Excellent example of the analog synth artform ! This brings me back to the primordial days of Kraftwerk. I was actually designing and building my own experimental analog synth modules then (mid 70s to 80s), and terrorizing the neighbors with strange sounds in the pre-dawn hours.
It is the second time I listen to ambient eurorack jams as a background while studying, and found myself opening the youtube tab after this jam kicks in....to find out I already liked it.
that ending just made my day. at 5:30 am in the morning. the neighbours and the whole city of workers was clearly missing out on this one. this should have been blasted at a rooftop terrace somewhere so that everybody could jam to it lol
This is cool. Modular synth performances tend to be pretty repetitive, just tweaking effects while the main thing plays. I like seeing the variation in this performance. Good stuff.
Woh. Cannot understand the frame of mind you'd need to be in to mark "dislike" on this. I mean, for the genre and the live performance on a modular synth, it's a joy.
i dont comment alot on youtube but your performance really is something special! just started with my modular synth but you gave me some inspiration :)
from about 6mns onward that filter sweep on the high hats turns them into some sort of steel drums then they transform into a sequence that sounds super percussive (not to be confused with the original arpeggio at the beginning of the video), like a mallet instrument. then some sort of side chaining happens with a few events including a sidechain cello-like sound then the sequence (or the arpeggio from the beginning?) takes on a bell-like quality, then keep the drone slightly farty bass and maybe a new song starts with the two-note arpeggio before the (armenian?) lady sings, the bass gets us into a few new chords, then when the lady stops singing these giant bees come in to do a techno beat and then the now super distorted bass drum starts playing along with the bees and they sit there doing some sort of dance using one of those incomprehensible make noise sequencers then it's a ratcheting/divisions free for all with an apocaplyptic telephone ringing and a variety of sound effects until some ground loop sound finishes it all
Finall i know whats possible with modular as it gets to rhythm and adequate contemporary sounds. stunning and inspiring...will check by myself into that direction...but patrick obviously is a master and hard to beat!
Good to hear live modulars in a form of song not just happy acidents
Excellent example of the analog synth artform !

Finally 5 years later, i find this track again.
unlike many modular "techno" artists you understand techno music before gear. That makes a difference, excellent job sir!
And this being said: He reeally understands his gear
yeah, most people don't understand the gear is like an instrument, just cause you own a really expensive one, doesn't mean you know how to play it...
this is not Techno music at least as genre. but there is one big part of the style here, the Technology part of Techno, i love it anyway
This is not techno tho. This is more experimental electronic stuff. Techon usually involves a constant kick at 4/4 in a faster bpm (120-130)
Tencho!
Thanks!
Wow! Thank you for the support
Wow! Not only does this leave me speechless... it makes me want to give up on my own music. Great performance and setup!
Thank you so much for letting me practice my guitar over that FM bassline by posting this.
NICE!
Music's a language that knows no border

let's gooooooo
Fascinating that working on all those cables and knobs results in this music. I would be completely overworkes by such a machine.
Really well done. Thanks for sharing your modules and workflow in the description as well. Sounds killer!!
This is for real one of my favorite modular sets I have seen. Takes me on a journey.
i love this patch so daim much , i have yet to listen to a better eurorack patch , awesome man
I might have commented on this before, but just listend to the whole thing again, such a great controlled performance, thanks!
Wow! I haven't listened to a lot of full modular compositions, but I think this is the best I remember ever having heard... fantastic!
+Jason Lanthier thanks Jason, really appreciate it!
when the KLF vocals came in, I just lost it. This is really nice!
You made fantastic pieces, but this one has to be my favorite. Fantastic job!
Je reviens dessus encore et toujours, quel talent !

One man band indeed. Sounds like an entire orchestra!
I rarely sub after seeing the first video from a creator but this was a no brainer. Amazing

My friend, I keep finding myself back listening to your work. Thank you for sharing your talent.

I love so much of what you do, but this set just kills it. I love it so much! Keep up the noise!
You've inspired me to go back and check some comments after I posted this on IG today. Cheers!
Best modular perf I've seen on YT so far ! Very nice job man, thank you.
You have definitely mastered that beast. The conductor of an epic rats nest of wires and electronic circuitry at your command.
This is cool. Modular synth performances tend to be pretty repetitive, just tweaking effects while the main thing plays. I like seeing the variation in this performance. Good stuff.
Woah! Taking it to another level! That totally blew me away. The last 5 minutes are fucking genius. Thanks for that! :-)
A surgeon of modular synthesis. Very nice!

I'm on that too
Most lovely sounds.
i dont comment alot on youtube but your performance really is something special!
just started with my modular synth but you gave me some inspiration :)
Yeah! Quite a lot of variety out of a single instrument. Kudos!
Love the instrument transition around 5:50.
This is insane! Damn. You destroyed it! Genius!
Well done this is just what I needed.
'Sailing' reminds me a bit of AIR's 'Electronic Performers' from 10.000 Herz Legend...and that's mainly a good feeling!
This is crazy. Love this. Ready to go Modular .... Where to begin crazy euroracks
Check out modulargrid.net. It's a great website to see what kinds of modules are available that will match your budget and style.
It’s amazing to watch your videos with a *slight* knowledge of what you’re doing. I really want a Mutable Instruments Elements now. :P
Oh man your channel deserves more attention, loving your work
I really enjoyed this. Very fun to watch and see how you work.
hell of a live set man nice work!
Great work man. I love the sound
More melody and harmony than your average modular show. Then that ending! Great stuff.
Thank you, Steve
