That's a myth. Filipinos are friendly with westerners because they want money. I saw how you guys treat each other and it's far to be friendly.
We sure make much more money in the US but we work hard for it. We can't afford giving money to every random people we meet on the street. There's way too much solicitation coming from left and right. It's so annoying!

@@rcruz262 How can you deny things that are so obvious? There's a massive lack of respect among Filipinos. They even exploit their own kids in that culture. Teenage mothers must give half of their little salaries to their lazy parents and the other half to their kids. How civilized is this supposed to be? It's a culture of exploitation and disrespect.

Oh yeah, when I'm in El Nido I say, "This is the best seaside place in the world." But when I'm on Raway Beach near Krabi, Thailand, I say the same about it. I'm flying to Puerto Princesa in two weeks for visit number three (starting in 2014). :)

El Nido was great, and we loved the underground river tour the most. The secret lagoon was also fun but tricky to get into with strong waves the day we were there.

Hi Alina, the vegetable you are referring to is Chayote. Its a vegetable introduced by the Mexicans / Aztecs(for lack of term for native mexicans) during the Spanish Colonial period in the Philippines. Its actually available now in Canadian supermarkets
Chayote is vegetable that I see in abundance in supermarkets in the US. At Whole Foods, I sometimes wonder if anyone buys it or I am the only one buying it. LOL.

I think the vegetable is called Singkamas. It’s kind of like a turnip but milder and crunchy.
