I worked at a retirement home, and it was basically high school. There was a cool table. It was the biggest and only round table in the dining room. There was one woman who dated tons of men, and the women all hated her and were jealous. Meanwhile they’re all 75+. Nothing changes 😂

We later found out he was smuggeling alcohol and cigarettes to everyone who couldn't go out on their own :D I stumbled upon 5 empty vodka bottles while cleaning a lady's room and turns out those two had a thing going and regularly got drunk together in secret 😂😂😂

My great grandma found out her husband was skirting around, but when his coworker told her that he’d said, “ As long as I keep one in her lap & one in the oven, she doesn’t have anything to complain about” that was it. She took his paycheck & booked a train from California back to Oklahoma with 5 kids. She also refused to sign divorce papers, so when that pos died, SHE got his pension & not the woman he’d been living with for a decade. 😂 So proud of this epically strong woman!

This is one of my favorite stories of my grandma. It was a few days before she passed away, and she had dementia so she really didn't know who we were. My dad was sitting next to her bed, holding her hand, and he asked her, "mom, do you know who I am?" She just turns her head, opens one eye and goes, "yeah, you're a pain in the ass" then goes back to sleep. We all started laughing so hard, the room went from sad and somber to lively with that one comment. She didn't say much else after that, and passed away a few days later. Famous last words granny!

According to my parents, my great grandmother had one of the pettiest moments I've ever heard:
She lived in NYC with her husband and two of her adult children were staying with her for the holidays. My great grandfather still worked and there was a snowstorm, so my great grandmother and the two adults dug out a spot for him to park in when he got home. Shortly afterwards, a man takes said spot from them. They try to explain the situation but he rudely ignores them and says something like I don't give a crap. As soon as he is in, my great grandmother simply says, "Get the shovel".
With her at the lead, she and her kids dug the neighbor's car back in with all the snow they dug out. They made sure the car was buried deep in the snow. She then went inside, got some water, and poured it all over the car. When she was done, she left it to freeze overnight, creating a nice, thick ice/snow barrier around the car.
The next day, the neighbor goes to leave and sees his car covered in ice and snow. My great grandmother was there watching and waving to him from inside her apartment, a cup of hot coffee in her hands. Apparently, it took hours for him to figure out how to free his car.

I think maybe the story has changed over the years of being told, because pouring water on the situation would take days to undo. Unless he got it towed to a heated garage, it could take until Spring! She should have poured the water first to seal th doors, then end with a nice misting. That would take till Summer! Hope hubby was proud of her! She Is a Great grandma!

I love that rule breaking Grandma!
I got a lump in my throat because of how much she reminds me of my aunt, my mom's sister, who loved to annoy my rather propper mom by doing and saying whatever the hell she wanted. She outlived 4 husbands. Mom said she just wore them out.
My aunt was named "Earline", but everyone called her "Erkie". I was in my 20s when one of my boyfriends met her and just fell in love with her funny antics and outrageous flirting. He heard me call her "Aunt Erkie", and he started laughing. He said, "That nickname is PERFECT! How long has your family been calling her Anarchy?"
Then it was our time to laugh. My brother and I had been saying "Aunt Erkie" with a Southern drawl since we were toddlers, but until that moment didn't realize that, indeed, we were saying "Anarchy"!

Just turned 72. Age is what you make of it. Started skydiving and downhill skiing in my 40s. Finally learned to skateboard (thanks to my grandsons) in my 50s. In my early 60s I went to Africa for the first time (by myself) and went multiple times, living in a rasta fishing village and learning to drum. Now in my 70s, I've discovered an amazing Chinese rocker who only performs in China (Hua Chenyu) and have booked hotels in China for his annual Mars Concert. Law of attraction....believe that you're still young and can do whatever you want and that's how you can live your life! PS Started working again full time at 71.

