I'm 67 years old, and I've seen Jethro Tull 44 times since 1973. They are the greatest band of all time. They have enough music that I almost never listen to anything else. They were the best in the early 70s. This concert from turkey is fantastic. I saw basically the same in the US in Clearwater Florida. It is sad the great concerts are over now I listen to Martin barre's band . It's the closest thing to getting to hear Jethro Tull

Me too, I'm a woman of 66, saw then all over but not as many times as you. (about 17 for me) They are the best! I've also seen Martin Barre on his own in 2016. Please read my entry above about praying for Anderson - and the band. as wonderful an artist as Anderson is - all is lost if he is not saved -(doesn't know God through Jesus Christ) for himself. This applies to everyone. Save now Lord, I pray. None of us are getting any younger -and look at the times we are in - Jesus is returning as the lion of the tribe of Judah. God of the Jew and Gentile, promised Messiah from the Jewish Scriptures and revealed in the New Testament as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Just as he said he would.

I agree with you , I also have seen Jethro Tull in few concerts , I haven’t had the luck you had being in some many concerts , This is the best prog rock band ever existed, and the best album in the history for me is Passion Play and then Thick as a Brick , above Selling England by the Pound from Genesis and above Dark side of the moon and the wall from Pink Floyd.

I'm 58 and I did not catch on to the greatness of Tull till about '77 or so. First went to the Stormwatch tour in '79 in Philly and then never missed it everytime they came to town -- pretty much every year till well after 2000, not sure exactly. About 25 times at least. A few times I was right up in first or 2nd row, saw Tull or Ian solo shows in a ll sorts of venues, from big arenas to outdoor pavillions to small theaters, even old opera houses. I went to the 50th anniversary show in Philly and it was quite well attended. Still great as ever but it's too bad he lost his voice. I still love listening to the old recordings, especially the lesser popular ones toward the end of the 80s through the 90s.

Having been born and bred in England, i've had the privilege of having access to many of the best Musicians in the world, Tull were an interesting band but as Anderson himself acknowledges never got out of the second division of band's, this is a fair assessment up until 1979 but sadly with the loss of virtuoso Barry Barlow this proved to be the beggining of the end of the band. Granted they officially ended with the loss of their great Guitarist Martin Barre who continues to tour and record with his own band. Sadly Anderson can no longer perform coherently as year's of smoking and abuse of his own physical health ended his vocal performance in 1984, he's struggled on but to diminishing performances to the point now where he's barely able to speak on occasions. I remember some of the concerts i attended over the years and Anderson had a wonderful stage presence, however his health problems were evident after the Catfish tour and people actually walked out of his cathedral tours when he was no longer in Jethro Tull around 2012 and 2013. Happily the other great English band's continues to tour and record and actually improve with age to which we should all be grateful. I occasionally still listen to Tull on record and their many live performances from over the years. They were never destined to be up there with the best partly because of Andersons somewhat erratic performances and partly because they never had a full band of virtuoso Musicians, although the standouts in this department were very good and deserves a mention so thank you for the Music 🎶 John Glascock rip, Barrie Barlow and special Guest the great Eddie Jobson.

This is by far the best I've ever heard Ian sound after his vocal blowout on the Under Wraps tour - you can still hear him struggling a little with the higher notes but overall his voice sounds 90% of what it did in the 70s and early 80s.
It's such a shame he didn't get some singing lessons and take some steps to preserve his voice. Oh well. What's done is done.

love the lineup here. Yes, I love the band, seen them many times, and I thank God for them - and pray for them. - because Ian is not saved. At least not according to the impression I got when I spoke to him, getting his saudigraph after a performance of "Divinities," (1995).
So I did thank God for them (Tull) and I do, and because God (Yahweh is the source of all - good music and musicians) and faith and confession in the Son, Jesus is the only way to salvation - and unless Ian and anyone else gives an Amen to that they are not saved but lost. How sad for a brilliant artist, a man who sang alot about God, but didn't really know him. So God, save this man, that you gave such incredible talent to, right now, let him bow his heart to you. before its too late. In Jesus name, Amen.(It is for a man once to die and then the judgement). (And Romans 9:9-10)

Another great program band is Renaissance with lead vocalist Annie Haslam.
Annie knows Ian Anderson and has done some work with him. Eg. "Cry to the World"
Ian played the flute as backup for her.
You can immediately recognize his style.
Would enjoy attending a concert with them on the same bill.
Both bands are underrated and I would like to see them both get more recognized.

Oradaydım. Harlka bir konserdi benim için. 17 yaşındaydım. Konser sonrası açıkhavanın arka çıkışından içeri girip kulise kadar sızıp babalardan imza almıştık. Hatta Martin Barre ile sohbet etmiştim. İkinci gece çektiğim fotoğrafları bastırmıştım. İmzalamıştı. Gitar çaldığımı söyleyip gitarının markasını sormuştum. Özel yapım bir Tom Anderson kullanıyordu. Gitarından bahsetti bana. Hatta elime alıp bakmama bile izin vermişti. Belki yarım saate yakın kuliste takılmıştım. Giderken de penasını vermişti bana. Ne geceydi be.

In retrospect this early/mid nineties period seems like a last hoorah before the voice totally went and they still had the energy of the earlier years.

Geez, this footage always astonishes me whenever I happen to run across it once again. How wonderful it is that this chapter of the group's history was captured so magnificently in a pro-shot video. Tull's "Catfish Rising" tour was the final time I managed to attend one of their live shows (having started to actively follow Ian & the boys' annual concert schedule way back in 1977). The 1991 incarnation of Tull was surely leaner, sleeker, and a lot more sharply dressed than subsequent years -- it's amazing what winning a Grammy will do for a rapidly aging rock star's self image! (hee-hee) Nonetheless, the primary quality of the band (at least back in those memorable times) was the sheer excellence of their individual and collective musicianship. I'll always reserve a very special place in my rabid music hound's heart for them!

Too bad Ian let Martin go after years of alliance superb musicianship definitely showed bad faith on Ian's part. DVD Jethro Tull in Iceland has Ian's voice well shot with an excellent actor double helping out worth checking out

I saw several shows from this time period. Not the best stretch for Anderson's voice. It's a bad sign on this video that it starts to audibly give out so early on in the show.

I think this version of Jack-A-Lynn may be their best. Why no Aqualung...surely they must have played it? Also, no Teacher?

At about 18:30, "Gonna Take a Sentimental Journey" - the old songs are the best, even when plagiarized.
Wonder what the penalty for that is in Turkey?
