I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder + anxious distress. Terrible disease. It affected both my work and life...procrastination and poor work performance. I feel guilty and worthless most of the time.

Like Dr. David says in the video, you are not worthless or bad none of us are. It is just a terrible story we tell ourselves. Keep working on it and it will get better. I am still trying to work on it too. All we can do is try to progress. Best of luck with everything. Keep fighting it will get better.

I feel your pain; can empathise as I also have both those mental disorders and procrastination is a real problem. I can relate totally to everything that David is saying here. He is such a good educator on this subject. I find his videos the most helpful out of any other I've watched on RUclips

    Thank you, David.
Thank you to the questioner. Wishing them well.
    That was so helpful.
The insight into the underlying conditioning of guilt etc and the nervous system shutting us down when the job is too big is a game changer.
I think it is only now, I have enough calm to see it instead of projecting things outside.

I just watched this video, and everything being said really describes my current situation. I joined this full-stack web development bootcamp in January. I got through the first month, but as the months went by, I missed a couple of days and started feeling guilty about it. I tried to solve that by doing nothing at all. I even went as far as avoiding the bootcamp's Discord channel because it would have made me realize how much I had missed. Fast forward to June, and I was three months behind on my daily tasks and content, with six projects that needed to be submitted. All of this led me to beat myself up really badly. Hopefully, after this, I will gradually overcome all of this.

I agree!! His videos are so simply but hugely educational - he really digs deeply in to the subject in a way that seems to be void in other videos on the subject

As usual, this was an informative and compassionate take on procrastination. I really appreciate all the work that you do on the subject and hope that this will be as helpful to the rest of the world as it has been for me. Thank you for what you do, Dr. David! You are the best!

I enjoy all your videos on procrastination, I found your channel when I was feeling very off last year and your videos on emotional numbness really helped me (I think your advice was not to peg the emotions as weird, rather they are just something youre going through/experiencing?). Since then your procrastination videos have also helped a ton, although I am still very much working on not procrastinating (haha). Thanks for the amazing content you put out and for free too

Hello, I saw that you made a lot of videos on procrastination and I don't have a lot of time to watch them one by one, especially since you have so many of them, so I wanted to know the most effective techniques that helped you completely stop procrastination. What are they?

Are you saying we are guilty of our Belief System? The stuff is placed in our inner being (especially in our childhood) the stuff it gets almost unconsciously/ subconsciously implanted in our heads?

I learned with your theories that I feel incapable of making good decisions…but still don’t know how to fix it because of the cause and effect of poor decision making and how that pushes my self steam low… and it is vicarious cycle. Can you help? Add some clarity please. I hope I can hire you for a session sometime soon to help me get unstucked!

Hi Daniela. No, I'm not really saying that. It's only a technicality I'm pointing to when I say that we introject and 'accept' the false narratives we were surrounded by. In reality, no one is immune to the effects of their environment and the prevailing messaging. However, if we can create an environment of safety, we then have a foundation from which to reverse the false belief system and undo it.