My grandmother was 89 when she died. The morning before, she dug up all the dandelions in her yard and bagged them for the trash. I spoke to her that evening and she'd fixed a good dinner and the neighbor had brought her strawberry shortcake. She sat in her chair and watched TV and peacefully passed away. She still cleaned out her own gutters and sewed and quilted. She was awesome. My mother is now 89 and while she's living in assisted living she's quite sharp.

my ex husband's grandmother was also like this up until she had gotten bit by a brown recluse. his sister says that wasn't what changed things, but it was. she had healed but it had done enough damage that she had to have her foot amputated because she's diabetic and they don't do well with injuries, especially later in life. but up until that moment, she was constantly on the move. cooking, cleaning, gardening, taking care of her many grandbabies and great grandbabies. everyone would tell her to slow down or take a break and she'd always tell them "i'll rest when i'm gone."

She used to ride motorcycles just a few years back though that's too dangerous now with memory loss. She would make me and my siblings hand made quilted pillows, she let us use the laundry shoot to play with by tossing objects through it and racing to get to it in the basement. Absolute gem of a great-grandmother. Love you Grandma Ruby!

Reflecting on the story, as my grandma told it, I'm pretty sure she made a lifetime commitment out of sheer pettiness. See, she was dating this guy who had to go down to Texas for some trip or something and he didn't take her with him, which she was peeved about. So her friend invited her to a double date w/ like Bob and James or w/e. They went dancing or something one weekend and my grandma was paired up w/ Bob while her friends was paired up w/ James. They had a good time, so her friend invited her out w/ the same guys the next weekend--but her friend and Bob got sick and couldn't go. So my grandma just went out with this James guy. James then did the most 1940's thing and proposed to my grandma on their second (technically kind of their first) date. AND HE DIDN'T EVEN GET HER NAME RIGHT. He tried SO HARD to see what her ID bracelet said, but STILL got it wrong and proposed to her w/ the wrong name.
But she was still pissed at her boyfriend, so grandma was like, "lol sure." James was leaving for California the next day and she knew she'd never see him again so whatever. BUT NAH BITCH. James came back two weeks later w/ his car to drive her down to California to meet his parents. And my grandma was just like..."lol sure."
SHE NEVER EVEN BROKE UP W/ HER BOYFRIEND SHE JUST GOT ENGAGED TO THIS RANDOM FUCKING DUDE WHILE HER BF WAS OUT OF TOWN B/C SHE WAS MAD HE DIDN'T TAKE HER WITH HIM???? SHE NEVER ELABORATED ON THIS POINT I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT HIS NAME WAS
Anyway, that's the story of how my grandparents met. My mom, her sisters, all of us grandkids, and all the great grandkids literally only exist b/c grandma woke up one day and chose petty.

My favorite one snuck a bottle of Bailey's and drank it whole with another two at the senior center. They got the SUGAHS for weeks and I had to play serious but she was a blast.
And before that I had an 80yo who had TWO boyfriends, one for the morning walk and one for the afternoon coffee and cinema. She was SO CUTE, and these guys were at least 12 to 15 years younger and competing for her affections with flowers and candy and outings... I guess we sharing grandma stories.
My grandma died in '99 when I was 13. She lived out of state but would drive down every summer to watch me while my parents worked. We would go to Pizza Hut once a week and order a pizza and she'd have a pitcher of beer. We went to the local mall every Wednesday to go toys and clothes shopping for me. She stayed in my bedroom when she stayed with us and I slept on the couch. On the Wednesday before school starting the next week that year, I slept in, and was going to wake her so we could go to the mall. I found her on my bedroom floor surrounded by my dogs. She had a string of heart attacks and quietly died that morning. That was a very long time ago. I lost both my parents only a few short years later, and have lost practically all my other family members in the decades after. Most of my memories of everyone have faded. I really don't remember what anyone sounded like, outside of my grandma's laugh. I think she's the person I have the strongest love for that's ever been a part of my life. That was nice to share.

