  • The invisible setting, the delicate setting technique.
    What is the invisible setting?
There are various kinds of settings. Generally, most of the setting techniques use the metal from the jewelry body to hold the gems, for example; prong setting and Bazel setting. However, the invisible setting is different. The setting allows the jewelry to hold gems without any metal edges or prongs. This type of setting was invented in French by Van Cleef & Arpels in 1933. The setting is also known as The Mystery Setting™.
    Jewelry with an invisible setting
The invisible setting technique can be applied to many types of jewelry. The body of the jewelry is usually designed in a net shape, and the gem is princess-cut. The design of jewelry and gem cut will allow the gems to stay tightly together. A round diamond is not appropriate for this kind of setting. This setting technique is the hardest, and require high accuracy
    Benefits of the invisible setting
The most obvious benefit is that the setting makes the small gems look bigger. The structure will fully display tables of gems, and hide other parts in the body of the jewelry. Selecting the invisible setting is a good way to make a small gem look more luxurious on the jewelry.
The invisible setting is very hard, and its production requires very high skill. The jeweler has to be proficient enough to set the gem perfectly on the body of the jewelry. These special features make the invisible-setting jewelry valuable and unique. It is suitable to give as a special gift such as an anniversary present.
