When I make the brim I do 1st row single crochet around 2nd row two double crochet then increase all the way around 3rd round repeat round 2 Round 4 three double crochet then an increase. ( it's just what I do)
Hello, She is making this for a kids size. I counted 5 rounds on each granny square. Then she joined them together with one solid color. For the brim. 2 Double crochet in every stitch around the bottom of the hat until you get your desired brim look. I hope this helps❤

I did it and it came out to be kids size

This may be due to the size of hook you used and or tension as mine was not kids size it fit an adult head.