Its been a long time since my grandma passed i was 9 and i mostly cant remember her voice but i can remember her play arguing with my grandpa every grocery day when he would say she had too much of something like cans of tomato paste to make her sunday gravy and nonna always responded *yeah Al i got thousands of them* and that sentance in her voice has stayed with me for decades. Im 42 now lost my grandpa at 18 and though i remember many more conversations with him whenever i think of him its his half of that fight and him *sneaking* us neopolitan ice cream and saying dont tell nonna and nonna calling him a pain in the ass when he brought back the dirty bowls just as she finished cleaning up from dinner lol. He would always clean the bowls though. Grandparents are a blessing that too many of us dont get time to fully appreciate til they are gone

My favorite memory of my grandma was while she was on a lot of different meds declining from dementia so she couldn't have alcohol (mind you I had never seen her drink alcohol ever which make this even funnier) we were all together having pizza, my mom gave her milk and my granny couldn't stop going on and on about how if you're eating pizza you MUST have beer, refused to take a bite without a beer in her hand. Finally my mom gives in and gives her a root beer, all hell broke loose and my grandma scolded my mom "how dare you Mary Louise I raised you, I am a grown woman and I want beer with my pizza!"
My mom then goes back to the kitchen and pours root beer in a tall Guinness glass and brings it to my granny, granny happily drinks it and enjoys her pizza 😂😂🍕🍻

My grandpa had a drinking problem when his kids were young, he told me the story of how he would get off work, go straight to the bar, and then come home drunk and annoying and be rude thinking he was funny. My granny got tired of his wanton behavior, so she decided to make him an extra special lunch for work. She made him up a great big helping of 9lives salmon made into a salad. I was a full-time caretaker for my grandmother who had cancer. She died at the age of 90. Of all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren I was her least favorite one. We're talking physical, verbal and psychological abuse. But as a child I promised her to take care of her when she's older and that I wouldn't let it happen that she has to live in a nursing home. When the time came many years later none of her relatives wanted to take her. I left my day job, lived with her and took care of her 24/7. It was a hard time. But I'm glad that she learned that even I wasn't what she wanted me to be other than her favorite kids I cared. I stand by my word. And I would do it again because I know how afraid she was that some day strangers would be treating her like they do with other elderly people. I promised the same to my father. But I would never care for my so called mother.

There was a sign on the shelf that clearly said 'Please do not open the packages.' My wife ignored the sign and tore open one of the packages to see what size the diapers were. I told her she wasn't supposed to do that. She replied to me. "I'll just say 'No English' if someone sees me opening them." Oh, she knew exactly what she was doing. Just because their body doesn't work right, does not mean that the mind is gone as well. She saw him take out a wad of bills, and just kept playing the 'feeble' grandma until she had it all.
My grandmother was one who didn't want her grown up girls to worry about her. Mom got a call from the neighbor. Grandma had fallen, the neighbor (who visited daily) found her and took her to the hospital. She was there two days before the neighbor called, and that was only because she was having some trouble breathing and they put her on a ventilator.
"Oh, don't call the girls, they can't do anything and I don't want them to worry." The neighbor was like 'Nope, I'm calling the girls, this is a lot more serious than a fall.
My mother was partly laughing when she called me. " Oh, grandma's in the hospital because she fell and now she's on a ventilator, But she said she was JUST FINE." We were the closest and both of us took off work to go check on her. She was happy to see us, but a little upset that the neighbor had called "I told her I was going to be JUST FINE, don't let the girls worry."
She got over that and was with us for another 20 years. I miss her every day.

It wasn't petty but this happened when my 88-year-old Nana was in the hospital. We knew she was going downhill and didn't have much time left so a bunch of my family gathered around her. She looked at my Uncle and told him that she was done having kids and didn't want any more. It made us laugh and eased the tension in the room. I miss my Nana, she was the best.

