When Pavel Barber likes your video, it must be good
I know! He is the Real Deal!
Pavel Barber was up pavs
I just stumbled upon this video and I’m so glad I did. My sons have been playing hockey for five years now and thanks to this video I know that I am a model hockey dad! I’ve been doing all the things that you recommend for years! All the other parents hate me but because of you I know that I’m doing everything right. Thank you! When both of my kids are in the NHL I’ll be sure to send you some money. Keep preaching the truth!
How is it that this video has only 120k views? Every parent in hockey clearly has learned and studied this very informative video.
And those parents have executed all these techniques flawlessly.
OMG - this was soooooo good! can't wait to watch part 2!
This is so spot on and funny as hell. Thank you for sharing
I was on my way to being that dad but with football but then I had an awakening. After playing my nine year old year round tackle football and seeing all the joy of sports leave I decided to let him try something different. The smile I see him get on his face when he hits the ice to play hockey is priceless. I never say one word to him I just let him be a kid.
Thats great Ray! Exactly. I did such a terrible job early on with my oldest son (who is 18) - I was always negative and trying to get him to be better through lecturing him about his effort, his mistakes, and his attitude. I eventually learned that didn't work at all. These days - I try and always stay positive. And since I've tried to keep that kind of an atmosphere - my youngest is much more open to hearing constructive feedback because at base he knows I'm proud of him and happy he's enjoying playing the sport. It was surprisingly hard for me to change...I had to literally hold myself back from jumping into lecture mode.
I just stumbled upon this, but this is absolute gold🥇Very well done and also funny as heck🤣
Now THIS is a Great video!!!!! LOL!! Absolutely enjoyed watching it!!
Thanks Lori! It was fun to make!
Don't forget to lobby with coaches and parents for the team to 'play up' a level...they're good enough...
Haha! Great Point....I'm thinking a "part 2" might need to happen!
This is perfect!! Got to make sure the parents know there job
This Video is UNREAL!!! I coach kids 7 years old, and I know for a fact some many of these hockey parent blunders are happening all over the city.
your video is funny from start to finish.
-Don't go five hole, only go "top shelf"
- @ home training. tell your kid don't pass, skate through 5 players and finish off with a top shelf snipe is what all the greats do!
My favorite part, no one remembers the nice pass, or assist. "Do you even remember who passed to Crosby in the 2010 Vancouver goal medal overtime game"? "iggyiggy"
I love the game, and your videos will help keep some people in check, with laughter and perspective!!! great work!
Haha! Thanks so much I definitely drew everything from what I've seen over 12 years of being a hockey parent! 😉👍
I've coached Squirts up to Bantams and yes ... this is accurate LOL The kids are great, it's the "support" they have on the other side of the class is a challenge.
“ If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.”
That being said, I am the equipment manager and transportation coordinator as well as main financial sponsor. There’s no escaping that reality.
I take notes during my sons games and point out one positive for each shift, no criticisms. Usually things like, nice patience, great pass, good effort, big shot block. Just try to pump his tires on the car ride home so he mainly remembers a positive experience.
I’ve been playing hockey for 30+ years, it’s the one passion that has been a constant. I hope to share that gift with my kids. And my 8 year old already knows “all paths lead to the rec league”.
Walking around with my head down in shame. I shared some laughs with the opposing goalie's father this past weekend.
But of course we were both videoing our daughters' game. The dreaded camera parent.
(I video more for the parents and the coach to use as an occasional teaching/learning tool...and for when my kid is grown up, gone and doing her own thing. Hopefully it will include some recreational hockey. I'm guessing all those videos I've made will just make me smile. And thanks for reminding me, that drive time is priceless, especially when you talk about everything but hockey).
Through it all, find humour. Good video.
Haha! Of course! I'll need to add that to part 3! Be sure and check out Part 2. And PLEASE SUBSCRIBE to my channel to support our hockey community! :)
Brilliant! Get to the 'Enlightenment Phase' HAHA
Well done... and hilarious.
Thanks Conn Guy! Be sure and check out Part 2. And PLEASE SUBSCRIBE to my channel to support our hockey community! :)
Outstanding!
Don't think I have laughed that much in months!! Strong work!
Thanks Christa! Be sure and subscribe and I'll put together more fun hockey related videos. :)
Absolutely! I need lots of tips.... My son is a 9 yo winger. Headed to a weekend tournament, I'm gonna try ALL of your tips, ha!
