- In this video I wanted to showcase some great options form the Michigan Stinger lineups of spoons and give some input on why I like specific colours.
These are by no means the only spoons that will work, and there are a lot of other colours I like a lot, but this should get you started if you're looking for an advantage out there with colour under different water conditions.

Thanks for helping us catch more fish!
Great lure selection! Looking forward to trying them out!....Heres to the big one that WONT get away 😉👍👍
That uv frostbite has been great for me this year. Thanks Lyle
Liked this very much the way you went right to it. Thank you for sharing. New sub.
Thanks Jim!
Thanks for the tips!! Always good content bud!
Hog wild !!! John would definitely approve.
Very informative thanks 🙏!
Always a fan of the HOG! He showed me a deadly looking echip flasher the other day in that pattern...it's on my radar now.
Ma's and Pa's tackle in Hanover needs to see this video, they have quite a lot of lures at descent prices. Thank you for this video, now I wonder if I can get MA's and Pa's tackle to order some before the Owen Sound spectacular???
Love the Magnums! Use them all the time on Lake Erie for lake trout!
Great info there, Lyle. Thanks! Do you know why only the front is painted while the back is usually silver?
Some spoons have a white, orange, black or even chartruse back. Anything under water at different depths in different clarities will appear different.
I think silver is standard because it kicks the most light back out in most situations (gold is best in stained water).
Hi Lyle do you fish the large 11" paddles with flies or just meat and what speed do you have to run them at. Thanks
Hey Michael I sure do fish the 11". I like to run those at 1.9 to 2.3 if I can
Spoon trolling speed when using fl,Asher fly combos
Flasher fly is something that is very speed tolerant. Depends on your leader lengths and the time of year...remember that shorter fly leads mean a faster "whip", whereas longer leads behind a flasher give the fly a more subtle action.
I like running spin doctors 2.2 to 2.7 most of the year mixed in with my spoon spreads, but once the staging period comes around it's hard to beat a longer 32" to 36" lead and a slow 1.9 - 2.2 speed.
I have yet to catch a fish on the ice frog. Must be doing something wrong. Perhaps the wrong conditions. What tackle setup works for the spoons? Thank you
I like the ice frog in more stained water because it has the white back. I rarely run it in clearer water
@@lylegayder thanks. I will use that tip. Are spoons more of a summer choice?
@@jimdrechsel3611 Spoons work all year hands down, but where I fish I start using more flashers and flies/meat in late may / june for targeting mature kings down deep. However spoons take big kings too, especially when fish are higher in the water column.
@@lylegayder what’s considered upper water column?
@@jimdrechsel3611 i consider that top 60 feet. I rarely run a spoon deeper than 60/70
Those are some good looking products!! Where can you purchase those?
He Stephanie, lots of good stuff here for sure. Locally in Niagara Peter's Tackle and Grimsby Tackle offer a great selection of this Stinger gear, but more generally, anywhere that sells great lakes fishing gear probably has a selection of Stinger.
Two face anything catches kings. Don't understand it, but I never leave the dock without it.
11/10 would fish
Great lures
.greasy chicken wing owen sound
New here and want all the info you have..
