It’s funny that Drew mentioned being a regular ol’ schmo who still goes to Target, because back in the day I used to work at Target and actually ran into him a few times. The first time he was on the phone with his wife and actually noticed that I recognized him and said “hold on honey, it’s a fan. I’ll give you a call back.” And proceeded to have a five minute conversation with me as I just gushed about them like he would about Shawn Tubbs. The Drew that you see here and what he acknowledged as his gifting of being approachable and making people feel comfortable with being themselves is completely spot on. It might sound weird, but I really do hope that his departure from the band was strictly for the benefit of his personal life and nothing to do with any conflict within the band. They all do really seem like brothers, and I’m sure anyone who knows the band recognizes how genuine and kind each of them are. I really hope Drew is refilling his tank and getting everything he deserves out of this life in his absence from the band.

I have followed Switchfoot for a very long time.
I used to frequent Christian rock festivals when I volunteered for Christian radio in SoCal.
    Great interview.

Great interview, the questions created really engaging conversation! I came across Switchfoot's music about 7 years ago, and as he mentioned about the impact they've had on other's lives, I can echo that from my own experiences. Really miss Drew being a part of the band, but this interview was encouraging to hear about some of the impactful things he's doing outside of music. They're the best kind of role models you could hope for in rock stars. All the best to Drew and Switchfoot, thanks again for the interview - well done!

Phenomenal interview! I used to have a radio talk show on Christian radio in SoCal and am actually going to San Diego next week to see Switchfoot. I found this because I wanted to learn more about the group and their music. I certainly enjoyed hearing about being a recovering Christian and how our faith is who we are. We are not a religion~ Love God, & Christ Jesus and love others...do that and then you've got it RIGHT~#loveneverfails
Thanks again for this really awesome gift of an interview~

wow, I relate so much to this! My parents told me the same thing when I didn't know what major to pick in college and I am so appreciative that they did. I totally understand joining a band after they've recorded the record and before they've released it. The pressure of just sticking to those parts is weird, plus it's like walking on eggshells until you prove yourself. Once I did and we all started writing the next record, it finally felt like I was actually a part of something and not just a stand-in! I've also gone through health issues and an NDE that turned my world upside down and made me think about what really matters. Honestly, I'm thankful it happened to me in my 20's because it made me see the world in a different way, which has given me clarity on the path of my life.
Drew, we briefly met twice many years ago when you and the band were all changing my life with your music and inspiring me to go down that path. Much love, I hope you and your family are well these days.
