    Much appreciated…my Coleman instant 6 person tent was stuck in Seattle rain for an hour and our interior corners and sides got wet. I instantly got this tent instead and look forward to using it…thanks for a thorough review.

    This review lead to me buying the Rapid 4. I know this tent isn't perfect, but as someone that exclusively car camps and frequently packs up each day I really value simplicity in setup. My shakedown with the 4 person went really well. The door zippers are incredibly frustrating with how often they snag, but that's really my only complaint. I totally missed your affiliate link for the 4 person :( but your reviews are so good I see myself buying with your links in the future. Thank you.

      Hey Braden! Thank you so much for sharing about your experience with the Rapid 4! It definitely sounds like it's the perfect fit for you actually 😊 Although I'm so sorry to hear that they haven't updated the door zippers yet! Hopefully one day they would. And no worries about missing on the affiliate link! I really appreciate the thought either way, and hopefully next time I'll be able to post more camping videos that you'll be interested in that you can use the links in. Really appreciate the support Braden! 🥰

    Nice tent! Zipper on the rain fly is brilliant. Comparing to my Coleman 6P instant, this baby has an e-port, larger door, and more storage. But when oh when will department store tent makers make doors more user friendly??
    Thanks for the review. Nice job as always.

      @HerrP Thank you so much as always! I really appreciate you watching my reviews, glad you like them! 😊 And yes! Zipper on the rainfly was AWESOME. Such a cool design! I've got a few higher-end and more expensive tents coming up in the next few weeks and those have really user-friendly doors! I think the price point of this Caddis Rapid doesn't quite make the cut at the moment =P

      @@CampingGuidance Found it difficult to setup alone. The windows do not zip, so I would expect a draft in wind. Storage is only at top. No loops in middle of walls to hold wall out during wind. Rain fly is like the rapid’s front, but on all sides (I knew this part).

      @@unclhos Thank you so much for taking the time to give me feedback! I think I managed to cover most of those points too! Yeahh I think it's definitely not meant for any other season except summer, and definitely not meant for wind haha. Hope the Rapid is a better tent for you! 😊

      @@CampingGuidance You’re welcome, Liz. By the way, if I want to fit two Coleman Converta Camp Cots (approx 7’x2’x1’) into a Caddis or Coleman tent. A four person tent seems a little tight. Maybe a six person tent is better, although much larger. Your opinion? Thanks!

    • @CampingGuidance
      @CampingGuidance  Год назад

      @@kapellmeister51 Thanks for the reply Brian! Hmm I tend to like a little more space, so I'd go with the 6P. With the 4P, you won't have much space leftover for sure, and take note that the dimensions of any tent that you're gonna buy is going to be a little smaller than what the marketed dimensions are. At least that's been my experience. So personally I'd get the 6P for a little more wiggle room. I hope this helps! 😊 What do you think?

      @@CampingGuidance I did my share of roughing it when I was young and strong. Nowadays, I’m more interested in spending time in a quiet place where I can relax, read and write, and otherwise enjoy solitude. A larger tent will give me a more conducive environment for this. I think a six person tent, although at first seeming a bit oversized, will be what I want. More like staying in a cabin, Lol.

    What if the rain is coming straight at the front of the tent? Does it leak considering the fly doesnt cover much of the front at all?

    • @CampingGuidance
      @CampingGuidance  Год назад

      Hi Michael! Thanks for the question! Yes I'm afraid that there's some exposed ceiling mesh at the front of the tent, which will leak if you have rain + wind (horizontal rain) coming straight at you at the front. :( I hope this helps! 😊

    Hello, I need some advice. I'm very new to camping. I would like a tent sized 6 to 8 people. I also need to stand up. I'm 5' 7. But I think the most important thing is to be dry if we get bad weather (a rain storm). I'm camping outdoors in the Ohio mountains for five nights in August. What would you recommend that is under $400? I'm so confused! It seems that everyone has complaints about their tents.

    • @CampingGuidance
      @CampingGuidance  Год назад +1

      Hi Crystal! Welcome to camping! No worries about being new here, I'll do my best to help you out if I can 😊 Hmm just to clarify, do you need to fit 6 to 8 people inside a tent? If so, you'd need between am 8P to 10P to accommodate that many people. Possibly even more (up to a 12P) if you have a lot of gear. Most 6P camping tents (and above) have a peak height of at least 6 feet, so you should be able to stand up at least in the center of the tent. I really like my Wawona 6 for being super rainproof, and it comes in an 8P version although that's probably not gonna be within your budget. $400 isn't a lot for an 8P to 10P tent, but you can actually buy less expensive tents within your budget, like Coleman and Core. If so, bear in mind that you will need to do some additional waterproofing yourself. I'd recommend sealing the seams and using a waterproofing spray on the tent. I learned how to do it from REI, here's a great resource to check out: www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/how-to-waterproof-a-tent.html

    • @crystal9626
      @crystal9626 Год назад

      @@CampingGuidance I won’t have 8 people, but I don’t want a small tent. So any tent under $400 should be waterproofed?

    • @CampingGuidance
      @CampingGuidance  Год назад +1

      @@crystal9626 If you're expecting heavy rains, yes, I recommend waterproofing. I actually really liked the Columbia Mammoth Creek. Very roomy, so you'll be able to stand up, and they come in 4P to 10P versions, and the quality was really good for the price I paid. It's actually fully waterproofed. But because the rainfly is really small (as are most rainflies on cabin tents), there was a little bit of seepage after hours and hours of rain.
