They tried to dumb it down to much to the point that those games have no real purpose anymore. They should’ve found a middle ground between Grim Fandango & the TellTale games
@@SnakerPacedude there is nothing that compares to a full AAA point and click from the 90s. There are a few indie gems out there but nothing that comes close to that golden age.
Might seem weird, but this is actually my favorite game of all time. Played it as a child, started learning english from it. I remember a lot of the lines. This game is a true gem!
@@kielbrooke501I spent the 3 minutes of this video thinking was rob involved in this games making or… wth is going on… had to go to the comments to figure it out lol
I am ten minutes in... And as a childhood fan of this game, i am trilled its happing and in awe of the consideration made clear from this interview and showcase. Thanks rob for making this possible
Oh my goodness, this looks amazing and what a delightful interview. Charles was so humble and Rosie’s questions were SO good. Her enthusiasm for this game is clear and it’s such a joy to see it again. As someone who played a lot of the original on PC but never finished, only to try again on Nintendo DS and not get as far (I think there was more of a focus on Nico, or maybe I just chose different options?), I can’t wait to revisit this world again. I love all the little touches to honour the original and bring it into the modern era. I didn’t expect this and didn’t tonie I needed it in my life, but I cannot wait to spend time with George and Nico again😊
Broken sword is one of my favourite game EVER MADE. Its story, characters concept are incredible. It was this and the monkey island series that made me want to travel and see the world.
I really love this game!! It's so iconic and I'm so thrilled to see it's lovingly been updated. Rosie is such a lovely host and it's wonderful we have the game creator to talk us through this new version. Makes my heart happy.
Listening to a game director talk about his game so lovingly and Rosie fangirling is great. It cheers me up because so many people are blasé about games these days.
Charles has such a lovely enthusiasm and passion while talking about this. Fantastic to hear 😊 I'm loving all the continuity fixes too. New error that did not escape my eye though, there are briefly two cards when receiving Rosso's card 😉
Has Rob been moonlighting as one of my favourite video game directors? He and Charles are seriously voice twins, it’s uncanny! Super excited about the remaster, the love that’s been lavished on it is so obvious :) I’m glad they kept the music and original voices too - they’re a massive part of my nostalgia hit. This is definitely on my wishlist ❤
I'm so happy you brought Charles Cecil back. I said it back in the 'Beyond the Steel Sky' video and I will say it here again. I could listen to him going on about video games for hours. The dude clearly has a lot of love and passion for his art and craft. It's a please to listen to him.
Broken Sword 1 & 2 are in my top 5 favourite games, perhaps the top 2 depending on what day you ask me. The beautiful background art, the stunning music, the wonderful charcters and their stellar voice acting, just lovely comfort food teleporting me back to a simpilar time. I try to play the originals every couple of years. I remember being so upset with the 3D games and the Directors cuts, but this looks it has been made with the same love as that first game. Maybe the new lick of paint might be too clean, I look at that old art and think "phwoar, it's only graced with age and still holds up", but I look forward to giving it a go for yet another playthrough!
I've absolutely loved listening to Charles Cecil in this video. His enthusiasm and love for this game is infectious, it's so nice to see/hear that from people who are involved with the game. I'll be picking this up as soon as possible, thanks PlayStation Access for putting out this video
Please can you have Charles back to talk more about the game? As sometime who played the original on PS1 (a 3 disc set with Myst and Road Rash, no less!), this was such a pleasure to watch!
The joy in this video is just on another level. You sound so infatuated and in love. Maybe not to one another, but to a videogame that you clearly share lots of memories. Thanks for this.
I will totally buy this again. I have the original version and the director's cut. Heck even the mobile version. Because I love this game. It was very formative when I played it as a kid. Forever influenced my taste in games.
Amazing showcase! This was a delight to watch. Thank you to Charles Cecil, Rosie Caddick, all the people who worked on the game and all the people who made this video. Hope this remaster introduces more people to enjoy it. If I could give more likes to this video under the same account I would
Fantastic work, I have vivid memories of the Broken Sword 2 demo as a kid, (it was some guy in a cabin at the docks with a dog behind a fence iirc?) I'm excited to play these!
It genuinely is refreshing to me to see George pick himself up at the correct speed, Having a PS1 official copy of the game that for some reason plays a lot faster than it should! 😅 In all seriousness though, I can't wait to play this again! even though it has only been a short while since my last playthrough! 🤩
I love the fact that you can tailor the auto hints to show more or less quickly according to tste, and the manual hints can be customised too. I also love that, because of the added detail, the game now shows the actual picture George is looking at, when Nico shows him the photo of the thief. I'm now wondering if there are more instances like that further into the game.
I was kind of hoping Rob would be tag teaming this video with Rosie because he's made his distain known for the Goat Puzzle over the years on the channel :) EDIT this was such a treat to watch with the interview with Charles Cecil, such an entertaining watch :)
I don't know that no one had heard of the Knights Templar in 1996 Before this, before Assassins' Creed, before DaVinci Code, not only are there plenty of place names in the UK that have "Temple" in them, as lands whose income went to the Templars, not only were medievalists, wargamers and role-players aware of them, but "Holy Blood and Holy Grail" had been a best-seller Templars were all over the shop
Played this on PC, was one of my favorite games as a kid. Like everyone else, I got frustrated by the goat puzzle until internet came along in my house years later 😂 what a graphics upgrade!
And… this is how you sell a game, point out the differences/improvement clearly and have the people involved showcase it, the reverence to the original is palpable 😊
I thought it was Rob at first with how similar the voices are. I hope there will be a collectors edition of this game as well, I got the Monkey Island collectors edition and this would go perfectly with it.
I never even knew it was on PS1. I played the PC version back in the day, and I hope they also remaster the other games. Btw, people say Charles sounds like Rob but imo he rather sounds like Alex.
I hope this means we'll get a re-release of the sequels. One of the first games I ever played on playstation. The solution to the goat came to me in a dream after many frustrating hours of wondering around.
Loved the Dave Cummins credit from Charles. The writing and humour in the games dropped off ever since he left which was after he'd finished work on BS2. Hope their new games do well & I wish Revolution all the best, but I won't be playing them - what I've heard from the dialogue & humour in 5 & the current teaser for 6 made me wince. I'll always cherish 1 & 2 though. Won't ever be topped. Couldn't tolerate BASS2 either. RIP Dave Cummins 🙏
I have been getting into point and click games recently and I picked up games like cyanide and happiness freakpocalypse episode 1, thimbleweed, the little acre, and the wardrobe. Also, full throttle remastered, return to monkey island, the many pieces of mr coo, and day of the tentacle (which these 4 I need to play still). Now broken sword, detective gallo, and lost in play is on that list too. I need to get my childhood game too - pajama sam. I do wish that had a physical version of all the pajama sam games in a bundle. I guess I'll have to get the digital version of the humongous classic collection 🤷♀️

First of all I Thought it was Rob 😅For me Broken Sword Shadow Of The Templars is the best. When I first saw this remake i was like "well the graphics has not change much" and then whe it switches to the original graphics Im like..."oh..thats what it looked like back then. I remember it much much more sharp on the PSX" 😂 Freaking awesome game, still remember all the story and most of the puzzles ❤
