Are those spoons as heavy as they look? I know an old spoon company and spoons are lighter than air, action like no other! But all those colors, do they matter that much? I have silver, brass, copper, black(I painted). Hammered or smooth, treble or single hook. I use single hook, can only put two in the box and trebles kill lots of trout I can not put in the box alive or dead, so I feel good about missing a share. But not sure how many those “frying pans” could wiggle up…of course at my lake 4# is a nice one. 8-11# my biggest. And where do the trout go in the fall/early winter? But if I had a live well I could/would win an October bass tournament trolling

I'm gonna try to answer your questions best I can. Yes, colors matter up here. Most spoons we use have treble hooks. Most trout run the tribs in Fall/early Winter.

what does the thermocline mean when you say you are fishing in it ?

On Lake Ontario for Salmon and Trout the Thermocline is where the water temp breaks from warm to cold. Personally, I like to put my high rigger in 58-62* water and stuff everything else below that. One exception is in the Fall with staging Salmon. They don't mind warmer water.
