    I became a verifiable Tull freak at the ripe old age of five. I had my mom play the Aqualung as well as Benefit non-stop basis. I'd never heard Under Wraps until she got it as a Christmas gift for me and I loved it. The tour had a really fine setlist or pool of songs that they chose from. The new material has a really muscular feel to it with the addition of Doane on both electronic/acoustic drums.

    I think that the show sounds pretty good for the most part. The sound isn't quite as good as the Capitol Centre show from the American leg but the setlist is really, really good. It has a great mixture of both new and old.

    • @ricenglish4556
      @ricenglish4556 Год назад

      The set list had to be revised shortly after they hit America due to Ian's vocal problems. He said he was having no problems up until a few performancs in the States.

    In diesem Jahr verlor Ian dann irgendwann seine schöne Stimme und fand Sie niemals wieder. Heute ist die Stimme fast auf 0.Habe ihn als Ost Berliner nie richtig gut gehört bin aber nach 90 trotzdem gut 30 Mal bei Tull als Fan gewesen.

    Yes when he got to the USA half way or 10 dates it was shot. I saw the first two us shows and I am so grateful for two things I meet him in Philadelphia and I never saw that power ever again on tour or in an album. Hear his voice in Rock Island and join the fan club to bash Under Wraps. I love Tull. Let others be negative and bash the album. I stick with my resume I meet him and talked to him about Under Wraps and I have only seen them 52 times since 1982. There is a diehard who saw the prime and the influences flow down in negativity to bash Under Wraps. Have a great day

    I was backpacking around Europe at this time and was at this show - can't believe it's up here on RUclips. Although revisiting it I don't doubt that the show would have benefited from a little less from Under Wraps and a little more from any other of their pre 1984 albums!

    This is the tour where Ian wrecked his voice, isn't it? I always loved his voice and singing style. Never been the same since. This rocks, though.

      Shortly after they hit America, it started giving Ian problems. I saw them in early November of this tour in St. Paul, Mn. Ian hit every note, but I distinctly remember how hard he was working to do it. A few shows later it was gone, pretty much for good.

    Parece que el lugar del concierto está equivocado. El concierto corresponde a Barcelona, el concierto no es en París. Hay dos detalles:
    1) El propio Remy Tena me comentó que estuvo en el concierto de Barcelona en 1984 y fue allí donde ocurrió la anécdota de un muñeco que, lanzado desde el público, impacta con la cara de Ian Anderson y con el micrófono. El micrófono cae al suelo, Ian desaparece del escenario por un momento y la banda sigue tocando. Eso ocurre en el minuto 54:38 del dvd bootleg de este concierto, en mitad de la canción "Serenade to a Cuckoo". Mucha más gente recuerda la anécdota del muñeco en el concierto de Barcelona.
    2) Una vez conocido este detalle, si uno analiza el vídeo, en el minuto 1:48:34 (antes del bis "Too Old To Rock'n'Roll...), se oye una persona del público hablando en castellano (con acento claramente español) que dice: " ¡Dale, dale! ¡Venga, que yo te la meneo...! "

    It seems that the concert venue is wrong. The concert corresponds to Barcelona, the concert is not in Paris. There are two details:
    1) Remy Tena himself told me that he was at the Barcelona concert in 1984 and it was there that the anecdote occurred that a doll (thrown from the audience) hits the microphone and the face of Ian Anderson. The microphone falls to the ground, Ian disappears from the stage for a moment and the band continues to play. That happens at minute 54:38 of the bootleg DVD of this concert, in the middle of the song "Serenade to a Cuckoo". Many more people remember the anecdote of the doll at the Barcelona concert.
    2) Once this detail is known, if one analyzes the video, at minute 1:48:34 (before the encore "Too Old To Rock'n'Roll ...), a person from the audience is heard speaking in Spanish ( with a clearly Spanish accent) that says: "Dale, dale! ¡Venga, que yo te la meneo ...! "

    We had a little bit of extra Aqualung there at the end when Ian lost his place in the lyrics. The other guys seemed to carry on nicely once they realized it. Dave pointed at Martin thinking the was going to the lead riff then Ian decided to finish out the last line of lyrics, then Dave points again to Martin and and Martin could continue. Pretty funny. Knowing how critical Anderson is, I wonder if he can ever point the finger at himself?

      @Bill_Woo 5 лет назад +1

      @@seswf1375 That's what I figured at first - but Ian was so seamless in his instant reaction and continuation, and the whole band followed suit without anyone straying, so I'm leaning to think it was planned.
      OTOH maybe it was a mistake that was happening so often, that Ian would be ready and poised to just play along when the extra verse crept up !!

      @@rocksteady9115 It sure sounded like it. Ian lost his place and tried to recover and poorly at that. Very awkward. Never heard that happen to him before. One might think it would happen more frequently with the huge Tull library at hand though it gets repeated every night on the same Tour with minor exceptions and song inclusions. This one certainly didn't come out too well.

    This is probably my favorite Tull audience-shot video of all time. Full show, spirited performance, Ian in fine voice, good stuff.
    One question, though. You have posted a seemingly higher-gen version of this show as "Barcelona". Do you know which city is the right one?
