so I put less. Then I substituted butter for the margarine...." You get the idea. Kinda like trying to go keto while still drinking sugary drinks. Do the diet or don't. There is no in between.

    • @jeangove01
      @jeangove01 3 года назад +1

      Potatoes aren't magic. Weight loss on a potato-only diet is down to lower calories - same with keto btw. This person got the same result as others on the potato diet, they just didn't hype it and calculated what weight, whether muscle or fat, was lost.

    • @Radioghost717
      @Radioghost717 3 года назад +1

      @@jeangove01 Well I think there is something to be said about the resistant starch aspect of potatoes and how it affects your gut biome. You could fast all day and be in a caloric deficit but not change anything about your gut Flora. I think one of the reason this works is because you reset your body's digestive system

    • @stefanweilhartner4415
      @stefanweilhartner4415 4 месяца назад

      @@Radioghost717 exactly. but it is not only the resistant starch - which is low, if the potato is still hot. it is a certain very well balanced mixture of different fiber. there is fiber in it that results in a release of satiety feeling within minutes because of the volume. this is CCK. and there are other fibers that is food for the gut microbiome that results in a long term release in incretin hormones coming from the L cells in the gut like GLP-1 and PYY up to 48 hours!!. GLP-1 also does lower blood sugar production in the liver which results in lower insulin levels which drives the release of fat from your fat cells (lipase enzymes). the perfect mixture of short term and long term satiety hormones drives the success of eating less calories.
      however, this video is also talking about what weight loss can be - lean mass loss and body fat loss. looking more closely at this is super important. many people don't distinguish between loss of lean body mass and loss of body fat mass which is very stupid. loss of lean body mass is not only muscle mass but also organ mass or important collagen in different tissues. in some cases the look very old when losing lean body mass because the skin gets very saggy when collagen got wasted.
      this is something that many youtube people completely ignore when reporting about "magic weight loss" on the potato diet. this is why i want to cycle between a potato diet and beef&eggs carnivore every two days. two days on the suboptimal protein from a potato diet is not doing any harm. filling up the amino acid pool by doing ground beef and eggs for one or two days prevents lean body mass loss and gets you ready for the next two potato diet days. this might be the perfect combination for body fat loss without any nutrient deficiencies.

      Correct. She would have lost more muscle, meaning when she resumed her normal eating patterns she would gain weight easier as her body would burn fewer calories each day. As it is she's already heavier than she was when she started this diet, which is how the whole yo-yo dieting problem comes about.

    thats a cool plan and set up but if im honest i feel like you sabotaged your wifes progress by putting the extra rules up. 28 days of strickly potatoes would have been fine because its relatively short term. a lb a week although is progress its less than half of a dieters goal of 2.5. idk you guys situation but it just seemed like she had an idea and you wanted to put your own spin and control it. *disclaimer: i didnt make it past the the **2:30** mark*

    • @stefanweilhartner4415
      @stefanweilhartner4415 4 месяца назад

      ok, then you might not understood the essence of the video. maybe it also was not explained well enough. the reason about that modification was to minimize loss of lean body mass which is an issue on a pure potato diet.
      however i would cycle between a potato diet and carnivore every two days but not mix it. carbs + protein is ok. fats + protein is ok but fats and carbs is a no no. which also means fat + carbs + protein is a no no.

    Don't forget the impact of protein on the kidneys. I wouldn't consume too much of it.

    • @stefanweilhartner4415
      @stefanweilhartner4415 4 месяца назад

      as long as you stay below 2.5g/kg and do not have high blood sugar, you are safe. what is the real damage for the kidneys are the so called advanced glycation end products AGEs. these are protein and lipids that get glycated by high blood sugar. this happened in bodybuilders who added a ton of fast digestible carbs to induce high insulin as a potential growth factor.
      bodybuilders in the old days like arnold schwarzenegger did not get damaged kidneys because they where not on a high carb diet. the where on a moderate carb diet or even on a low carb diet like from vince gironda's steak and eggs diet. they ate a huge amount of protein and did not get any kidney damage.
