That Orthax was somehow FAR worse than the Briarwoods or even the Whispered One was a super well done touch as well as a satisfying trope or theme if how righteous wrath can be FAR more terrifying than deliberate malice ever can be.

I binged the whole series so far these past couple days and despite not getting as much plot relevance in season 2, Percy is still up there with Vax and Grog as my favorite members of Vox Machina. Makes me so excited for Season 3!

GROG IS MY FAVORITE
This is super cool to see again. I finished S2 the other day and kinda forgot Percy existed. He's way on the sidelines for pretty much the entirety of the second season.
It makes sense considering how central he was to season one - until they come across HER again, his only personal stakes are his buddies in the group after all.
To be clear: all for more fancy boy, but the others deserve time to shine.
@@cobaltCarnivore Oh yeah definitely. They sidelined him hard though and he doesn't even appear to be useful in combats despite his array of firearms.
That said, I've been watching the D&D sessions that inspired a lot of the animated show and Percy doesn't really do much in the tabletop either. Most of the fighting is done by Vex, Vax, Grog, and, hilariously, Scanlan.
Percy has his moment to shine in Season 1 being the main character of that season. I understand him putting him on the sidelines for Season 2, but we’re going to see more action from him in the future. No doubt about that.
Just wait for S3. It's about time he posses cabal's ruin

What's worse is it made him see fabrications, made him relive his worst moments and goaded him into every dark impulse he had. I can't imagine the kind of iron will someone would need to resist something like that happening to them. Vex and his sister were the only ones who could pull him out of that.
Well lets give Talisman Jaffie the praise of this amazing character. One the most likebale and adark characters since Hannibal Lecture 😊
I don't believe Percy forgave Delilah. For all he did was stop Orthax from controlling him. And besides he knew that Delilah can't be allowed to live. Not after what she and Sylas did to Percy and Cassandra.
Unpopular opinion: Percy is a mixture of Jason Todd and Vash the Stampede.
Taliesin absolutley watched trigun and had some Vash inspiration.

I know this is D&D yet this feels like a bloodborne cutscene
D&D had a Bloodborne-esque gothic horror setting years ago. It was their first big theme setting: Ravenloft, a hellworld for - and ruled by - evil overlords.

Percy deserves to have his revenge. But not with Orthax controlling him.
Vengeance is what brought Orthax in the first place. Taking revenge either way was going to help Orthax

I"m curious as to how you would do this in 5E or Pathfinder (1st and now 2nd Edition)
For Pathfinder, I could see it as a 'Corruption' from the "Horror" or "Occult" rules set, but I would have to come up with the various corruptions on my own (with actual 'soul stealing' being one of the higher level abilities).

If Artagan ascended to godhood as The Traveler simply by having Jester be his only worshipper, could Orthax do the same by having a single cleric worship him and call him The Collector?
he didn't ascend via only Jester. he started getting more powerful as he got more and more followers, much after Jester during the course of the actual campaign.
He had way more followers than just Jester. Traveller-con was a testiment to that. And even with those followers, he was still chump change to other actual gods
Artagan's ascension was confirmed by a cupcake and the dust of deliciousness. Trust me, it's canon.
How is Percy not a Warlock if he struck a bargain?
It was bleed over from Pathfinder so there isn't a direct analog, but the gist is he took warlock for magic initiate in the 5e terms while being a homebrew fighter class called gunslinger.
In game he took magic initiate, to mimic a lesser bargain he unknownly struck. I believe Talisen even said He left it up to Matt if Percy really had a dream the inspired him to make the Pepperbox, or if Orthax actually did appear.

I was so disappointed when Percy overcame the demons influence. He was an immensely interesting character and now he's just boring.

@@ZyronZA Maybe the reason it's generic is that it's an adaptation of an improvise tabletop game with the target demographic of the original fans. Changing a lot of stuff would alienate them.
He no longer becomes a focal point because his story has been told, and it is time to move on. Side characters unless zanny typically become boring unless they are the reason the plot exists or needs to continue. So it's only natural once he reaches a resolution to fall into the background.
Percy became a side character with no significance after his arc in season 1
You guys wasted him. He should still maintain his darkness power and his constant struggle would be staying in balance between sanity and his darkness.
That’d make the story way more compelling. Now he’s just a nerdy engineer with unnecessary white hair that has no significant contribution to the battle and story and someone to be hated on and made fun of.
I think his relationship with Vex can be considered important. Also this is based on a DND campaign. And also Anna Ripley is still out there.

But, the story would still go on as usual even if the emotional development with Vex didn't even happen. Nothing of this story would change.
@@Noir-Force yeah but the same could be said of the other characters in season 1. Like grog or scanlan. They had roles but you could have substituted them out in most cases aside from small character moments. It's just time to give other characters some time as the "main character"
@@RealRaven6229 Grog and Scanlan are respectively the muscle and the wizard of the group. And they're also the comedy relief of the show.
Percy in this season is just someone to be hated on and made fun of while with no contribution.
The thing that annoys me the most was that Percy basically got neutered to a nerd with no menance and dignity. All the wasted potential that could have been developed on this character.
But you have a point, it's true that other characters need development too. But they can still choose not to waste the potential of Percy while spending time developing other characters.
