    What a beast MJ was. I used to watch him in awe when I was a kid. He never ran away from the ball, from a challenge, from anyone. I understand why this new generation don’t understand the greatness of this man, but rest assure, MJ is the greatest of them all.

    • @technum1
      @technum1 5 лет назад +7

      Marlon Lopez Darn right. The experience is not in the present. You have to see it as it occurred to know MJ’s greatness. These kids will never know. 23 took over. Dominated. And conquered like no other. Super teams get all the credit now but, MJ did it his way.

    • @WallTrapMedia

      The thing about MJ is that he just could raise his game to a higher level because he had the most control over his body. His only comparison would be the guy he carried on tradition form which was Dr.J. Like the Doc, Jordan could go into the paint full of giants rise up in the air like he was jumping off a trampoline, hang suspended in animation from all these crazy angles like Spiderman then lay it up over, around, through you or even toss it up behind his head for a no-look shot off the glass and clap his hands just for special effects. What made Jordan surpass the Doc was that he was the greatest leaper of all-time because he could jump off tow feet just as high and explosively as he could off one foot. Nobody since then has that much confidence in their ability! LeBron, Kobe, Wade, T-Mac, Vince, Stackhouse, etc...They came close but MJ is still above par. Zion is more like MJ in that he can drive and leap off one or two feet equally, play great defense and he has that type of quickness and ability to float but at 285 pounds with suspect knees, I don't know if his body will hold up. If it does, I think he has a chance to be the next contestant in the "Chase the Ghost in Chicago" sweepstakes but I'm not banking on it anytime soon because to be greater than MJ, you have to do over a billion in sales from your product, you have to have the NBA chance the rules in your favor form your dominance and you have to win 10 scoring titles, 6 rings, 6 Finals MVP's, 5 MVP's, ROY and DPOY. LeBron isn't going to catch him neither is Steph, KD or Harden and Giannis and Kawhi probably are the best young players. So it's almost an impossible feat at this point.

      God #1 Lebron #2 the 92’ Knicks would eat most of today’s teams for breakfast. As would the ‘98 pacers. The Bulls toughest battles were in the eastern conference usually and it wasn’t sorry especially in this first threepeat era. Don’t forget that Lebron also had his ass handed to him by a 6th man - Jason Terry - in multiple games in the 2011 finals and even the tv crew with guys like Chris Webber and Grant Hill were saying Lebron gave up again in the finals a couple years ago. Lebron James is probably the most physically imposing and versatile basketball player of all time but he’s also disappeared in huge games and has legitimately given up. His talent itself is undeniably great but I can’t imagine his only occasional mental toughness still remaining if he actually had to play in an era when people knocked you on your ass.

      Someone before the game had said that Drexler had Mike on 3 point shooting, so MJ made it a point to rain down threes which led to the shrug. He was basically saying, "I thought I couldn't shoot threes like Clyde?"

  • @logicaldude3611
    @logicaldude3611 3 года назад +71

    What a lot of people don't realize is that the 3 point onslaught and the shrug all happened because before the game some reporter said Clyde Drexler was a better 3 point shooter than Jordan. The man literally took everything personally and would come out smoking guys to prove whatever point he wanted to make.

    Nothing beats the intensity of basketball in the 80s and 90s. There's such a lack of intensity in basketball today players from other teams go on vacation with each other! I thought it was strange in 1992 when the dream team got along so well. But as soon as that was over war was declared once again on each other.

      But they shoot too many 3s now, partly cause of poor developed mid range & post up games, partly cause of analytics gone mad, partly cause of poor defense & lack of hand checking, partly cause of the allowance of zone defense (they played it back then some too, but it was blatant), partly cause of lack of coaching, partly cause of not enough of true point guards, partly cause of lack of patience by today's generation; I know I'm missing some reasons, but those are just I can think off the top of my head right now.

All it took was that one slight against him and he made it a point to destroy the Blazers from deep in the first half. He's in game one of the NBA Finals and he's not only competing against the Blazers, he's competing against some person who made a remark he didn't like. The guy's competitiveness was on an entirely different level.

      Well, don't say that. Don't mislead the kids, we wanna be accurate. Mike shot 245 reg season 3s the year before his 1st chip, compared to 100 3s the year he took on Blazers in the finals. So Mike was already displaying his 3pt shooting ability. It was just fascinating how he went out game 1 and conducted his own 3pt shooting contest during a finals game.

      That Portland Trail Blazers team was far from weak. As a matter of fact, the Blazers teams from 1989-90 to 1991-92 had a run of being in the NBA Finals two of those three years (Lakers beat em in the '91 Western Conference Finals). They just had the misfortune of playing a couple of teams who were just better.

    So this was the shrug game. Did not remember Jordan setting and setting again, the record for 3's in a half in the finals. Wow. I remember watching this series in Oregon, at my friend's grandpa's house. Just EPIC.

    MJ didn't even come close to most 3s in a finals game or any NbA game for that matter and still has one of the most iconic moments in finals history with the game being named after a gesture he made. What a legend!

      Finals Record. And with all due respect, today's game is soft. All shooting. This bulls team would destroy these guys today. If Jordan wanted to he would have been one of the best 3 pt shooters of all time. He just didn't need to be. Jordans talent and will were limitless

    People forget how lethal this team was. Lethal. Six titles in eight seasons. Never even got to a Game 7 in any of their finals. Not as deep as the '80s Celtics and Lakers, but all of them were better than any team LeBron has captained.

    Remember this like it was yesterday. Just moved to Oregon from California and my class was all Rip City for this series. Then the comments of MJ not able to shoot 3’s came and well he proved otherwise. I was cheering for Portland to win but there was no stopping that man.

    I'm from another generation than today's Lebron's worshipers. I hated basketball with a passion but I LOVED watching MJ play. He had the style, the grace and charisma to make people who hated the sport want to watch. I can't say that about Lebron. I watch him and I'm like, eh, ok. Watching MJ was like watching molten gold pour into a mold. People say the same about people like Tiger Woods or Usain Bolt. The sport may bore you but they don't. THAT'S what's invaluable.
