Undiscovered Country is my favorite Star Trek movie. It's so well done and perfectly timed. "oh, now be honest, Captain, Warrior to warrior. You do prefer it this way don't you, as it was meant to be. No peace in our time. "Once more unto the breach, dear friends."

If the content of a channel is good enough, I can give an AI voice a pass. This guy does his homework
Plus a lot of newer creators have distracting speech problems or accents...so they get criticism either way. For some reason, I have an intuitive feeling this guy had another channel or videos where both were getting him flack in the comments.
AI might be his only way of clearly presenting the material without having to pay an expensive VO person. I'm glad it's there for him.
And yes, there are some awful channels with AI voices that just read boring articles. This person offers a lot more perspective than those.

William Shatner, and Christopher Plummer were actors at the Stratford Festival in Ontario, Canada, who Shatner was Plummer's Understudy.
Denny Martin Flinn, wanted Kirk to hand over the Enterprise, to Picard, but learned that, The Next Generation happend over 70 years later.
It was also established that Spock's ancestor was, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Mary Jo Slater, who was the casting director, as well as mother to, Christian Slater, who was a crewman on the Excelsior, who woke up Captain Sulu.
Nicholas Meyer hired Cliff Eidelman as the composer, for the soundtrack.
René Auberjonois portrayed Colonel West, and the disguised Klingon assassin, before his role as, Odo in Deep Space Nine.
Brock Peters, who portrayed Admiral Cartwright in The Voyage Home, would reprise his role in The Undiscovered Country, and loathed the racial undertones of his lines, but understood what Meyers was going for, however had to make several takes in doing so. He later portrayed Captain Benjamin Sisco's father, Joseph Sisco, in Deep Space Nine.
Original Klingons were more thought to be Mongol like, and John Colicos, as Kor thought his character more like Genghis Khan.
Great as usual, and I don't mind the AI, it helped the video.

yeah, it has been done too many times but entirely done to death. it was a neat when it was part of the story of the blue brothers but the way they did was stretched. after that, they sort of copies that approach with a more shrunk down in time. it can be done when it done right. I'll admit, it would have been a nice idea to see Kirk and Carel together.
Lenard Nimoy not wanting to direct another Star Trek movie to avoid pissing off Bill is interesting. I guess, he wanted Bill's ego to remain in check because jealousy is a bitch that bring unwanted drama.

There were a few moments that addressed the "what have they been doing for the last few years" question in ST TMP. It was basically just expository dialogue for Kirk and McCoy. But Spock had a rather interesting scene where he attempted and failed to complete the Kolinahr.
Spock has so many great moments in Star Trek but he is essentially a tragic character. In "Unification" (ST TNG) he spent 80 years believing he was part of an underground movement working to achieve peace between the Vulcans and Romulans. Then he learned that his most trusted ally, Pardek, had been deceiving him the whole time.
Spock is always the alien, whether he's on Earth, Vulcan, or any place else. He has a home of sorts with Starfleet and the Federation, but he has very few friends. It's quite ironic. Considering all the qualities Spock has, who would be a better friend?

I ask this question from the viewpoint of someone who grew up on Star Trek:TOS on TV. When they started producing the feature films, I couldn't have been more excited. I loved the first film when it came out, but in retrospect, the flaws are quite jarring, even though I'll still watch it once in a while. When _Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn_ was released, this was the one that really made the promise of feature film Trek come true. It was a thrill to see the film pick up from the TV show. _Space Seed_ was one of the best episodes and made for a terrific jumping off point for the film series. _The Undiscovered Country_ was a brilliant film and served well as the finale for the original cast. I love them both, but for different reasons. One as the beginning (considering _Star Trek I_ as more of a proof-of-concept project) and the other as the end.

I do recognize that my opinion is relative to me and that I may have missed good things about Enterprise - the actors were all professionals and I did like a few of the episodes. There are choices Berman made over several series that left me shaking my head and I am do not want my criticisms of him to be conflated with professional actors or crew who worked hard on that show and I don’t want to disparage any fans of Enterprise who saw good things that I missed.

Um, Shatner was the one who acted in classics. V was not a disaster, although some people get some fun writing that. I've seen several good reviews at its opening. It has also picked up positive critical reaction over the years, since it's about the manic following of one man's ambition. But of course, that couldn't happen in real life.

  • @canuck_gamer3359
    @canuck_gamer3359 Месяц назад

I don't know where to begin here. This is among the WORST of all the terrible videos on RUclips that features the ridiculous voice synthesized voice over. If you are too lazy or too cheap to get a proper narration done, at the very least you must then write the copy very carefully, taking into account the fact that a computer can't put accents on the right syllables and words in a sentence. Just one example of this poor writing is at about the 10:45 mark, it is said that "....actually translated the entire play of Hamlet into the Klingon language and published it through pocketbooks." What the Hell does that mean??? Published it through pocket books???
The other important fact I would like to point out here is this; Nicholas Meyer has never felt guilty about anything in his life. The video DEFINITELY could have done without that little piece of drivel.
