This is the best start of all the time, just perfect from Maurice Greene. In ideal conditions 0.10 reaction time, +2.0 wind and w/o injury he will run 9.55-9.60, and today maybe he will still own the 100 WR. Maurice is the greatest of all time.
One of the greatest starts ever for sure but that's a stretch. This is a 9.68-69 with a .100s reaction and +2.0, and I'll give him a 9.64-5 without the injury. Bolt's 9.58 is a 9.48-49 with a .1s rt and +2.0.
@phastman1994 Yeah...they were (for each 10m) 1.83, 2.83, 3.75, 4.64, 5.50, 6.33, 7.16, 8.02, 8.91, 9.82....the injury affecting him from around 75m....last 12-13 strides he's hobbling....I estimated that even into the -0.2, with the maintenance he had and coming off such fast splits up to 70m, he could've finished with 0.84, 0.86, 0.86 for 9.72 not 9.77-9.79 like some think. This would've been the record that Powell and even Bolt would've been chasing....thanks for the footage!
@MrBusunglueck But this race is more impressive than his 9.79, he cramped up towards the end and also ran it into a slight headwind. Mo Could've gone low to mid 9.7's here IMO. He ran his fastest 60m split ever here.
Hindsight. He was never likely to give up the chance to retain his title and could have no way of knowing that the injury would be such a setback. He was capable of (and would have clocked) something like 9.76, maybe 9.75 here without the injury - hard to walk away when you're in such great form, even if you're carrying a knock. Besides, I think his motorcycle accident which caused him to miss a lot of training early in 2002 was a bigger factor in his decline 2002 onwards.
Greene never tested positive for anything if he is on drugs then so is Bolt, Shelly(who actually got suspended for 6 months) and every other Jamaican including the dirty cheat Yohan Blake.
I have been ur biggest fan ever since I saw u during Sydney 2000. Love u.
He finish in 1.80 in the last 20 meters vs 1.70 in sevilla. Without his injury, it's like 9.72.
Gotta love that style. My inspiration of powerhouse

the peak of velocity was among 60 and 70 m (0.83 sec). if he kept his speed: 7.16 + 0.83 + 0.83 + 0.83 = 9.65 with - 0,2 wind. With wind in favor.....
The 60m split was 6.33. I did the original splits back in 2001/02, I do not know where 6.29 came from
@bossofalltime that cant be because when he ran 9.79 his 60m split was 6.41
@bossofalltime nice, where did you find this data from? care to send me a link?
@bossofalltime Damn, really? You sure because I'm pretty sure he ran 6.29 here unless thats including the -0.2m/s headwind?
@CJThaSavage Ya agreed, he would have gotten at least mid 9.7s if he didn't cramp up! This was easily his best race ever!

phastman what was his 60m split in this race?
@bossofalltime Not prob man and I agree, he could have defiantly gone low 9.7s if he didn't cramp up!
@RTic83 never ever! 9.69 is 1,5 meters
Maurice should’ve withdrawn, he blew his knee and missed the entire 2002 season and was never the same again.