Nice! Yeah my youngest son is a 10 year old defenseman here in MN! My oldest son (18 years old) was a winger as well. :) Remember - DONT PASS! ;)
NEVER PASS! We are in Nashville
This is HILARIOUS!!!
I did remember 😂 Jarome Iginla baby. Legend.
Awesome! Very well done.
Thanks Mark - it was really fun to put together!
awesome. great holiday cheer video...but the hockey immersion thing, we dont do that on purpose, its natural
Lol, you had me up until after the hand signals that me and my kid do have.
I love this
Thanks for letting me know that I'm correct in knowing it's never my or my sons fault 🤣🤣
Kristi Napoli exactly. That is perhaps the most important take away from this! 😉
Best sarcasm ever! 🤣
For the first minute and a half I thought this was serious, but awesome video, covers every category of the annoying hockey parent
LOL!! This is great
PS. It was IGGY! 🗣🇨🇦
Hahahaha Joe YOU'RE THE BEST!!!!
Ha! Hey Jeremy! How have you been buddy?! Thank you - these are fun to make. I'm finishing up Part 2 shortly. :)
Im doing good. i found one of your pucks the other day lol. hope all is well buddy. :)
that picture u have talking about practice is my hometown ice rink Shattuck st Mary's here in faribault MN
Hey Devon! That is awesome. I took those pictures at Shattuck (that is my youngest son in both pictures). He was there for an Elite Boys Camp this past summer. Gorgeous school!
I'm a coach, this is hilarious!
I loved it. This is more what to do if u want your kid to get kicked off the team. 😂
THAT WAS SO GOOD
Ha! Thanks Shane!!!
Got a few of those parents on our 10u team
Yeah - my son is 10 right now - I've even fell into some of those categories from time to time! :) Be sure and check out Part 2. And PLEASE SUBSCRIBE to my channel to support our hockey community! :)
Being a Flames fan.....I remember that pass. Go Flames Go
HAHAHAHA ~ Nice vid!
OMG! This is hillarious! I was a ref when I was a kid and, no word of a lie, was told by a parent that I ref because I suck at hockey!
Oh yeah...and Jerome Iginla passed the puck to Crosby.
Ha! Thanks! Yeah...Complaints about kid refs is pretty standard. I actually the think (on average) the 'old guy' refs make worse calls than the kids! but yeah - i have a bunch of ref friends - and of course they didn't like that section much...but its satire... :) typical refs - no sense of humor. haha
Iginla..going from Olympic Champion to last place in the league Avalanche. tough year for them!
Be sure and subscribe if you like - I post about hockey often!
Classic!
You know the more I watch this the better it is p.s refs need to be required for a eye exam
Received our first taste of these “parents” this week: our little 7 year old who is obsessing about hockey, has only been playing/skating for 5 months. A dad came up to my husband and told him that our son is a “danger” to himself and the others because he’s falling down too much. . .
"Please keep in mind that the refs don't require an eye exam... something that will become painfully obvious when the game starts"
I lost it when I heard that!!!
Do you play for Seattle sno kings
All true points,lol
BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Don't forget the "I love you" hand singals that follow all the "skate faster" and "get up" signals. ;)
This could be made into a serial, as there's s many subjects.
I know - so many things to cover! Be sure and check out Part 2. And PLEASE SUBSCRIBE to my channel to support our hockey community! :)
i won mass state tourny 2 years in a row
Haha I cant breathe
My parents always stay calm but they buy me the most expensive gear
Just sit back and let your kid learn on his own and just give him a few tips before or after the game
go sharks!
😆
Why do u have a 15 second long intro
If I have to hear 1 more parent tell me about their 12u 10u or 8u kids athletic ability or physique or stats I'm going to fkin lose it.
What would Gretzky do ? 😂😂😂
hey , you sleeping.. check out these new tricks I found.. lmao
lol. I've totally done that! Be sure and check out Part 2. And PLEASE SUBSCRIBE to my channel to support our hockey community! :)
😂🤣😂
Damn, it was painful.
Is this video a joke?
Joe Gillett haha! Hi Joe. Yes it's Satire. Which is a type of joke that deliver with a straight face as though it's not a joke.
Well in that case great video
Thank you!
Hockey parents: instead of trashing your coaches from the stands. Cheer them on with a positive sandwich. Back up coaches are part of the coaching team. Back up 'all' coaches. Don't trash them. Do your part or go sit in the stands with the rest of the grumblers.
Not to mention most coaches know 10000x more about the game than the whining parents.
It'd be interesting to see a youth hockey concept with parents not allowed.