My grandma, the 4th grade school teacher for the entire town for thirty plus years, refused to observe daylight savings time, stop lights that used to be stop signs, and rent hikes by the landlord. No one made her do anything she didn't want to, except the time she bought a car from a former student, and she cursed his name for ten years.

Had to revamp my mother’s nightgowns. She’s so happy that bought her multiple sets of grey and black nighties with white piping and we can unbutton them all the way in front in case of emergency. She has stylish nighties and it does make her feel better.
(no idea why I shared that 😆)

The one about the pearls before he went to war wasnt petty at all, just Evil and cold. He went to war with a broker heart for NO reason. Id NEVER tell that story ever, but especially not when talking about how much i missed my grandma.. thank god she did that to him tbh, because he deserved SO MUCH BETTER ! can't imagine how hurt and scared and lonely he was..and he still wrote to her. Smh. Fuck that old crow

My mum spent the last 8 years of her life in a nursing home, mainly because she was on oxygen and was pretty much bedridden. Most nights she would sit up late (she was always a night owl reading until 2am when I was a teen...I'd hear dad say "Come on Ivy, put your damn book down and turn out the light" and she would reply "Just one more chapter..." an hour later she would finish the book then go to sleep...) and she would ring up and chat with the local talk back radio guy who was on from about 10 pm until midnight or later. She would find dirty jokes and read them to him on air, and she would tell him stories about growing up during the Depression and War years, stories about the convent she was in during WW2 since her mum couldn't look after her (she was a single mother and only 17 when mum was born) with tales of the nuns and stuff. When she hadn't rung in for a week, he actually rang her nursing home to see if she was ok (she had an infection at the time which had hit her hard) so he asked his listeners to keep her in their thoughts that night. The next day, about 15 bouquets of flowers arrived addressed to her from his listeners. Mum cried and I rang the studio to thank him.
A few years later when she died (it was sudden) he actually came to her funeral and shook my hand saying how she had taken a dull segment of his life and brightened it up with her jokes, her stories and her energy. I thanked him for giving her a life line to hang on to, how she was always asking me for new jokes to tell him and so on. My kids were only 14 and 8 at the time and they still miss her terribly. The saddest part was, her brain was still super sharp right up until the last few days but her body just let her down.
My nephews and my kids all agree that 'Granny Grump' was the best grandma around. She had been more physical with the older kids (I was born 10 years after my siblings - mum had trouble carrying to term), taking them swimming, getting down on the floor playing cars with them, getting totally messy helping her cook cakes and biscuits, you know... granny stuff.
Now I'm a grandma to two munchkins and I look to her for inspiration. I miss her so much every day even though it's been 11 years - she is still looking over my shoulder and encouraging me to march to my own drum, to be the best I can be.

I swear the older people were so much drama! lol one time I had a lady kick another patient in the pool and he yelled at her and they’re fighting.. and I had to call our therapy director because I was over telling grown ass people to cut it out. Lol it was worse than like little kids.

This year is my 60th around the sun. I've hit my stride. I'm retired now, but when I was working as an RN in a small town dementia care unit. I was sitting behind the nurses station and overheard two little old rivals having an argument. I don't know what started it but one came out with 'I bet you never had a man give you good sex all your life' , to which the other replied 'At least I didn't sleep with everyone in town'. I stifled my laughter.

Some days my "continence aids" are put under serious pressure, and today's vid was one of them! My grandma lost her husband in her 40s and never remarried. She was used to doing as she pleased, but at 80, they took her driver's license (by the way, she was like a roller coaster on those bluegrass hills in Kentucky). Anyway, my father was driving us all to church one day (he was her son), and we were running a little late, so he was going at a pretty good clip. Outta nowhere, a cop shows up, lights and siren, and pulls him over, giving him a ticket for speeding. As we headed off to church, Grandma said, "Sure. You take away MY license, but who ends up getting a ticket?" I about died!
